Ballistix Sport LT Red 8GB DDR4-3000 CL15, £34.60 at Crucial-Free delivery
Posted 11th JulPosted 11th Jul
Nice design and fast, good performance memory. Specs: DDR4 PC4-24000 • 15-16-16 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR4-3000 • 1.35V • 1024Meg x 64 •

The slightly faster 3200CL16 variant (also red) is cheaper than this at Amazon Germany.

Probably E-die based on the specs. Have a grey pair of these working fine in a 1st gen ryzen system with late 2017 bios, although they won't go past 3066mhz for me (was hoping to get them to 3200). Could well be my particular cpu's memory controller limit though.

That's nice to know, looks like this does have the AES in the number: BBLS2K8G4D32AESCK. Now I just need to look into buying a motherboard and CPU (probably MSI B450 Tomahawk + 3700X) ;)

Yeap already did and got 4 dimms of the Ballistix ones

I've read for these Crucial sticks they should have AES in the model number. Once you have the ram you can check with Thaiphoon Burner.

Some people see the price andjust think meh it's nothing special. These ballistix kits remind me of the old samsung 30nm ddr3 wonder ram.

Definitely cancel them

Ordered, thanks OP.

I have the 16GB version of these and they don't OC well at least not on Z370 The most I've gotten them to is about 3200 before they cause stability issues

You can get the 3200mhz 2x8GB white model for £71 from the same site, much better value.

No. I put in one of the threads jts available cheaper at That's sold by HDEW.

Nope, it was the right thread, wrong time :-)

Yeah it would, but it's slight overkill. Any SATA drive on sale now is quicker than the USB 3 connection.

Vista? Nah, I'll stick with Windows ME thanks. (y)

Did you also know windows 95 has an update? ;)

I bought the mP510 480GB this week.

Would one of these, with a housing, work as an external for an Xbox x? Or is it overkill and just buy a passport ssd?

Thanks Brutes, picked one up for stock :-) Amazon was £24.99 the other day so every little helps.

@Brutes thanks for the heads up on this, i paid the extra couple of quid over the Integral P 240GB and took a chance, I had only ever really bought Samsung SSD's always apart from 2x WD Green and 1x Adata most recently, they we just because the prices were too good and i only needed 120GB and Samsung don't do 120GB any more tbh i have even looked for 2nd hand @cex for them as i like the 850 120GB so much , even though they seem slower on paper i think they maybe MLC , but the cache doesn't slow down on large often non-sequential random transfers which is something my SSD's are often deployed for.

Aww, I just bought this at £48. tried to cancel to order again but 'it wasn't possible to cancel' despite not shipping yet.

I got the MX one for the missus as tge BX don't go big enough... At least not where I bought from

Only major difference between MX and BX is power loss protection and write endurance rating. Both drives saturate sata port and crucial slightly tweak firmware to give MX a slight speed advantage.

I used Minitool Partition Wizard which was pretty fuss free. Cloned the disc and swapped them over. It's a shame I had to faff with downloading and installing the Acronis tool but all good in the end. Totally transformed a couple of old Lenovo X230's. Happy boy and wife and a happy wallet for me (y)

If you haven't tried it already I think macrium reflect does a good job and I've had no issues with it in the past :)

Can you please tell me how does this compare the Sabrent Rocket deal posted for a few quid more at 101 today.

How does the Corsair model compare with the WD Blue? I understand it is SATA 3 but my laptop is confirmed by the manufacturer to run SATA 3. NVMe has been reported to work by users but one told me there is a windows update bug where it cannot deal with updates. And I can't understand why the WD Blue is pricier being SATA M.2

Because as soon as its saturated the SLC cache performance absolutely plummets. I discovered this copying Fallout 4 (about 95GB) to one from a Crucial MX100, started out at more or less the read speed of the MX100, and then stumbled to 80-120MB/s after a while. and the response time became atrocious as well. Not experienced the Crucial drive that this deal is focused on, but my go-to cheaper NVME drive for the moment is the Corsair MP510, which seems pretty close to the 970 Evo Plus for basically the same money as a Crucial P1 or 660P

so looks like intel 660p maintain speeds around 500MB, why people always say it drops to 50MB?

Thanks for taking the time to post that.Appreciated.

£105.10 now.. Slightly cheaper from Crucial direct for £104.39

Or another way to compare is buying Ferrari if 99% requirement is for a BMW.. there is no point in buying the nand3d version if the laptop is old. For top end model laptops there is m2 anyway.

You realise there is a difference in quality with this deal and the one which is £77. Technical way to explain it is the difference between Samsung SSD Evo and qvo drives. A simpler way to explain it is comparing a Ferrari with a mini

Bought a mypassport and if you connect it to a BT smart hub youuse as a sort of nas it will only read the files from my mac. If its formatted as fat32 you can read and write files. Time machine needs it to be formatted as mac osx extended. I have no idea why but when you connect it directly it works fine. Any ideas??

.. its already £77 as per one of the hukd posts.. going much faster down than I thought

I’ve not found any difference with it, apart from the customer services department is UK based.

Is the customer service regarding returns etc still as good with their business account as I presume you are not covered with consumer law/ distance selling regs in the same way as a normal account?

foung it thanks

It’s normally on the right hand side on a product page, where you add to basket, can change quantities to add to basket etc that’s on the desktop site, I’ve not used the app for business so couldn’t say if it’s there. I’ve also not used it so not sure how much discount is on offer or how many of something counts as a quantity discount.

this is handy information, i have an unused business accuont, any info on how to ask for this kind of discount? thanks in advance
