Must admit I'd missed that. I'm not sure you'd get an 11 year old happily facing rearwards XD

But now everyone who reads this thread knows... Ta :)

Clicking the link and looking at the first bullet point would have been quicker than writing a comment. Group II / III car seat suitable 15-36 kg (approx. 3-12 years)

Indeed ~45cm. Even so 3 across of the back of an S-Max are still touching.

What age can this seat up to please?

mothercare orb all terrain pram and pushchair and a Cybex Aton baby car seat - £400 - Mothercare - down from £590
Found 12th JulFound 12th Jul
Normally £590 if bought seperately. Gets good reviews and looks good for the price.

After having a second child, if Cosatto did a double buggy that was the same setup as a Bugaboo then we’d have another Cosatto. We have a Bugaboo Donkey (marvellous name) and the price you pay for fabrics that fade, for a folding system that can’t be executed without scraping all the front plastics and ruining the look of it is appalling. Our previous Cossatto Giggle 2 travel system was a far sturdier, better built and more pleasant buggy/pram to use all round for a third of the cost. Cossatto all day in this house!

I would recommend you look first at the car seats that perform best in crash tests (not just min standards of adequate protection at low speed) Google crash test rather than reviews. Then try it in YOUR car. Not all seats are a good fit in all cars. It depends on the angle of the cars seat and the width of the car door etc. Get a pushchair that has adapters for the car seat. Most of the better quality seats have adapters for many brands. When choosing YOUR pushchair make a list of your needs and check it will meet them. - will it fit in the car boot with the shopping or travel cot and is it heavy or awkward to lift in and out? - if you use public transport is it narrow enough to go down the asle? - Do you need a big basket? -Height adjustable handle? If you are fairly tall or short you need to do a test drive around a shop floor to make sure you aren't kicking the wheels. Do you want one a toddler seat can be added to later? Also double check if your lifestyle is similar to the friends recommending the pushchair. If they like to go to town at the weekend and you like to go for a stroll in a park the type of pushchair wheels that suit you would be different. I agree there is no need to overspend for something you will use for 12 -18 months before you buy a stroller.

We attended a baby fair and had in our minds we where going to buy a icandy or an egg. We ended up buying a meego Milano, we tried several before deciding on that. It was the suspension that sold it and how nice it was to push.

We've got our first child on the way in November, and this has been on e of the biggest obstacles as we have found it impossible to choose something which is necessary yet waaaaaaay overpriced for what they are. I'll be checking this deal out but at the moment, we are set on the Cosatto Giggle purely down to the fact that around 8 friends/family have all used it and found little to no fault.

My wife had been looking at some bugaboo fox or something for twice the price. This any good or is it like comparing a vauxhall mokka to a Lexus NX?

I have this seat and love it, but I do have isofix version.

Don't take corners too quickly with these. I use them in an old vw van , pre isofix, and the kids fly around like corn being popped. IMHO the most that can be said for them is that you'll avoid a fine if pulled over.

Also be careful as this model is without isofix.

Very highly rated seats. Almost purchased on last deal at £85 but now a bit cheaper so I have taken the plunge.

Great seats. Have 3 of them. Narrower than most too.
Can this work in a non isofix car too, just with the seatbealts?
Yes this can work with just seat belts to answer my own question

Can this work in a non isofix car too, just with the seatbealts?

Excellent seats - will work until they don't need seats any more, so worth it.

Cybex car seat S-Fix (iso-fix) £234 @ John lewis (RRP £260)
Found 2nd MayFound 2nd May
The latest in the cybex pallas range. Usually found for £260. Seems the cheapest price around matched with UberKids for a relatively new product. Group 1/2/3 - from 9 months to … Read more

Get a group 1 or group 1/2 rear facing seat and then buy a seperate group 2/3 (high backed booster) when needed. Seats with harness shields are not recommended for safety reasons.

The isofix and isofix foot style only caters for children up to 18kg approx 4 years old. The impact shield front cushion can be removed from 18kg so reaching over for the parent is easier from then. This seat does to age 12 approx. Though yes reaching over the impact shield is a nuisance and won't suit everyone for that phase.

Rear Facing: Radian 5, takes effort to install first time but excellent seat. Very comfortable more importantly safe seat. Forward Facing: As your child is age 2 you would be looking at a group 1/2/3 seat these Cybex impact shield style seats are the only group 1/2/3 seats to do well in the adac safety tests. Joie have brought out a new 123 seat that is harnessed up to 26kg, it isn't tested independently yet. However do remember with a front facing harnessed 1/2/3 seat the 5 point harness on the vast majority must be discontinued at 18kg. If your toddler is a light build that should be fine but if they are likely to approach 18kg before the age of 4 most people have a challenge that they haven't the maturity to sit still in the seat with just the seat belt around them.

Children ideally should be rear facing until they are at least 4 years old. And for as long as possible after that. Rear facing always offers more protection no matter how old they are. What you need next is a Britax Two Way Elite or Axkid Minikid. The Two Way Elite is cheaper but less fancy, and probably just has the edge on height, the Minikid has a lot more features but it costs more. Either seat should last your son at least two more years, if not three.

My sister has a cybex lile this for her 2 year old she loves it and has been using it since her son was 1.

If your on Facebook take a look at a-z of rear facing, it will give you loads of information on rear facing. I have a five year old that rear faces that was forward facing until 3 and a half.

Possibly not achievable if you don't have a large car.

Perfectly achievable if they're within the weight/height limits of the seat.

Spend £200 on a rear facing seat then - your child is much more likely to survive a crash then.

The ones I’ve seen comes with a hood and liner for £349.99

Check if you need the complete colour pack though as you might be able to save some money. My colour pack came with coloured hood, a seat liner, a car seat head hugger, an apron and a carry bag. you can just purchase the hood and liner if that's all you need which might work out cheaper.o

Nice looking, good handling travel system. However, our original Oyster chassis literally fell to bits. Had the handle section replaced only for the unlocking mechanism to fail again. Suspension has failed, so bumping down kerbs causes the wheels to jam and baby to lurch forward. Front wheel snapped off on one occasion as well. The buggy board is good though. Hopefully they addressed these issues with the Oyster 2.

The buggy in other colours is available for £349 from the same site. Anyone know of any coupon codes?

reduced to 65 in store (new & boxed) when i was there today, only the gold orange colour, useful for anyone who wants to use it as 2/3 group. our son fits in 2/3 due to heigh and weight but he just takes off the belt so we have to stick to a 1/2/3 with harness until he stops....also had britax evolva 123 for £36 (display only)

These seats should be banned by the EU. Shocking.

Maybe verify what good advice you get before neglecting it. Not my children will sit in such a seat. Also Study for UN ECE Btw. This seat is a new, modified version of old pallas which failed in those tests but I dont know of any tests of new type so there may be some improvement.

shanecr wrote: I think anyone with common sense would only buy this for a child over 4. Don’t be ridiculous! I have one similar and it holds my 2yr olds body tightly in place. I don’t think you will have a problem as you’ve purchased the item before that time. They can’t just stay something is now unsafe and expect everyone to spend hundreds of pounds for new seats. It’s been safe for years and all they want you to follow is EU legislation

Urm I just bought a britax group 123 front facing seat is that just 2x as bad?

Interesting about it being safer. I have just bought a Recaro for my son, who is 11 months, 12 in a couple of weeks. My Daughter who is just 2 has a Recaro (same one I have bought my son. I always thought that rear facing ones could be safer, for the obvious reasons but the majority are front facing, for when they are older. Makes me want to get this model now really, I guess both are very good which is great, plus this one is a smaller form factor when going on holiday. :S

If you purchase before the law comes in then it’s not a problem

It's absolutely saltiness, because if you read my post, I clearly recommend the Cybex Sirona, which has a 5 point harness and I specifically mention that it's *rear facing*. I then go on to recommend the quality of the brand as a conversational point. I don't need you trying to lecture me on the value of a rear facing car seat when I've already said that I have one :p The Sirona is £250, a lot of people won't have that for a car seat. To say this seat is a "death sentence" is unhelpful hyperbole, even though a rear facing seat is obviously preferable.

Yep i know i own one which i bought 3.5-4yrs ago for my son! Yes this is not a cheap car seat and has great safety reviews as a front facing carseat in group 1 its one of the safest but new research shows that it is safer to have this age/weight/size child rear facing as long as possible. I think views on this carseat will differ depending on the age of child you are buying for my son has this is 5yr 26kg and 130cm (big tall kid!) He has this carseat and will stay in it till he's too big. My baby 9m 10kg 80cm would be suitable for this car seat but today's research shows in a crash she will best fair being rear facing so i wouldn't buy this seat for her I've gone for a extended rear facing seat.

Don’t want to get in to arguments on this This is £260 in John Lewis and won awards for best in class

Can return under distant sell by regulations for a refund

Would anyone be interested in buying mine off me for £140. Tried the child in it in the living room and he hates it. Still brand new in box etc. Based in Scunthorpe

That's what the end of my comment says just purchased a cozy merlin for my baby extended rear facing. They will no longer be able to produce them for that age range will take yrs to phase out find it crazy what people wont spend on safe carseat

Great deal on this car seat I’ve had my eye on for a while. More info Voucher save5 gives another 5% off

I can see how someone like yourself would want swivel, and I guess you pay the premium for that feature. My daughter has climbed in and out of her own seat since about 18 months, so that feature wasn’t needed here. I feel it more essential her being Rear Facing for longer, but everyone’s needs/wants are different. 😊

Whilst it’s irrelevant to this being a “deal” or not, the swivel is the selling point imo. My back isn’t great and lifting an ever increasingly heavy child out is only going to get harder. If ou don’t want the swivel, then your money could be better spent elsewhere as you’ve pointed out. We've had ours for 6 months and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s big, heavy and expensive, but the pros far outweigh the cons for me and my bad back :)

Not voting either way, feel like it’s a lot for a rear facing seat that won’t last long for taller/heavier children (more than 50th centile). Like my daughter would outgrow it RF by the time she’s 3y3m, whereas I can get a Britax Two Way Elite that will keep her rear facing until she’s 25kg, and is rated higher than the Sirona for safety testing, for £165. I guess if you need the Isofix for moving the seat a lot, or the swivel, which is kind of necessary with the high sides, then it’s a good deal.

I think the issue is people confusing appraising the price vs the discount. A BMW M3 with 20% off is still expensive but a good deal nonetheless
