Fantastic USB rechargeable front cycle light - 68% off £7.49 @ Tredz

I just took delivery of one of these. Really good as a "be seen" front light. Not much cop for lighting up the road though. Free postage too!
lumsdot4 h, 47 m ago

so its a front light that does not light up the road in front, sound …so its a front light that does not light up the road in front, sound dangerous and not fit for purposelook on ebay or amazon for cree bike lightssomething like this one from China, i dont have this exact model and am not recommending it, just giving a link, note: some china bike lights have dodgy rechargable batteries which can catch fire under charginghttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CREE-XM-L-T6-LED-Front-Bicycle-Bike-Rechargeable-Head-Light-Torch-Headlight-Lamp/251437897077?epid=1937292435&hash=item3a8addd575:g:W2QAAOSwRrlZ~J3k

There are 2 types of front lights; those intended to light up the road (for cycling on unlit roads, paths and offroad) and those intended to make you visible to other road users.
This light is the latter type and therefore fit for the purpose for which it is intended.

Using an unnecessarily bright light when cycling in traffic isn't safer - it just dazzles other road users.

I always have 2 lights on the front of my bike - a simple, cheap, 'be seen' light similar to this and a second, more powerful light for lighting the way on unlit paths, etc. (it can be turned down or off when cycling on lit roads).
I also have 2 on the back - just in case the battery dies in one and I don't notice.
Edited by: "ArthurDent1" 18th Feb
I've had this light for over three years and used it on four or five different bikes. It is the best "to be seen" light I've owned for the money. I used to leave the rubber mount on the handlebars and use the metal clip on the back to quickly attach and release it. It takes a few tries to get used to this method but once you are it is extremely quick. The light feels very well made - solid construction - and the battery lasts a decent amount of time for a compact light. In the years I've had it I've dropped it onto concrete/tarmac a few times and it emerged unscathed. The clip attachment can be used on your clothing/bag/etc so it can be used without the rubber mount. It's easy to operate even while wearing gloves. An excellent light at the full price but this deal, plus the code above, makes it extremely good value for money.
I run a couple of similar to these usb powered lights wityh a seperate dual usb outlet powerbank held in a top tube frame bag,,pretty much turns pitch black into datylight on the unlit roads on my commute home

Good performance as far as USB lights go. I’ve got the pair of these. The mounting mechanism for the front light is appalling, try mounting it as shown on the handlebars and every bump shakes it loose so it just ends up flapping about. It drives me nuts. Good ‘be seen’ light if you can get it to stay in place.

If there's one crew's ribbing that I don't have any issues dealing with it's Rapha's.

Handy hint is to to allways ask the person, from the Rapha crew doing the ribibing, for their national ranking as despite looking you can't find it but you are sure its just an oversight on your part, as anyone spending such a high amout of money on cycling clothing must just be a totally awesome cyclist....

I’d like to like gore shorts but being a 34-36 waist (large) they just don’t fit right, ive found they are tight on the waist and too baggy on the legs, with a slimmer waist they may fit better..

the tops are quality have have had a few Activeshell windstopper jackets, the gilet, turtleneck zip and base layers all quality and fit as expected, just ordered a power trail thermo jersey on crc for £45 (1/2 price

endura are a great scottish’s company, I ragged an mt500 jacket on barb wire at the weekend and emailed them, and they replied quickly they have a repair service £15 flat fee, I’m hoping they can patch it up..

in terms of shorts see if you can get hold of some endura MTR or MT500 or singletrack shorts, I have hummvee shorts but don’t like the fit personally ok for casual.
They are far more technical with stretch panels and a better fit, look overall...

i have fox shorts but but they feel flimsy boardshort like in comparison, great for summer but need something tougher in winter

TLD Troy lee make some great shorts I’m told, but many are too in your face for me
Edited by: "whatyadoinsucka" 13th Feb
Large now £33.32 with discount think I'll stick with the Humvees
So you don't like Gore shorts but found and posted the deal anyway? Fairplay.
'Tis a good deal, and ordered, but not sure.

I dunno if those are the same, click your order link and provide the product link if you like.

If you click the link I provided then it'll show if those are the ones you bought for you at the top:
amazon.co.uk/Pad…UE/

They look very similar, but I think they're different.

I've still got some Endura Humvee shorts to return - for casual shorts I fit a 31" waist.
So I bought Medium - and they're way too tight.

I don't know about Endura and Altura - the British brands, it'd be nice to get a decent british brand but I don't like their names, and they seem to make poorer cheap products.

Maybe they simply don't have the brand cache - but I'm not an Endura fan having bought the Humvee and wondering what people were raving about - but I only tried them on.

I preferred the more minimal and smarter styling of Fox.
Fox is expensive and overpriced, but can be bought on offer for more reasonable prices - and all the Endura shorts other than the original Humvee aren't really any cheaper than Fox on offer - e.g. £50-£60
I've not compared the other Endura shorts to Fox shorts, but Fox shorts seem to be made from more technical fabric, with a smarter and more minimal/performance focused design.

Dunno, still struggling to find some decent mountain bike shorts that actually fit without paying a fortune.
Fox 32 fit me if they have the inner velcro tabs - the plastic integrated belt only doesn't work for me as 32 is actually too large.
Need to try their 30s.
31 will probably be correct, dunno.
Their sizing seemed consistent at least.

is it true that if something is behind you but travelling at the same …is it true that if something is behind you but travelling at the same speed - this device won't register it? That sounds like it could be dangerous?

I've got one of these and use it daily with an Edge 1000 cycle computer. You are sort of correct. If a car is coming up behind you, the computer beeps and you can see the dot approaching, but if it then slows down to your speed (waiting to overtake) the dot representing that car does eventually disappear.

It is excellent for improving your awareness of what's going on behind you and I wouldn't be without it, but I still always look behind me before maneuvering because the radar does not always paint the full picture of what's going on behind.

It will probably seal. You may not even know about it. When I change my tyres over, theres normally thorns and all sorts stuck in there. I had no idea. I once was on a long ride and my tyre was cut by glass, this is the worst one I have had as it was two big cuts in two places. I first realised something was up when I felt water spraying on me and thought some little sod was spraying me with something, before I saw the back wheel like a catherine wheel. It sealed, and I ran it low pressure (about 20) home. That tyre I had on for another 6 months.
If it slashes too much to seal, then you can just pour out the sealant and stick a spare inner tube in.
I have been running Stans for 5 years. The first time i did the Liverpool to Leeds canal, I had 6 punctures. Since i went tubeless, I'v never had a puncture that has stopped me.
Im also tubeless on the road bike now.
