What do you do for spotify, I just click on the genres and click shuffle, is that the best way to find new music? I've not been getting much success but I am picky.

woldranger

You see, that was one of the things I didn't like about Deezer. At one point I used it for 6 months but the mix of music that it offered up was nowhere as good as I'd found with Spotify, but hey, that was just my experience!

Is there any way to get this deal? Doesn't work for me. Keeps complaining that I can't use a non Turkish card.

There is a risk. Hard to say how high the risk is as noone had reported that it's happened. One way to mitigate it somewhat, and what I did, was to create a brand new Gmail account (via a Russia VPN) as the family leader

Yeh I prefer the warmer sound of the Yamahas, the Sony's I've heard were like the AV Amp equivalent of a TV's Dynamic mode, far too harsh but get the punters interested in the shop. :)

3LeggedDog

Ended up going for the Sony with a 5.1.2 set of Dali Spektor 6s with the floorstanding fronts. I compared to this Yamaha, and an Onkyo TXNR868. For me the Sony was more dynamic, punchy, lively, fun, and had great seperation. I tested with some FLAC music. I did not compare the 5.1 experience. The Onkyo was a close second but the Sony for me did it. I found the Yamaha to be slightly warmer sounding but otherwise flat and uninteresting. Tried also Monitor Audio Bronze 2s with each setup. They would blow the roof off my house. Dalis were very nice, balanced sound. I tried the Q Acoustic ones and they were insanely trebley, felt like they were going to pierce a hole in my ear drum!

Roger_Irrelevant

I'm using my Yammy with four old Mission 70s, I sometimes think the setup could do with the ability to add more treble, not sure if the missions are warm like the amp. But not over fussed as 1) No Tinitus. (y) 2) Now and again when the source audio is well produced (say an AC/DC album..) it really does comes to life. 3) You can add presence speakers higher up if you want.

3LeggedDog

I started looking at the Q Acoustics 3010i set only because they look classy in walnut. The guy in the shop said they are bright speakers so paired with Sony amp they might be too piercing.

rev6

It depends on which speakers you pair it with. Warm speakers with a warm amplifier might be too warm :D

It’s seems to be the pattern. Before Christmas and a week after it’s doscounted then it goes back up for the year. One year it went up more than the original prices.

That’s a shame. Quite a few deals a few weeks back by the look of it

Going off Sonos and the way they work. It will most likely not be discounted till next Christmas.

£399 now :/ anyone know of any good deals?

I would love one of these, my only issue is the lack of DTS. Paying this much and then having to jump through more hoops to ensure that my blue rays transcode into the ageing DD5.1 format supported by Sonos instead of stereo or no sound at all is just terrible. They advertise these as part of home theater and then ignore support for one of the most popular codecs.

My battery hasn’t been affected since I upgraded my Fitbit Baze to the Versa having previously owned a Apple Watch the Fitbit battery and the impact it had to IPhone battery is nothing compared to Apple Watch which didn’t even last 12hours, not mentioning it drains iPhone battery also. Got the flip 4 for my daughter for Xmas, amazing sound from a speaker so small! Now waiting out for a deal on the Xtreme 2 before the summer for BBQs and camping.

pauljanet

I have this too and it is a great speaker which is really robust. For this price I don't think it can be beaten. If you get two you can link them to get a multiroom experience. Connect an echo Dot and you have a smart speaker you can move around too.

john.donovan

I’m on holiday using mine now, absolutely fantastic speaker with amazing bass. This is the cheapest price I’ve ever seen it go for and it’s well worth the money

aj_nu

I have this and I absolutely love it! With all speakers of this kind, it's definitely better on a flat hard surface as it conducts and reflects the sound off it. At high volumes it has amazing bass but it starts to lose the sparkly highs. The battery life is phenomenal, much better than any other speaker I've tried (B&O and Bose ones). At this price, I'd definitely bite or if you have a higher budget, get the Bose as that sounds good even at the highest volumes.

Limety

Is this better than the xb31?

Just bought these and the noise cancelling is far more effective than the SONY WH-CH700N which I took back. £18 more but worth it.

Polythene

Same price on Amazon, but with mixed reviews. Several people mention the noise cancelling making weird cracking sounds???

Hersheymad

Bought these and they are brilliant I use them for running and they are light, tight hold on to the head really well quite snug, the vol buttons are a bit annoying as you need to tap tap to increase/decrease the volume instead of just holding the button but apart from that they are well worth the money superb sound super noise cancelling its that good you cant hear yourself talking, heat for posting would buy again

harrythefish

I've a bedside radio that is great in every way except no Bluetooth. So I use a gadget like that for podcasts. In the car I prefer a 3.5mm aux connection

TopTrump

Mucking about with FM transmitters to tune a phone into a radio you've already got is a nightmare. I remember when the 2nd gen iPod came out back in 2003 I thought I had found the answer to my in-car entertainment needs. You got some reception initially then the interference of other signals coming and going, in the end, went back to mix-tapes or using the cassette tape adapter which often caused the cable to jam the "logic control" tape deck. Another iPod came out, this time a new connector, thought I'd give it another go to listen to music I wanted. Nah! It's hocus pocus, very yesterday's hat now that bluetooth has become an accepted standard. I wouldn't bother. Just get a waterproof bluetooth speaker for the bathroom with volume, skip & previous, take call controls and keep the phone in the next room. You won't go mad that way.

harrythefish
