I have the 65" and it sometimes puts its self on to a mode that makes the picture look weird, can be fixed by going to Menu (you have to put it to tv to get into menu) Picture, advanced setting, Movie Sense- turn this On then Off, then the tv will look fine. I agree the Samsung would be a lot better, I didnt want to pay £1000+ for a 65" from a good make when I got mine for £550, every person who see my tv likes the look and sound, but if I could have got a Sony/ Samsung etc for about £30 more I would have. If you plan to use the Apps dont get the digi.

having compared them side to side the Samsung is vastly superior in both sound and picture quality, so if buying the Digihome makes you feel good with its much lower quality and only slightly lower price then more fool you. The smart interface on the Samsung is better and faster too. Is the Samsung a brilliant TV? No, but it is much better than the Digihome when there is so little in the price difference. Had the Digihome been £279 then it would be different.

The Samsung 6120 is at the entry level and is a worthy comparison. The bottom line is that you have to go along with your budget. People buying this or the Samsung as a replacement for a much older television will see an improvement .

Everything about the Samsung 6120 is cheap. The panel, the cheap stand, the thick ugly black surround and a basic 60hz panel. It’s funny that someone said that only the “uninformed” would buy this digihome when that’s exactly the case with anyone who buys a 6120. If buying this makes you feel good because it has Samsung on it then more fool you. Also the “council”comment is weak too. If people don’t have a lot of money to spend on a tv that’s fine, there’s no need to be a snob about it!

OOS? none of the links seem to work and i can't find it on the Tesco Direct website either

There's a 279 at Sky Accessories for a 43 Inch LG for anyone interested in branding a little more.

According to the specs, the 50" has better contrast ratio, one less USB and no optical. So is better for size and contrast but worse for connectivity. Note as well that both say no scart socket in specs but the 50" says there is a scart socket in the description.

How is this different than the 49inch one? It costs £20 more. Is that purely for the extra inch?

Remote control is very similar to my JVC

Might get slated as a poor TV but 4k with HDR not bad even as a 2nd TV?

How many Hz? Can't seem to find it

Thanks for the reply, I'l find out for sure on Friday when it arrives.

I've been struggling to find reviews and specs but it looks identical to this TV, just rebadged so yes it appears to have optical. https://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/55uhd298sm/electriq-55uhd298sm-55-inch-led-tv

Just bought this. Anyone know whether it has an optical connection for a sound bar?

Seems a decent price

The Panachronic may have been one of the Vestel-manufactured models - same as this Digihome. TBH there is a 14day return window with the Digihome so if it doesn't meet your expectations there is only a £35 return fee to be deducted from the refund.

I want a 43" TV like this for our small living room. Yes, we might not get much from the 4K but I think we'll deffo see an improvement from HDR. We have a 4 year old 43" Panasonic. If we're watching anything where the scene is dark, it's almost impossible to make out what exactly we're supposed to be looking at! Game of Thrones had a lot of 'dark' bits in it and even with all the curtains closed, they were problematic to watch. PS - if anyone has this TV, does the base allow the screen to swivel???

Unlikely to notice resolution benefit of 4k on a 43" screen in typical domestic domestic TV applications unless you normally sit so close to the TV that you kneecap yourself on its stand. OK for monitor applications. Great price for the spec. No idea about quality.

WOW!, and OUCH!, all rolled into one ...

Those Amazon reviews should be taken with lorry load of salt. It's an alright price for a smart TV, but it's not full HD and if you're going to be staring at it for the next few years, it's not going to be the most satisfying of experiences.

Experience of cheap brand TVs like this is that the '4K' is not to be taken literally. It'll be perhaps a shade better than 720p (HD Ready) compared to a branded TV.

Great TV for the price. Hot!

Terrible TV

This is just another noname brand from the manufacturer Vestel. Vestel produce a lot of very cheap TVs and market them under literally dozens of names to make it appear that there are a lot of competing suppliers. They are just the same TV with very slight variations between them. It makes no difference which of their TVs you purchase there really wont be much difference between them. Some people will be attracted to a name they haven't heard of rather buying from brands like Bush or Alba. Some might associate the names with old British brands of the same name and feel nostalgic or nationalistic. Don't be fooled they are produced in countries like Slovenia or Turkey are just a rubbish as each other. You may be lucky and get one that works well for a long time, or as is most likely you will get it and barely lasts the minimum warranty period they are designed for. To get a better quality TV you have to pay more - sometimes not much more. In the old days TVs used to last for ever - it was a reliable product. Now it is a disposable item.

For the money and specs very good on the whole. You do have to play around with the settings a bit to get the best all round combination of picture quality but can't complain for what it is.

Can I use my, sorry can my friend use his Mag 254 box on this for streaming the football in HD

For the price you paid, in general what's your opinion of Digihome sets?

Bought the equivalent 4K model last year that had more HDMI port, more USB ports and HDMI 2 across the board and was cheaper, so for a 1080P TV it doesn't really scream buy me at this price.

Tesco had the 49" 4k for £299 a few weeks ago but seem to have sold out online and not replacing.. bought one for a Christmas present and been hoping it will be half decent.

I take it you recommend it then? How is it with SD or HD content?

Hi, yes delivered a few days ago- actually now ordered another one (49”) for another room.

Does anyone have calibration settings for this TV? Boyf got his delivered today, seems happy with it, though he reckons the stand is a bit wibbly. Edit: Actually, he's been moaning that the remote/or the processor within the TV isn't that responsive, it's apparently quite slow when changing channels.

Did you get it yet? I'd also be interested in reading your opinion on it. I'd be upgrading from a 42" Panasonic plasma, and I don't watch 4k content yet but wanted a bigger TV. Would this be worth it?

Agreed I got one of these and it's slow the sound is appalling as well. I'm not a snob by anyone's standards but even as a bedroom tv which this was I don't game on it and had to get a sound bar to get decent sound. Spend a little more

Hi mate i understand HDR which makes blacks even darker and colours brighter but XRP states in similar aspects to HDR, my sony tv is the kdl32705c look it up its pretty decent with a input lag of 30m

Xreality pro is nothing like HDR mate it stands for high dynamic range much better colours and brightness

Well at the moment i am using 32 inch sony non hdr with 1080p it does have xreality pro which looks amazing could be equivalent to hdr i dont want to go any bigger than 32inch so 40 would be max, atm i think 4k is really overrated, the ps4 pro will upscale games to 1440p and buff it out to 1080p looks amazing on uncharted and tomb raider!

I have the Sony xd80 it has HDR and 400hz motion which is what you want especially for gaming .it is only worth it if size is 49 or above anything smaller won't be much different to 1080p. But most Sony 4k are excellent I would upgrade only if you game on a ps4 pro or the new Xbox one x.if its for movies then yes if its 49 or above and make sure its a 10 bit panel

Hi whats your thoughts on a good 4k tv vs 1080p? I have a sony 1080 hd tv with x reality pro and the picture colours are amazing but i am not sure about 4k thanks

Yep buy a 4K TV even though you are unlikely to watch any 4K content for at least 5 years. Even if you did you are unlikely to notice any difference in picture quality of a 43" set. Remember 1080 content will look better at the native resolution on a 1080 screen than it would upscaled on a 4K screen . So until the majority of what you watch is 4K , stick with a regular full HD ( 1080 ) screen.

That Asda deal was for a new model 4K TV .Not for old rubbish.

Comments like this from someone who put on an Asda deal for a Polaroid TV. Had no intentions of buying this TV was simply saying it can be purchased new for not much more if anyone was thinking about buying it.

For a little more buy a 4k TV instead of buying obsolete rubbish

You can get this on Tesco Direct website brand new for £259, its £279 and code TDX-WFTW takes it down to £259.

I have bought this TV to replace a Techwood TV in my living room.. Digihome and Techwood are made by the same company Vestel. I have had no complaints with the Techwood TV it is about 6 years old and still works great. So it is getting put in the bedroom. I received the Digihome TV today and tested it and everything Is working good. A couple of minor cosmetic marks but wont be seen when wall mounted. Only downfall is there is not any contact address or telephone number for the manufacturer, but if it works as well as the Techwood TV - you wouldn't need the information. It is a great price for a TV that looks good, with good picture and sound quality. Hope this is of some help to you.

Anyone used this TV before? If so what's the quality like?

It's a real shame, I LOVE the 3D on my 40" Sammy, I just wish I could get the same image on a larger screen for decent money :|

I got this one. I had a giftcard for £20 and went through tcb so got it for around £235. Its an amazing amount of tv for the price. Only had it a couple of days but overall find it stunning so far for a budget set. While i think i got a great deal at tesco with this tv i cant help but wonder if i should have gone up to the 55" as screen size is important for really appreciating the extra detail of 4k. That said my room is pretty small and so i sit quite close anyway so maybe the 48" is best. Typical buyers remorse...

Well I've had the MB100-34.23 on for over two months and I've had no problems and its also faster and all round better in my opnion, especially if you enable the PVR function. I put MB100-34.25 on last night and I can't see the difference, so if you want to play it safe I'd put on version 23.

Thanks Percip.. I hate hidden menus, is the new update stable and worthwhile?

Menu then 1505 and then select 'yes' to install, it takes a couple of minutes to install and turns off and then back on. I'm just downloading MB100-34-25 that appears to have gone on today. What I really want is Freeview Play that has appeared on other models that I believe have the same motherboard.

I've downloaded the MB100-34.23 file from the website and put it on a USB, plugged into side of TV... but cant work out how to install the file? Am I just being dense? cheers guys

Thanks, yes, the SD picture quality is one of my main bugbears with the set. luckily I have a decent number of HD sources (and even some in UHD, which look awesome) but if I switch to a SD channel either on the internal tuner or my Humax Freesat PVR the picture quality is almost always awful with lots of obvious artefacts and pixellation. I'd be quite surprised if they can do much about it with an update as I believe a lot of the issue is just the low source quality and the large screen size but maybe they have found a more effective upscaling algorithm....
