From that article:

The company received:

  • 1,618 subpoenas, of which the company fully complied with 42 percent;
  • 229 search warrants, of which the company fully complied with 44 percent;
  • 89 other court orders, of which the company fully complied with 52 percent.

So in other words, they supplied less than half of the data that was demanded through legal mechanisms (presumably they argued that the rest were not valid requests in some way). Seems reasonable to me. I would suggest that if you are likely to being asking Alexa for stuff that law enforcement agencies are interested in, you probably shouldn't be using such a device at all.

When it was on offer at £34.99 (likely to be again soon) for so long it begs the questions how people think that a week later > £40 can generate any sort of "deal"

Got mine this morning.... it's mint, perfect for the job, however it appears the problem lies with the PSU, the newer dots come with a revised psu which is slightly bigger (black case/white bottom hence, won't fit!) I've got 2 dots, the older one had the small psu (all black) and it worked a treat...

Plus, guessing Amazon had decent psu's built, not like the average Chinese fire cracker you get with stuff

We are surely way behind the times in the UK with the reliance on archaic bayonet fittings on our light fittings? I've replaced all my ceiling connections to ones using screw fittings and it's bliss putting the bulbs in them compared to before.

I thought the echo was gimmicky too at first but at £35 I thought I would …I thought the echo was gimmicky too at first but at £35 I thought I would have a play. it's been great for us as we have two kids that are a handful. Instead of staring at our phones we can ask what the weather is like in our area, live sports updates, play music for the kids etc. Not forgetting you can also do all the smart stuff like turn on your Xmas tree or a lamp in a room using smart plugs. Also, control the temperature of the house if you have a Hive/Nest AND even set a kitchen timer if you so wish.


the echo routine is very handy, it can turn off and turn on different devices, just by saying one word, plus give u info and compliment

i wanna try Google, to see if is better at understanding why tv is on and to ask. questions, but prefer amazon as Google account needs just too much info, where i rather keep my Google account away from Google dot, unless a create like a house Google account and Google dot can't Bluetooth
