The £20 original price for the 29 piece set is total BS. The 60 piece version of this has a regular selling price of around £15.

Edited to Suzuki.. I'm not a bike man but like I say no way in a million years is Japanese stuff to be frown upon.

I was with you there all the way up to Ducati? An Italian firm owned by Germans although I dare say there's a few Japanese parts on a bike, like there is on/in everything

Agreed, but I'm quite happy to pay full price for them as they are really good and last a lot longer than the cheap ones.

These are very good. Screwfix have them on offer every now and then.

I have to say the Bosch set, although less drill per pound are excellent quality and last a significant period. The masonry 4 pack by Bosch are fantastic drilling through brick like butter. But remember a concrete lintel is reinforced when you are drilling.. it’s not the same as brick!

These look like them Aldi Workzone ones that are Shine, blunted when drilling through about 12mm of normal steel.

Toolstation have something similar but it has some brick drill bits to. It's only £5

Bought one exactly the same different brand pretty awkward and heavy to use but i only paid £26 with free delivery so not much complaints works ok for the money bit would not pay £39 for one.

How noisy are these? will it annoy my neighbours?

I have a very similar one but I've just 'retired' it (in favour of a cordless blower only). I guess it does what it claims, up to a point, but I wouldn't buy another because: It's heavy and awkward to use. It constantly blocks up with larger leaves (esp if wet). It's too big to get between plants in a border, so you'll still need to rake them out first. It's not powerful enough to suck leaves from any distance (and certainly not acorns or whatever). The blower function is weak. The lead is a nuisance and needs an extension for a long garden. When it works (small, dry leaves on the lawn) the bag fills up very quickly. It's very bulky to store. I've decided the blower is better because it can blow all the leaves out from behind plants, furniture, etc. into a pile where it's a quick, easy job to pick them up. In the couple of weeks since I got it I've also found it handy for getting cobwebs down from high ceilings and dust out of radiators too. Just used it to blow down some exterior woodwork after sanding and before painting. I imagine it would work well to get a charcoal BBQ started too. I'm sure there will plenty of other uses! Oh, an extra bonus, it didn't come from a tax avoiding, trillion dollar, staff abusing, American mega corporation destroying our high streets either (but that's just a personal thing! ;) ).

Will it pick up acorns? Thanks

Hmm if it's a perminant attachment I would just solder and heatshrink if that is the example. Or waterproof butt splices. I wouldn't recommend to have a disconnect point plus two hand crimped point of failures since there is another plug further up? I would give Idc more credit, another main reason it is in white goods is for full automation. If Idc can meet lv214 (German automotive standard, google knows) I would consider that as a pass in performance on connection. Obviously we are not talking about engine bay, but I have seen it on critial systems, but we are far far away from flag/splice crimps. Gernerally; Crimp based connections are better, but you need engineering/design/correct application for the performance, else it can go very wrong if any of the above is not done correctly/to spec. That's why to me I see little advantage of using that over Idc in general home bodgery applications. I can go on all day about how crimp based are better once you can ensure the above is met (that's kinda my job, ha) but in reality the Joe blog who often loses his screwdrivers isn't always going to have his crimp to hand, nor strip the cable to correct insulation length, nor have it in nice perfect spacious, well lit conditions.

Indeed, but for one reason only. Namely to keep procurement and production costs to a minimum. The principle of IDC was created for that reason, it's cheap. IDC was not designed to provide a high quality of connection. Any form of IDC being used in a vehicle is a bad idea, for reasons I've previously given.

If you have space to put a crimp tool in there you have space for the connector itself. My point is specifically for tight applications where you don't have space. Besides if you are fitting in something that snug you shouldn't be using OP ones all together. as you need to have cable relaxation before bending on these crimps, else you wont always have good crimp formation. RE IDC, Not true. Most/all white goods (including boilers) have elements of IDC. They are rated to similar PAPP/automotive standards, and as you may know electronics go in white goods but not usually the connectors even though they get into moisture and constant vibrations. True IDC creates an oxygen free contact point which is ultimately what you want (ie cable wire gets compressed by the V shape metal). Where IDC is "weaker" from a electronics design perspective is the likes of vibration and fretting (feel free to google fretting (nerd) ). Vibration, relaxation of metals (design), manufacturing quality (QC) and application quality are really the main killers of connections... My suggestions are to minimize home user error (y)

Just extending the discussion further, truthfully any insulation displacement connector (IDC) and specifically Scotchlok (and types) of connectors should only be used in a 'get-you-home' scenario. Scotchlok (and types) are particularly unreliable long term. Unless gel-filled, they let moisture ingress inside the wire's conductor, they only connect electrically by conductor adjacent proximity (forming an intermittent connection in time), and using the wrong size Scotlock will irreparably damage the wire. I do use them, but they shouldn't be considered to provide a long-term, permanent electrical connection.

This is the normal price and only really a starter pack. If you are using these regularly there are only a few of each.

Bertie (5) & Ria (4) decided, 5 deals back to "help" brighten up the picture deal landscape, with their own ideas of what I am posting & finding, best one yet is the Triple QX drawing, took an age for one of them to do it, plus they get a mention in our OP's if they help out.. just hope they do not start "charging" for their service! :S That is good value, I needed something that had what this set has got in it and a 1/2 drive, or would have gone for something like that one, still think some are getting carried away with what this deal is not, its a £65 selling everywhere socket set, for half the price with free delivery! :D

Anyone with Costco membership these may be worth a look less pieces then this I am not 100% on price it was £23 excluding vat but a lot of gear for the money I think that the ratchet is most likely to fail as overtightened nuts or bolts should be undone using a breaker bar as provided in both these sets

If I was you I would buy a cheap mains powered hammer drill something like https://www.screwfix.com/p/energer-40cr-710w-percussion-drill-220-240v/9765v you can buy them for less money than this cordless and they will be much more powerful = quicker

Is this drill ok to use on masonry walls? For putting up blinds and curtains? My bathroom window also has tiles on one half, with the correct attachment would this drill some holes to put a blind up? I only want to buy a drill for DIY use but I have a lot of curtain tracks and blinds to put up and possibly other tasks like fixing shoe storage units to the wall (internal wall shared with the next door neighbour).

I got this at full price £6X can't recall price exactly, needed one at short notice. Maybe I had low expectations but this is a bargain price, used for loads of things around the house, it's lightweight, charge time and use isn't bad. Tempted as it's cheap enough to buy another as a backup at this price!

Draper Storm Force Angle Polisher at Costco £59.98 instore

£60 is pretty good price for an angle polisher, 1200w and spins at around 3,300 rpms.
Get dealGet deal

I think with these polishers, what makes them a decent deal is also down to the amount of accessories that come with them. Polishers of this spec from other brands (maybe lesser known, not necessarily lesser quality) can be had from about £45, but it maybe worthwhile to pay £70 for the Tesco (Vonhaus) one that comes with several pads and attachments

Not a reduction, next best price is £85.50 i believe. This is definitely a new item to costco though, the old polisher they had was a cheap branded vibrational one and to be honest, it was garbage. Also it hurt and should’ve come with a hand arm vibration warning on the box

And £1000 to repaint your car if you don’t know what your doing correct (lol)

Reductions like this are normally in the voucher book? Did I miss it? In which case does it end on the 24th when the new book starts?
