Chinese then, but then it's only a tenner, I wouldn't use them on engines etc (a broken tap or easyout is a nightmare to remove), ok for diy metalwork.

Looks identical to one I got about 30 years ago!

Some Draper stuff is OK and some is terrible. For £10 it's probably OK if your expectations are realistic.

Tiny251 h, 15 m ago

£10 is about all a carbon steel set is worth. Was the Screwfix one HSS?

Decent set. The pouch, blades and the small handle look identical to the CK set sold in lots of professional electrical wholesalers. That set usually retails around the £30 mark so this is represents good value. The larger handle also looks smaller and therefore a bit more ergonomic, so an improvement. I wouldn't worry about the VDE warranty expiring. Unless the blades become damaged it would be years before you'd have any risk using a set like this.

He turned around and said to her, "Oh, so you know how to top up the radiators do you then"? I thought that when you bled the radiators, only a little bit of water was lost, but the man made out that she would lose so much of it that she would have to top them all up? Is it a simple procedure, or something best left to a qualified plumber then? Thank you.

Simple job, you don't top up the rads you just top up the pressure to the boiler, check what the pressure guage should it at for your boiler and there will be a pipe going into the boiler which has a little leaver, your turn the leaver and it tops the pressure up, just allow enough water in to repressurise the system that's it, if it's needed at all

My garden is small and I can't justify buying a power mower especially with the amount of space one would take in my garden shed. This does a decent job, you just can't let the grass get too long before you cut it or it will take a few passes. My biggest complaint is when assembling the handle bars, the holes that attached the upper part to the lower part didn't line up properly and I had to drill the holes bigger so I could get the screw in. Oh, and the grass catcher is completely useless. Other than that, it's about what I would expect for the price.

Now that is a really useful comment: first hand experience is always best.

I have this model.

Think of this as an exercise machine, then for 30 quid it is a bargain.

Much better than one of those expensive stationary exercise cycles, as getting a neatly cut lawn provides more motivation, and you could always take it up into your bedroom to hang your clothes on it when you've finish cutting the lawn.

old guy on our street has this type of mower and his grass is impeccable. These mowers do have their place and looks to be a good price.

mcek1 h, 15 m ago

I find this machine weight a bit too light, as my garden does my some …I find this machine weight a bit too light, as my garden does my some bumps, and sometimes it pushes too easily which ends up skimming over the grass. Thinking of getting a new Fiskars or Hecht (where are the all the Qualcasts etc of yesteryear?) with 12-14Kg+, but you're talking 3 to 4 times the price.I have a Bosch cordless Rotak as well, but much prefer a push machine, really cutting instead of tearing the grass.

Maybe wrap some old lead around the bottom of the bars.

The point is that you have these available for the jobs that you know you have to do and for when something comes up unexpectedly. Very difficult to nip out and grab the suitable screwdriver/bit etc when you need it straight away and the shops are all shut.

This is investing a tenner for a set you might use occasionally and with the possibility of using in an emergency if required. Good investment IMO.

Who the hell needs 73 screwdrivers, apart from a barman on Friday night?

It's not 73 screwdrivers. It's 20 screwdrivers, some allen keys and some bits. I'm quite sure I have more than 20 screwdrivers (actually I might well have more than 73) and most of them get used at one time or another.

Edit: It's a lot more expensive (at the moment) but this Draper set is the one I take with me when I need screwdrivers away from the house. Very comprehensive, convenient in its case (not sure if the posted one has a case) and "good enough" quality.

People are used to having brushes on the floor, so don't think twice about it.

So what you do is get this sprayer, mix up a TFR or Snow Foam solution (Bilt Hamber Auto Foam is the best - dont worry about the foaming - it doesn't affect the cleaning ability) and spray it on the car and pressure wash off. That is what this type of sprayer is for. This gets 95% of the grime off. Then wash with the two bucket method with a proper high quality mitt and a good shampoo like from Dodo Juice (e.g. born to be mild).
That will minimise damaging the paint surface.

But give it a good polish and wax and the dirt won't stick as badly in the first place.

Is this the same as a pressure sprayer?

No, it's hand pumped to low pressure compared to the electric ones and more for spraying shampoo on, or for wheels.
