Beware of this model of machine. I bought mine 3 years ago, within 4 months red lights flashed and stopped working (luckily it was still within its warranty so I didn't hesitate to call out engineer). He said it was a faulty sensor. This month, machine stopped working again due to same problem. Phoned Zanussi to be told it would cost £130 to fix this one time only or £170 to take out a year's insurance (which includes replace with new if unable to repair). I always clean filter, empty filter and clean out condenser yet the machine still displays a fault. Do your research on this common problem before purchasing!

Good review, thank you.

I bought from AO via Ebay. I wouldn't recommend it if you have to pin down timescales or anything like that as you have to use Ebay chat for comms not phone- it's 24hrs for a response. If you order direct from AO you can just call up, but I did save £75 using the Ebay code. Incidentally the 'geezer' who AO supplied to install it was hard work. He said he didn't steal from my property (weird.. hadn't considered it till he said that), refused to "install" it because there was a dip in the corner, said about leaving feedback 'and if it's negative don't bother at all'. Just spent £493.. made me feel like I'd done something wrong? Basically put a downer on the what should have been a good experience. Also later discovered he put a scratch down the side of it when installing. I ended up installing it myself, got £10 of the £20 back off AO.. but all he did was pull out the transit bolts, screw on the cold and waste tighten a collar screw. Not even worth £10. Not registered for the warranty yet can't see it being an issue. Did have to "request" my invoice from AO which shouldn't be necessary, but was a button click and instant email. Can you tell I'm not impressed with AO? I bought a manual level I've redone the legs enough times now I don't think it's going to get much better. I had to increase one leg much more than the others and I wondered if that could be an issue, but looking at the base of the washer at full spin it looks solid, glance up the machine and you see the vibration more obvious. This (and considering reports on Youtube etc) suggests to me the chassis of the washer is flexing, the absorbers aren't optimal taking the forces in the drum. To be fair my old Miele had a solid steel chassis so maybe my expectations were too high. I just find it disconcerting that I can feel vibrations through my (solid tiled!) floor, it's gently vibrating the kitchen cabinets (not in direct contact) and I wonder if it's vibrating the pipework behind the washer. I can see two parts of the washer moving apart from each other when looking closely! (shock) Have seen a number of people complaining online, but it's a small number vs the good reviews (which induced me to buy it), so it might be a crap shoot and I got unlucky, or this is normal and I'm worrying excessively. I suspect LG would say it's normal. BTW, LG can supposedly be a bit slow when it comes to repairs. Like, might be within days, but you might wait weeks. Something else to factor in. Worst thing though is this goddamn rubbery smell. I'm highly sensitive to smells, but it's pretty obvious clothes dried in the machine are coming out with a burnt rubbery smell. I used lower temp drying it's marginally better. Hoping this fades but 10 days in it's the same. Otherwise the machine is great. Manual not great but simple to use. Clear display. Don't touch the dial to use for spin or dry only. Washing results are very good indeed! Drying is great too, some creasing. Everything comes out feeling soft fluffy and clean. I'm going to put in a complaint in about these two issues tomorrow and I'm contemplating a return, but on balance I'll probably keep it. The next nearest good washer dryer is the John Lewis badged AEG and that's a couple hundred more. Maybe I'll post a video of the vibration? Wow I wrote a lot there.. think I needed to 'vent' haha hope it helped (:I

bongbrain

Did you manage to register for the 5 year warranty ok. Buying from Argos eBay? Did you get vibration sorted?

The A+++ ratings are usually achieved by connecting both hot and cold supply, and only qualify in rarely used programs eg 95C programmes - the hot draw (which can produce slightly higher efficiency in HOT washes) is rarely used on modern machines even when attached, regular cotton washes wont touch it for example, machines already use very efficiency amounts of water (hence modern machines solenoids snap on/off rapidly to draw in a tiny tiny amounts) and will only produce such efficiency levels IF your washer in located close to a high efficiency premium condenser boiler... It's a bit of an industry con job basically....

I've been looking at a few washer dryers recently. Haven't seen anyone thats better that A. A is the best ive seen or am I searching the wrong stores.

ceanth

Noticed that ao.com gives dB values for their products. Can't seem to find anything like this for this LG machine. From their website it says you can download additional additional programs, for anybody who had this machine is there a shorter program available which is less than 30mins? Finally, for the combined wash and dry program, how long does that cycle take?

devinn

This is what it says in the product description.. This LG washer dryer is powered by an Inverter Direct Drive motor, which ensures it is quiet running and reliable.

DanyBoyDeal

Yes if you like wash and dry wash must be 5 kg or less

TeamMCS

I suppose the wet weight (which the washing machine + dryer are rated at) is a mismatch. You can wash @ a wet weight of 8k but can only dry and a WW of 5. So realistically you can only wash 5kg (maybe a half load?) of washing for it to come out normally?

DanyBoyDeal

There is no washer dryer with same load wash and dry

banjomike

Worth noting that it cannot dry a full wash load so you might need to do two drying runs for one wash load. Which? make it a Best Buy at 68% "What's it great at? This LG is hugely impressive when washing clothes. It blitzes tough and dried-on stains on cottons and is just as effective when removing stains from synthetics. And the way it spins water away from clothes is outstanding. We also found it incredibly easy to use. Is there anything I should watch out for? Its drying power is mediocre. Sometimes you'll need to add extra time on when the drying ends to get the clothes completely dry. Is there anything else I should know? Energy and water use is a touch on the high side. Should I buy it? Possibly.  Its cleaning power is really quite remarkable, so if you don't mind having to add extra time to your drying program, this might be one to consider."
