i am the same i have real bad frizz, i always use serum and dryer then the straighteners, i was thinking about this in hope that it would be less damage to my hair. it is the cheapest i have seen too? i am in 2 minds. :?

"better hairdryers out there 21 October 2008 By kellie from hertfordshire Overall Rating 2 StarsFair "I brought this because my hair can ge frizzy. but when i used it, it coated my hair in oil that made it look and feel really greasy. I returned the product because it made my hair feel horrible." "

lynnexxxo

I was thinking of getting one of these but could not find any reviews online, anybody got one? Are they worth the money or should i just stick to using a serum/blow dry product and then my normal hairdryer? The refills seem quite pricey to which also put me off.

I think the retailers website has the wrong energy rating (a tumble dryer doesn't have a wash or spin rating). According to the ]Candy Website this is a 'C' rated Appliance : Technical Specification Energy Efficiency : C Energy Consumption* : 5.47 kwh/cycle Electrical Supply : 230-240 volts Rated Loads : 2500 watts Weight Packed : 33 kg Weight Unpacked : 31 kg Dimensions Packed (HxWxD) : 90x65x62 cm Dimensions Unpacked (HxWxD) : 85x60x60 cm

Squelds

Cant be that bad its a B energy rating after all ? doodygirl do you know if this one can add a hose to it to allow the water to go to a drain pipe, like a washing machine ? Ive seen some Candy's that do but cant see it on this one. Also is it a good dryer ? The review points to it being good, and tbh for the price it looks it. My Bosch one, which has plagued me since i got it, finally packed up last week and ive been using the laundret ever since. Have been looking second hand but this seems ideal.

House of Fraser website, so bit of a faux pas :) Hey we all do it at some time! I have the same model, didn't get a bag with it but only paid £20. It was reduced then but not from £99, think about £45 (?) Think £25 is still good as there are a few extra bits here. It is a great hairdryer and very quiet so would recommend. Make a great Christmas pressie.

Confused!..is it Debenhams or House of frazer? And I agree Thats nowhere near worth the supposedly original price...but not a bad price now

I bought some of these from poundland - they do seem to cut down on drying time and leave clothes less creased. Can't comment on damage point as most of my decent clothes can't be tumble dried anyway so it's only bedding/towels/socks that get put in the dryer usually! For a pound they were worth a punt I thought! :)

kevin1963

i've got some and had no prblems at all - save on tumble dryer sheets.

candie

I use these all the time, and they do cut down on drying time, and haven't damaged any of my clothes:thumbsup::thumbsup:

spraint

Those dryer balls look very abrasive. What you save on the electricity you spend on darning/replacing worn clothes,

e16guy

I've got better balls than everyone else. But then I did buy them at the Ideal Home Show a few years ago for £10. I use mine all the time, can't really say if they make any difference at all, probably not when I think about it! Me and mum used to have a tradition of buying a really useless thing at the Ideal Home Show each year. The following year we got the electric food bag sealers (don't ask!).

Oh the laws of physics are broken, as it is in an alternate universe, didn't I mention that? Stop spouting an inadequate view of physics theory, open your eyes, listen to the birds singing, and breathe in the coffee aroma. As it happens, even in this universe, there is enough energy in a teaspoon of matter to dry the entire planet, but it depends how you use it. There are ways of running a tumble drier to use a LOT less energy in the real world, just as there are ways of making cars now that drive a similar distance on a tenth of the petrol that a 1910 Rolls Royce does. The fuel had the same energy back then. Fortunately designers are not bound up with narrow views of ONE aspect of ONE physics theory, and use other physical properties. If you had looked for "A rated tumble drier" on any search engine, you would see more than one manufacturer has done just this, and it really is NOT rocket science. Experts, don't ya just love 'em :-( Ex= used to be Spurt= a drip under pressure

Kommunist

An interesting article on appliance rating system: http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=101

Please explain how less energy evaporates more water, in technical terms based on the laws of physics.

Just (a month later) throw into the pot that this Zanussi is a washer dryer. The cheapest Miele washer dryer appears to be in the £850 mark. Compound the interest on the money saved, assume 2x, maybe 3x the lifespan (though to be honest, I think you may be buying into brand hype there). Miele does get the best buy from Which?, but it's not very far ahead of this Zanussi.

Bristle.Hound

In the same respect 1 Miele might last as long as 1 Zanussi Who knows ... PS I've given you a rep for constructive argument!

xigent

Thanks for those thoughts Bristle Hound. The features on the £875 Miele are of little interest to me, the £550 model would be quite adequate. Even so, I am not convinced that Miele are good value, but I am impressed by their claim that the average life of their machines is 20 years and several people have told me that most go on for much longer. It may be that the Zanussi offers better value if it has - A well made stainless steel drum A robust suspension system An adjustable drive belt Motor brushes and drum bearings etc. that are available separately at a reasonable price A reliable control system A good chance of lasting more than fifteen years Is there anybody out there that actually knows these details? For all we know one Miele may last as long as four or five Zanussis.

Bristle.Hound

Just found this http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/products/details/?modelcode=MIE-WT2670WPM which would have a similar spec to the Zanussi Its costs a whooping £875 delivered! It does however come with a 3 year warranty. My argument on this is I can have 2.5 Zanussi for 1 Miele So averaging it out 5 years per Zanussi = Around 12.5 years use Whereas 1 Miele = 15-20 years My argument being once the Miele gets older, there are bound to be problems. Law of averages with kitchen appliances. Whereas I get a new Zanussi every 5 years. I might even be lucky and get one that lasts longer than 5 years. And yes I might get 1 that lasts less than 5 years. However, I might get a Miele than doesn't last 15-20 years. I know, I know its all speculative Just food for thought ...

Kankan101

No Probs I wasnt refering to machines not lasting 15 years plenty can if looked after properly my wife is still using our Candy Turbomatic TC1000 Washer Dryer which we brought in 1991 with just 1 £45 repair. What I was refering to is the materials used nowadays and to the build standards you would be lucky to get a modern machine lasting 3-5 years without having a failure. The design, build quality and materials used in Turkish & Chinesse made machines are barely legal, good example Teba went bust because their machines were such poor quality, cookers and ovens with the bare minimum allowed insulation, kichens were hotter than the food. Yes John Lewis models are just rebadged electrolux models, you get 3 years with JL, standard waranty for other appliances from JL is 2 years. Miele appliances are well worth the money, best quality appliances you can buy. If you get a warrany on another brand appliance thats £150 extra so buying a Miele is well justified. Average Miele machine lasts 15-20 years.
