What's the point of showing a deal if it can't be had?

Van1973

Mine is still in good order and used a couple of times a week minimum for at least the past 18 months!

Dodge62

I'm sure its a good machine, but I doubt it has the community or depth of support that the Instant Pot has. There is a very active Facebook group, and the UK importers are constantly on there, offering help, advice, spare parts and sometimes even free replacements when people have accidentally damaged something. I certainly wouldn't buy a Tefal or anything else over an IP just because it's supposedly a "known brand".

thetarget

A possible useful tip from reviewer Sandy Toes: Side note - I cooked 3 pounds of sliced russets for mashed potatoes a couple of nights ago using my 'savory food' ring and the ring emerged completely odor free while imparting no off odors to the potatoes. Who knew that potatoes were an odor remover? https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/instant-pot-duo-v2-8l-electric-pressure-cooker-79-95-amazon-prime-2737842

GasGaGlide

Tefal uses non stick and flakes which isn't good long term for durability or your health.

Tower T16008 One Pot Express Electric Pressure Cooker with Smoker, 1000 W, 6 L - Silver £69.99 Dispatched from and sold by Electrical Emporium @ Amazon
A great pressure cooker with the added bonus of a hot and cold smoker. Nearly got this a week ago for £89.99. Seems to be that price everywhere. Only 10 left.
abulkasam

Try adding a tray full of ice at the bottom. That should help to keep it cool. And you will need to sacrifice one near the heating element. So maybe leave that clear or put something else say a potato?

tek-monkey

I'm yet to try the actual pressure cooker bit, really must give it a go. I didn't have much success with cold smoking, it still melted the cheese after 10 minutes. I suppose it was a softish cheddar though, maybe I need something more waxy.

abulkasam

I think it got over smoked/too high a temperature. Might need to do smaller rib amounts or with bone in. The one interesting issue is that if you do cold smoke, it should keep the temp low, but if you end up adding moisture/liquid, that ends up increasing the temperature to high - so it may or may not work for the low and slow approach. If anyone has found a fool proof method, for different cuts, that would be great, otherwise should get there from experimentation. I did make old hen curry in the normal pot (not the smoker pot). and that came out amazing, as the hard chicken went so so tender, and it just took 53 minutes. I did 20 minutes first, opened (once the pressure went down quickly), a further 20 minutes. checked again. After 40, it was nearly done, so added cabbage at this point. And it was done after a further 13 minutes. This curry can take 3 hours and not be tender, so this was a massive result. I will try either lamb or beef ribs or whole smoked chicken next i think.

tek-monkey

Any luck with the ribs? Gonna try a gammon tonight I think, no idea how long to cook for though!

abulkasam

Also got one. Still experimenting. Definitely smokes. Have it set near window and vent as kitchen does have a nice smoked smell. Plan to try some beef ribs.

I'm not even going to bother

joedastudd

Not sure what being Muslim has to do with it but hey. Ever used a rice cooker? The texture and flavour from steaming rice is far better then standard boiling. If your eating rice that often and just using a hob I assume our rinsing the rice and using the absorption method? Should be taking longer then 10 minutes to do it right normally about 15-20 minutes. Rice cooker removes all the hassle. As long as you measure it right pretty much nothing can go wrong. A lot of restaurants use them, pretty much every Chinese and Japanese kitchen as well a s taking off more and more in the rest of asia.

I have butterfly stainless steel for use on induction

roythomas

Well spotted OP

bytemaster

Agreed, definitely no flimsy, my only concern is that the pot is non-stick, not too sure how long that will last. I would prefer the Instant Pot which has a stainless steel pot.

solomongrundy

Got the smoker myself....certainly not flimsy. This is the entry level pressure cooker. Great price for an entry into electric pressure cooking.

blootoon763

I briefly had the model up from this (think it was the T16008) with the smoker and did not think much of it, much too flimsy, you would think the sides were made of paper and i did not like the way the lid sealed or in my case failed to seal as it was so badly designed so mine went back the next day. I did however love my old tower stainless pressure cooker but now i have a Fagor CHEF8RXTRA and it is the best i have seen or owned yet.

Mine was brand new and there were quite a few left but i suppose you do need to check though.

sam_of_london

Yes they might even be non working or damaged customer returns. Many people just steal little parts out of the box, so while it may look complete if you look only at the box , it may not be functional due to missing parts. And then hard time explaining when returning the item. I have been caught out on this at tkmaxx, Aldi and Lidl who do not seal boxes initially and then seal boxes when they put low price stickers on them which are basically rubbish with the missing parts.

Tapasman

Reckon it'll be only those stores with stock left over from September. Might be a bit of a wild Aldi hunt...

Hi nextofkim The deal was posted on an instant pot Facebook group (yes they do really exists! Facebook groups for everything nowadays!). I can't find the post now so unfortunately can't confirm which store/s it was at. A few weeks back aldi did have one in store https://www.aldi.co.uk/p/93550/0 Looks very similar to the instant pot. Keep your eyes open there seems to be a rise in popularity of these multi cooker pots, all very similar under different guises. Hope you find one soon :)

The instant pot duo looks better as can do yogurt and slow cooking, and has 2 pressures, but obviously more expensive, however Aldi had one in recently that was cheaper and worked at higher pressures (this is only 7.2 PSI so would be 'low pressure'). I am after one and missed the Aldi one (was £35 in our local), but this just doesn't seem to have enough functions for the price. Hot for the reduction though.

Sorry I do not have a stove top although I do know that the instant pot is probably a lot safer as you can set it and forget it, unlike a stove top pressure cooker. It's more than that though. I make yoghurt in mine, I fry and brown mince, sear steaks. I use it as a slow cooker too. In fact I cooked the turkey crown in it last christmas and everyone loved it. Probably the most used kitchen gadget I have.

davelfc

Better to remain quiet and be thought an idiot than speak out and remove all doubt, is another saying that comes to mind right now.
