No I didn't have that label. I received another one last night and it is really good, great condition and is making great coffees so far. So second time lucky, just waiting for my refund for the first one now. Neither of the items had that label on. Hopefully they don't resend out the one that leaks to somebody!

Elbandito

mine says 'this unit has been tested with water' on the box and there's no leaking. Did the one you get also has such label?

brad.fordbulls

Received my coffee machine this evening. Condition was absolutely fine, it had clearly been used but definately acceptable for a warehouse product. Plugged it in, ran water through it, constant dripping leak from the left side of where the heater compartment is... Great. 1.5 hours on chat, return booked, £8 goodwill gesture. Reordered from warehouse, hopefully more luck with tomorrow night's delivery. As previously discussed...checking at warehouse is minimal, surprised if it went as far as plugging in or filling items, customers the test dummies unfortunately.

Received coffee machine today, appears to be unused and in perfect condition, but the box has certainly seen better days. Excellent purchase for the price.

Could anyone who ordered and receives today please post on the condition of the item as an indication of how 'used' these are. Still tempted but not sure how much damage they will have. Thank you.

Got one of these, great when out on walks, only qualm is that the water tank is not properly insulated, so unless you are basically making it straight away or carrying a thermos the espresso can be somewhat cool. I would recommend looking at the barista kit for a bigger water tank and making double espresso and a carry case to try and help insulate it a bit if anyone is interested in this.

With you there!!! I DO NOT NEED THIS! I DO NOT NEED THIS! WHY DO I WANT THIS? (annoyed) :p

There's another HUKD thread about this which gives the (reassuring and sensible) reasoning for this. I also was really sceptical and registered with them using a specific disposable - all seems good though, no spam. My order was lost for 3 weeks by Royal Mail (wimbledon depot meltdown) and they sent a replacement via DPD without any fuss at all. Quality of goods as described- good value. Speak as you find innit - I'd deffo use them again (y)

Is this microphone bidirectional?

LouPapy

Yes that's right, you have to be a member (register) to see the deals. Not sure why they do this but I definitely recommend to do it if you buy any sports clothings/shoes stuffs. Then again I've bought lots of stuff that I didn't really need so don't do it! :)

I got mine last week. Very happy with it. It makes a nice latte. I was looking for a machine with a steam wand. There isn't much creama that comes off the espresso as others have said. but it's is quicker than a stovetop. As an occasional coffee drinker it does what I want it to. It is sold out on Amazon for £55 with great reviews.

trew

Could you please explain the upside-down method?

therealjohnsimpson

Sold out, so you can all stop arguing now.

J_.

Beware coffee poseurs who need to justify being conned on a fake espresso machine with a sub 15 bar pump - I've bought cheapo machines before - and they ruin the coffee you put in them. It's more comparable to filter coffee and harder to use. I threw mine in the bin and bought a real espresso machine

Didn't think aeropress was designed for espresso either.

Are you using the pressurised filter baskets in the machine (double wall)? The coffee machine comes with pressurised baskets which gets a nice crema from a supermarket ground coffee which is what the average person puts in. If you start putting super fine espresso in the machine you need to be using none pressurised baskets. Worth googling the subject, but supermarket ground coffee is not fine enough to create a high pressure so they falsely create pressure with a special basket. If you use “properly” ground espresso you don’t need pressurised baskets as the coffee is so fine it creates the pressure itself. The problems you are experiencing will be caused by using “properly” ground coffee in a pressurised basket and the machine doesn’t have enough power to force the water through. Either stick to more coarser coffee or look for non pressurised filter basket for your machine and use finer coffee.

At what point did I tell you what to do in my comment? I said just because it’s the same price it was 3 years ago doesn’t mean it’s not a deal and I have put in some context to current prices due to the pandemic. But I’m glad you’re not lost (lol)

KevinHidalgo

Actually yes, thats a good point, im using non pressurised coffee grinder. If you are not gonna use one of them then is not worth doing all the upgrade

KevinHidalgo

Yes big time. IMO thats the way you can get the best coffee from this or any machine. Ideally you want reliable grinders so you can just grind and know its not gonna change the size.

someone_new

So I have this exact setup including the swapped out frother. I've switched back to the pressurised basket though as I don't think my Grinder goes fine enough. Is it worth me just getting a grinder that's better suited to espresso and not upgrade the machine also?

Cheapest price I’ve seen for a few weeks. I’m personally waiting for the Bambino Plus, but if you’re wanting the DTP this is a good ‘lockdown’ price.

Great little machine but is getting a little expensive now. Paid £150 for a new machine 3 years ago and still going strong. Just picked up a sage smart grinder pro for £100 at John Lewis new but no box as was ex display to finally start grinding my own beans

chrisbanes

It’s been out of stock at JL for a few weeks. Looks like it is out of stock at Amazon too.

Pretty sure it's been this price at John Lewis and on Amazon for a while
