the because they think there 2-6 year old kids need top to mid spec tablet. (BTW kids at this age do not relay know what slowness is. and is a good wait to teach them how to wait) that will cost more then need to buy a case on top of that and after 6 month get angry once it breaks down or get broken. so for the price it is good. only think i would do is side load google play on it to open up the apps you can get.

Amazon series devices, tablet, TV stick etc, I have to be paid to use them again, never buy from them. Be warned of two main problems:1. Forced system update, you don't have a choice, this is even worse than Apple products service.2. After forced system updates, guess what... slooooooweeeeerrrr, and even looooowwwweeeerrr disk space.Grumbles:Low price, low build quality, fine, accept that.1. It's not pure Android, so not all android things compatible, 2. You don't have same control as android, so basically you are renting the device from amazon, not "owned".3. Slow... laggy... low disk space... you're pretty much just able to do Amazon things.Similar priced pure android tablets will be a heavenly gift compare to this.

Very interesting. Im sure my Grandson wont mind but on a serious note is there any way to stop the updating ?
appreciate being told it is slow and lacking in memory, but can anyone offer up a better alternative at this price.??

Lol, "almost like they want you to use their own vod service".

Though strictly speaking, that may not 100% be the case, lol, in a round about kind of way, you may not be as far off the mark as you may think perhaps?.

After all (as a good example), Amazon website refuses to sell the Google Chrome Cast upon it ... (because the Chrome Cast directly mirrors similar features as that of what it's own Fire Stick does).

It reminds me of certain stories I read about last year also, that went along the lines of this, Apple was disabling the functionality of the Google Chrome Browser on it's iDevices/iProducts, but interestingly enough, the Mozilla Firefox Browser had absolutely no issues running/functioning upon those same said Apple list of products ...

(There are no doubt many other examples out there of similar misgivings perhaps?, but those were my 2 notable ones anyway).

So, in the grander scheme of things (so to speak), who knows what some of these Industrial Giant's are truly up to?, lol.

I've tried Terrarium before too, and that's not half bad either (excellent for TV Shows, but dead in the water for Movies though - even though it blatantly has a 'Movie' section within it, looooool).

What other one's are out there? (of the same/similar ilk to Mobdro, LiveNetTV, and Terrarium?), thanx.

It's perhaps not a bad tablet for a child if you put it in a rugged case, in my opinion, though even then it is frustratingly slow for some things, which at the price I don't mind too much, and doesn't look that great when not watching Prime videos that it seems best optimised for, according to the reviews, with the brightness full up or it looks a bit murky (HD Youtube videos look less great, looks like a cheap tablet, and text quality is poor compared to my mother's old iPad but at the price, is a comparison even fair, beyond that I, unreasonably at the price, would obviously like it to be better) but that at the price and for a bit of fun with Alexa... Hot, obviously!

When Amazon we're selling refurbs I bought an 8gb and 16 GB 7"and they arrived brand new, there was a thread. on here at the time. I was very pleased with them.

The 8 GB was a present to an elderly relative to get them into computing. It did not take me long to fill up the 16 GB and even though they have an sd hc memory expansion slot, not all apps will transfer to a card.

Really 8gb should not be sold nowadays, phone or tablet, it is too small. Start with 16gb mminimum!
