Thank you that’s fantastic and I have all the ingredients in the cupboard. You need to try the Sainsbury’s GF bread done at the bakery department and you don’t have to toast it and it’s nice on a sandwich not toasty

I went and bought new yeast thinking my yeast must have been off but even with new yeast still made a brick loaf. Tried in Panasonic Bread Maker under the Gluten Free setting another brick so tried on the quick bake and another brick. 6 loaves I have tried to make with this flour and all of them came out like bricks.

Get some more and build an extension. I do agree I had the same outcome with a Kenwood bread maker on wheat free setting and I kept thinking it was yeast too but it was not.

Probably a dead thread now but I noticed yesterday that Lidl have reduced the price of both their white & wholemeal strong bread from from 75p to 69p (that's for a 1.5kg bag). That makes the wholemeal extremely good value.
Good flour - this year crop are very strong and far much better quality than last few years at Allinson`s (Flour from Allied Milling / Currently used in Kingsmill bread). Water absorption is low - means less push on water = more nutrition.
I don't buy Very Strong bread flour but of late, I have noticed that Aldi have now started selling it. I think it's the same normal price as Strong White & Wholemeal so 75p per 1.5kg.

Just in case anyone's interested, Aldi currently has their own-brand Strong White flour on offer at 69p per 1.5kg bag which is the cheapest I can find. It's also pretty good flour; way better than Tescos own-brand.
Good flour and a reasonable price
Thanks, I'll get some for my wife.

Stone ground bread flour damages a bread machines non stick over time, so says my Panasonic manual (yes, posh bread maker over here!)

Asda flour seems the best cost to performance ratio at 78p ish it seems better and finer ground than Allison's.

If you want the absolute best though, it's Waitrose Canadian flour. Which is also on offer right now at £1.25ish a bag.

Oh and Panasonic bread makers are the dog's. Totally different beast compared to Morphy Richards et al.

Voted hot though as for Allison's this is cheap. Be careful in tesco though, the one near us NEVER cleans the flour shelves and they're full of grim dirty old flour especially at the edge where there's a lip. A great way to bring flour weevils and booklice into the house. Typical Tesco.

It's hard to make the case that 'branded' flour is materially better than any other flour. It's flour! Aldi are also currently doing Spelt and Rye flours which is nice.

I think they are about 79p for 1.5kg. I have always had a lovely loaf from them and I recommend that you give them or the Aldi ones a try. I used to use Allison flour all the time and there is no difference as far I can make out. I also use the Lidl yeast which is also cheaper than the Tesco own brand or the Allinson brand.

As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing special about their flour in terms of wheat variety, origin, milling or anything else. But please correct me if I'm wrong. What IS worth paying for is a stone-ground, unbleached flour such as Bacheldre. Not that I make much se of white flour...

Was aware that Aldi and Lidl do their own strong bread flour but unfortunately I have no access to ether Aldi or Lidl only the Co-op or Tesco and must admit I usually just buy Tesco own brand Bread Flour rather than pay the extra for a branded kind as don't think it makes any real difference but seeing as the Allinson is the same price as the Tesco one at the moment then I may as well buy the Allinson one.

On the other hand I also know that some people prefer to use a branded product...hence the reason I mentioned it in the description
Yes, finally a White Flour strong enough to be eaten by someone like me. I'm sick and tired of benching and deadlifting crazy amounts in the gym, only to come home and consume typical, weak flour.
