Batteries are electric 😜 how about “32V is the model number. This mower requires the plug on the end of the flex to be plugged into a 240V mains outlet. The model 240V mower is battery operated” 😜

Yeah I replaced my Flymo hover with one of these and really regret it. The end result looks rubbish and for some reason it's difficult to push it around

richje100

Cut mine great and was a little wet too. Only mess was from my strimmer.

cbflazaro1

Same here. Leaves all the grass all over the garden. Clumps it up and doesn't collect it. Not very powerful either. Constantly slows down on thicker grass. Looks like a stalling car

Just replaced this after 2 years, +1 replaced blade. Went with the Qualcast 1600W Electric Rotary Lawn Mower - 37cm @ homebase. £35 more but an extra years warranty and a few last trips back and forth with the bigger blade size!

Chulmney_Warner

I would avoid. We have just purchased this to cut a garden of around 14m x 10m. The biggest problem is that if there is any moisture at all in the grass it sticks to the underside. You need to scrape out the stuck grass underneath with a stick everytime you empty the back. Even when there is capacity in the bin, it often gets so full underneath that grass seeps out the side and leaves a line of cut grass along the edge of the line. Just FYI... it was bright sunshine and I can't remember when there was rain so we are not talking about damp grass. I mowed the previous weekend (7th) and on the 14th and the motor really struggled, I think that was more due to the grass stuck underneath. The ground is very uneven and due to how light the mower is it doesn't really create a very good finish (equal issue with the small, plastic roller at the end). The lines created are therefore not particularly pronounced. The cutting width is also narrow so you'll be up and down many more times than necessary. Ultimately, I'd get a metal roller mower if possible.

Mike_HUKD

Can anyone vouch for this? Was about to pull the trigger on a different flymo on Amazon but don't know if I would just be paying extra for a gimmick (embarrassed) Flymo Easi Glide 300 Electric Hover Collect Lawn Mower, 1400 W

Agreed. I think this is possibly the cheapest cordless you'll find and similar size too - also at Homebase. I wouldn't go back to a corded one now after two seasons with a cordless. https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/uks-cheapest-cordless-lawnmower-9999-at-homebase-2923004

thanks... will have to wait a few more years then ;)

sparklehedgehog

Big toys will be fine as anything large it bumps into it has a sensitive bumper that it detects collision then turns and goes another direction to clear the obstacle. Anything small is either at risk of getting damaged by the blades or clogging the mower so a tidy garden is a good idea

Good for you. I just save the money for my kid...

I have mine 9 years. Still runs like new. Sharpened the blade recently for the first time. They also fold down almost flat so they are great if you only have a small shed.

paulbohs

have 1 of these, its grand. Cuts the grass very slowly due to the small cutting area plus you have to empty the box loads so plenty of stops for nice walks. It does the job and for 50 quid a good stop gap until you can afford something bigger to save you some time. heat

Ok here is something constructive (and tangible information) about the product. I used it for the first time yesterday. Battery does not last quite as long as would hope but it is a very cold time of year to be fair which will impact performance. My grass was also exceptionally long having not been cut for 3 months and I had at least 3-4 times my usual volume of grass to cut. No I am not lazy but I have been without a mower for that time since last one packed in! What is good: * Quiet, noticeably much less noise than a wired mower. * No cable is lovely, almost takes a bit of getting used to in the way you move around out of habit. * Light weight. * Cutting height adjuster is instant and easy to use, superb in fact, just flick the switch. * Battery charging is fast, approx. 1 hr if near flat. * The handles are easily folded down to save space if needed in shed (optional but handy feature). What is bad: * If you have let your grass get exceptionally long as I had, it will be working hard and get through the battery quicker. The blade also gets clogged up with the grass. Even when I went to the highest setting to take it down a bit. It makes you think it is cutting out, but it is not, it just gets stuck is all and needs cleared. * The basket seems slightly smaller than my last similar sized wire mower. It could be a little bit bigger. * If you have let your garden get out of control, or you have a big park like garden your not going to get it done on 1 single battery charge. In summary and overall after my first use and all things considered, I am quite happy. I have a medium sized front/back garden area, and am in no doubt I will be able to cut it all on 1 charge, when it is the usual and typical summer cuts. required.

aym280

Might be a different model, but the prototype is the same!

colin10086

A completely different model.

aym280

I haven't used my flymo for years now. So can't tell. I emptied the basket and get rid of clogging materials and that's it. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=4037953 And there are other similar complaints.

noahsdad

@aym280 Bosch have great reviews for their electric garden equipment. They often have a high price on their products that reflects a more premium product. Can't speak for Bosch Washing Machines, Cookers or Hoovers or whatever as know nothing about them. You seem to be the only one who has reported grassing flying everywhere with the Flymo. Not saying it is not true, but perhaps there is a specific reason why that is happening? You have to clean any lawnmower out regularly after use, ideally after every cut. Like the blades need scraped, the inside of the surrounding compartment needs scraped, and even the basket benefits from a clean. If you want top performance, then regular cleaning helps with that, whatever brand or make of lawnmower. Re the Qualcast, that is the cheap option, and considered the cheapo brand. The Flymo is a bit more mid level somewhere inbetween that and the Bosch's. So while I don't quite expect Bosch standard, I expect something inbetween hopefully.
