I bought this when it was originally released, and it sounds as good today as it did then. It's also great to see one of the members, Jeff Lynne, is back touring with his ELO. He's probably one of the best writer/producers ever, his history in the industry is worthy of much more recognition than he's received.
Newbold14 h, 15 m ago

Probably the best album ever produced, by anyone, anywhere.............

Only if you like this genre of music, if you don't then there's nothing wrong with that, everyone is different. I've never heard it and I've been on this Earth 47 years, so that's what I'm going to do right now go and have a listen.
The greatest collection of talent. Ever.
Imo anyways.
Love some Traveling Wilburys, but sad when you realises three have already left.
No way. Boring if you like 3 minute popish songs.

Blown away by progressive rock.

It's the nature of the beast as they are more complicated with all those PCIe lanes and quad channel memory plus they sell in much smaller quantities so this is typical for a niche high end product.

Its a server grade CPU that is optimised as such and because of that there are far better price/performance ratio CPUs on the market.Still the desktop paperweight you get with it might make it alone worth the purchase!

Id say workstation/ enthusiast grade rather than server grade.

Its got cores over other consumer grade CPUs and for those who want/need/willy wave more cores this is a better proposition than a server chip imo

The 1700 has a lower TDP due to its much lower clock speed, rather than because it's binned well. It has the lowest base clock of any Ryzen CPU. In terms of overclocking I guess you could say it technically overclocks the most, but only because it starts so much lower. In terms of maximum frequency, it's certainly less likely than the 1800X to hit 4GHz or above.

32619948-3MUPw.jpg
Of course, we're talking about fairly insignificant margins either way. The 1700 was always a much better deal, though the margins are thinner now with the 1800X coming down in price so much.

Price-wise for an SSD, not bad given the market, but the specs quoted tell you very little about actual performance. Speeds quoted are max under optimal conditions, and are probably just quoting the SATA 3 limits only the read speed will get anywhere near that.

Do bear in mind that this is the lowest spec SanDisk SSD - no DRAM cache (lower performance and endurance, can be significantly lower on write performance), and a variable bill of materials, so one batch of SSDs can have different NAND to the next, most likely TLC (some have been shown to have MLC though). The 480GB SSD Plus does at least have a DRAM cache which makes it a potentially decent budget option... assuming the price is actually 'budget'.

If I said nothing he'd be none the wiser, so did him a favour to be fair

I agree. Fair point.
Prices are being kept artificially high. There is a long term NAND shortage which manufacturers have had ample time to expand production by now, but have little or no inclination to - as it will mean more expendature and lower selling price.

NAND flash consumption will only increase as devices demand bigger and bigger storage, they should have been prepared for this.

I'd be careful buying these off eBay, in the past I bought a GPU for a damn good price, but only checked the feedback history of the seller after to find they were selling alot of coins and cards, the card died 2 months later.

I could have been screwed at that point but I contacted the manufacturer via email which ended in them offering to replace it for me free of charge even though I had no reciept, about 5 weeks later they sent me a brand new sealed one after sending them the dead card, it was a factory OC'd version of the card with better cooler which was a real bonus.

Edit: Manufacturer in question was Powercolor which put me into contact with their parent company TUL to actually get the replacement.

I do wish crypto mining would move away from GPUs and to 100% ASICs so …I do wish crypto mining would move away from GPUs and to 100% ASICs so they can stop distorting the supply and demand, the price and the second hand market. Who wants a used mining card with no warranty? Who wants a cheap, lightly used GPU from a guy who has stopped gaming?

Unfortunately, you never know who has 'stopped gaming' and who has 'nearly run the card into the ground'.

sorry! I meant the 1060 6GB not the 1070. You are very right, you won't …sorry! I meant the 1060 6GB not the 1070. You are very right, you won't get a 1070 for this price haha or anything close to it

I personally prefer the NVIDIA offering at this price point, but some people have FreeSync monitors already and some people prefer AMD cards.

If you are card agnostic, take a look at some reviews.

Here's a midlevel AIB for the 1060 6gb:

techpowerup.com/rev…tml

You'll notice that you can plug 16.5% more in OC headroom.

Here's a good AIB for the 580.

techpowerup.com/rev…tml

Both of the reviews use the 'stock cards' as comparison.

You'll notice 580s don't OC very well, 4.4% for this Nitro card.

You'll also notice they had to do some tweaking with bios settings to get a better result over the stock experience.

All in all, the cards are pretty neck and neck, with the 1060 6GB pulling ahead with a higher OC.

But it's not that much difference, it's close enough to recommend either card at the right price. You could make a reasonable argument that the increased power usage of the 580 makes its cost of owernship higher.

You may have some people suggesting that the AMD card 'gets better over time' #finewine etc. Don't be oversold on these claims, as they are often misleading and exaggerated greatly.

Indeed I am, the 6gb version, my mistake. Same question applies though.

They are about the same performance wise. So both about the same value for money. At least until you decide you want a freesync or gsynch monitor.
