Looks like you might not need a vet's prescription for the Advantage Cats spot on treatment either at Waitrose, which saves £15 or so, depending on how much your vet wants for writing one out.

Madonna, try indorex spray, worked wonders.

MadonnaProject

Just called them. £80 for two visits. The next available date is August the 18th. The little nazis are multiplying like well, fleas in the meantime. The local pest control places want to charge £200 quid for it. WTF? That's a lapdance and other favors twice over lol.

reading all the comments is filling me with dread with the inappropriate way in which people are using these veterinary medicines. using these products wrongly is not only potentially dangerous to the pet it is also more likely to speed up resistance to these highly effective active ingredients. It would be fantastic to hear people going to seek proper advice from an animal health adviser found at most reputable pet stores. treating the pet is only part of the problem. treating the home environment is another part which is why many people say the products don't work. fleas can live in the home for many months and so reinfect the pet. yours sincerely a concerned animal health adviser

When we got our kitten, because she was not heavy enough, the vet had to use Frontline on her - however, this was from a spray bottle and she put about 5 lots on her hands and wiped it over our kitten's body - it never worked, the kitten still had fleas on her. When she was heavy enough, the vet used a vial of Advocat on her, and this cleared all of the fleas really quickly. We have been using Effipro on our other cat for several years now and he has always remained flea free. At the moment, I'm using Effipro on the older cat and a 3 month supply of Advocat on the kitten, but will change her's over to Effipro when the Advocat has been used up. Advocat and Effipro both work for us, but due to Effipro being cheaper, will stay with that one.

backinblack666

i have used it for a long time then it just stopped working would treat my dog and she would be coved again next day swapped brands after my vet told me they have removed a few things and made it weaker so it call be sold over the counter in supermarkets etc etc

theshabster

We also use Effipro, but would be interested in using Advantage again if you can indeed use dog pipettes safely on cats.

Frontline still works great for my cat - due to her skin condition she is probe to fleas but doesn't get them as long as she's up to date with her frontline (recently learnt the hard way!) Perhaps effectiveness varies from pet to pet, or area to area?

Frontline has been ineffective for a few years now due to fleas building up immunity, as a previous poster has stated, though it may vary in different areas. My mother has been involved in cat rescue for years and hasn't used Frontline for a while now, as cats treated with it would be left still riddled with fleas...may be OK as a preventive, but not to get rid of the parasites. Once a good product, but sadly it seems not any more.

Nigelhg

You can't buy this in a supermarket. The stuff that supermarkets sell like Bob Martin etc are really just a pesticide and can cause seizures and other problems in cats.

arch68

You're meant to rotate between different flea treatments so a resistance isn't built up. :-) Also this is a cold 'un.

naomihughes80

I used advantage and I think there rubbish, my cats still had flees after months of using them, frontline is best for me.

This is an offer for Fipronil that is close to it's expiry date, but it is an amazing price. If you had more than one dog you could use them all before the expiry date. I have always found this product to work really well - the only time I economised by using Bob Martin my dog got fleas!

Thanks

Kevo2k7

Excellent thanks, only XL dogs left but ordered some syringes too for our small 3 and 1 medium family members! ;)

sicklysweet

The leaflet here:The cat and dog products are the same, just dosed differently. So when it says that the only contraindications with cats is that they can overdose that's because as mentioned above the small dog version (I'm assuming that's what you bought) has .67mls of fipronil as opposed to the cat version which is .5mls of fipronil. As mentioned above either use the syringe method or use your common sense when applying it.

A mate whose a vetinanary nurse said it's ok. Just dose it appropriately.

Good deal. Frontline alone is definitely worth it at this price!

niknak

Just platinumed this a couple of weeks back. Campaign was good and loved the tier 1 trophy which was old school - no aim assist, reload and not allowed to die in each level. Multi player maps were really well laid out but its pretty much pros left playing it and spawn trapping which gets a bit annoying. Had to boost the Fire Control trophy to get it. Well worth the money. Did load up Frontline but boy it hasn't aged well...
