Rebellion, the studio behind the likes of Sniper Elite and Strange Brigade, has acquired the portfolio of renowned British developer The Bitmap Brothers, with an eye to bringing its library of old-school hits to modern platforms. Readers of a certain age will no doubt fondly recall The Bitmap Brothers as one of the leading lights in the early days of the Amiga and Atari ST, although their much-loved games - including Xenon, Speedball, Z, and The Chaos Engine - spread their wings across myriad platforms throughout the late 80s and 90s. According to Rebellion, the acquisition will see The Bitmap Brothers' classic library make the jump to modern platforms (several games, including The Chaos Engine, are already available on PC and iOS), and plans are also afoot to create new games based on the developer's titles.
I first played this on the master system, bought it again on the mega drive even though it was pretty much the same game. I then got it in the PlayStation and it was terrible, slow, clunky but with a better league and customisation options
It was released as speedball 2 hd on steam
And the music to boot
This game isn't the Speedball I played in 1989 on my old C64, but it got us talking about it right? Anyhoo, enjoy THIS free game, which was £2.99, rated 4.2/5 and guess what ma, no ads!! (y)
Its good, but unless they patched it you can make decisions fairly earlyish which make some of the end game super hard if not impossible. Bit annoying! I can't remember the specifics as played on steam initial release, but you can get yourself into a few unwinnable scenarios and there is no "rewind" so its a case of start again It was somewhat fun though
Is this the app where it takes days for anything to happen?(confused)
My favourites were message in a bottle and walking on the moon
A campaign lasts ages, that is if you survive it.....it's brutal but absolutely brilliant. My favourite Indy game of all time. Don't hesitate. It's been ages since I've played it so take this with a pinch of salt but you're easily looking at 20+ hours in a campaign.
How long does the game last? I've started playing FTL and it's really fun 1-2 hours and randomly generated. Is this similar? I'm sure I have this a few times over on humble bundle.. but in my never downloaded pile!
Mark of a truly great game!
A great game but not for everyone. I’ve tried many times but I get a bit down after a few days after playing this
It’s free but tbh not worth it. I downloaded, tried and going to delete it. Not voting cold nor hot cuz maybe someone finds it interesting but certainly not many ppl.
Its nice to see a 'real' freebie for a change, this one is actually free, no in-app purchases makes a refreshing change! Thanks OP - Heat (y)
There’s a Blast from the past, no pun intended lol, this is the game that got me into gaming, after assembling ZX80’s or was it 81, can’t remember now but it was a cracking game that didn’t need to rely on graphics, although graphics weren’t up to much but couldn’t be given the horsepower of the BBC computer (lol)
Me too. Got the guitar plugged in. I can sort of see the next steps but can’t get to them.
Took around 20 minutes to finish it… the interaction with the game is cumbersome(pinching to go back it doesn’t work really well). The graphics is a bit meh… good effort though… and it’s free! Well done Stefanos.
Nup - I've got the last part of the mind game, but the formula doesn't make sense to me. Oh well. Okay, I found my issue - the kings speech mentions 6. Finished it now, thanks Stefanos.
Nice one. I’ve started it. Great if you like a puzzle. I’ve only played for 10 mins but like it. Well done Stefanos.
No longer this price, I night one and it works well, even with Stadio mobile. 💪🏼
Bought one for my cousin to play retro emulators on his phone and tried it out a little before giving it to him. Worked in Dolphin although had to remap the keys manually in the config but was no big deal and it works fine now. Snes9x has an autodetect controller feature which worked instantly and was ready to use without any additional faff. Then tried it with Destiny 2 on Stadia, it worked fine but the back triggers didn't at first. After googling I found out you have to hold both triggers while pressing the star key and it'll change the triggers from analogue to digital which then let's them work correctly. All good after that. This was done out the box and without updating any firmware. Never tried on PC with steam or anything so can't comment on that.
Picked this up at full price a couple of months ago for full price, works as advertised for xcloud and is recognised and works flawlessly with retroarch on Android, can't fault it personally
Can anyone help me ? I bought this a few months ago but just works for Xcloud so I returned this and I bought the sn30 pro ( grey ) instead because it works for more things not just xbox xcloud but the problem now is the mapped buttons for Xbox do not match the original mapping, anyone can let me know how remap this ? Thanks
I've taken a punt on this. Ultimately it will allow me to play games while in a different room which is awesome. If i can use it in other ways thats just a bonus.
Although the update does include a fair number of new puzzles, but the suggestion is not too many! Know what you mean about those huge games! These things can take over your life. :-)
They seem to be complaining about the games (previous, before the update) short length anyway. Which is something I’m personally glad for. I’ve got so many puzzle apps that I’ll never finish because they have 20,000 levels, all practically identical
A low number of feedback that seems in different, but they have updated it since and so looks like it is worth a try. Hell, it’s free anyway so what have you got to lose! Thanks OP. I have added it to 30 games waiting to be played. Just need another pandemic and I’ll have this lot sorted in no time. :-)
