That's a good point, I love chocolate but I agree that Hershey's tastes …That's a good point, I love chocolate but I agree that Hershey's tastes like sick...I suppose I'll find out tomorrow (on a fast day today). I do quite like Hershey's Butter Cups, though - the peanut butter disguises the horrible chocolate.

I remember reading once its partially down to the way the chocolate is made. One of them uses as continuous method so they is a constant "flow" of chocolate out of the mixers, whereas the other makes it in batches of XXX kg at a time that then is used as the next batch made. I don't remember which way around it was (doh),

Although given there are cost restrictions to be met, the choice of cacao bean source ( Cadburys used to be South American whereas Hersheys came from Africa) and the relative amount of sugar and other additives such as milk, fats and so on to hit whatever cost per bar the maker has will affect taste too.

It was an interesting book, mainly about the Mars company, I just wish I knew who I loaned it to as it never came back to me

25p a crumpet are they mad.
LOAD OF RUBBISH UNLESS suffer from coeliac disease.

Gluten free foods contain more fat, salt and sugar than their gluten-containing equivalents, and are generally more than twice has expensive, a study has found.

Researchers at the University of Hertfordshire said it was clear that gluten free (GF) products offer no nutritional advantage to regular foods and are not a healthier alternative, which may surprise many consumers.

They also found that gluten free foods were 159% more expensive than their regular counterparts.

After comparing more than 1,700 food products from Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Ocado, they found that, with the exception of crackers, gluten free foods contained more fat, salt and sugar and also had lower fibre and protein content than their equivalents.

A GF diet is the only treatment option for those who suffer from coeliac disease but many more people in the UK and around the world avoid gluten foods as it is perceived to contribute towards a healthy lifestyle, leading to a huge increase in sales of GF foods in recent years.

But despite this increased interest, there have been limited studies in the nutritional composition of gluten free foods compared with their gluten-containing equivalents, the study authors said.

Researchers found the median total fat contents for GF brown and white bread were more than double those of regular products, while the median cost of GF brown and white bread and white and wholegrain flour was over four times the price of their equivalents.

I went and bought new yeast thinking my yeast must have been off but even with new yeast still made a brick loaf. Tried in Panasonic Bread Maker under the Gluten Free setting another brick so tried on the quick bake and another brick. 6 loaves I have tried to make with this flour and all of them came out like bricks.

My wife suffers from coeliac disease, from her point of view the more …My wife suffers from coeliac disease, from her point of view the more people that opt for a gluten free diet the better as the market for such goods will grow meaning more choice and lower prices.Coeliac disease is a serious medical condition that can cause cancer, a variety of bone conditions and certainly premature death.

Firstly I am sorry to hear that

But it is so true. When I stopped eating meat 25years ago, there were not many choices to eat and the few that were were quite expensive. Fast forward 25years and the choices are so much more and so much cheaper because loads opt for it now. And loads of people have an opinion on something before they even try it but they may like or even prefer it if they actually do

These products are most likely free from other several common allergens but no mention of those, even those mentioned by Asda! As it happens the Pakeeza one is marked "This product is produced in a factory where no nuts are handled" but the others aren't and the OP has made no mention! If we are going to have stuff posted because of its suitability or unsuitability for particular groups, then fair enough if it is a product specifically sold for those specific properties, but these are just mainstream products. As it happens I could post half a dozen other yogurt products similarly gluten free and far cheaper than this particularly expensive brand, but what the Pakeeza one is doing here is another thing, it is cheap and probably the nastiest yoghurt on the market, and in any case is always this price, or at least it was last time I saw it in Asda.If you want cheaper gluten free yogurts, then they are here in Aldi, 13 products are listed: https://cdn.aldi-digital.co.uk/sjhZhu2jhbmWzvVTn7T4Yp4Q45M.pdf

To clarify, your original statement seemed in disbelief that a natural yoghurt wouldn't be gluten free by default, and I was trying to point out that trace amounts of gluten would affect coeliacs.

I'm not a mod or experienced deal poster so I'm not going to pretend I'm up to speed on what info OP strictly should/shouldn't include with their deal.

guilty till proven innocent right.......many flavourings are not gluten free and many people on GF diets are doing so for genuine medical reasons not just because they are hipsters.

You feel the need to have a go at someone, have a go at manufacturers who fail to mention in equally large writing (to the GF notice) that these packs are considerably smaller than normal retail ones.
