Fine when they just start to get that oinkish hue but I once let a couple of them get to the stage of black mould and there's no way back! Still works well but I really don't think they're anything special at the price.

Ha, it isn't the 1st time this has been up I think the 2 meter one I have has had a couple of deals up but way back as mines 5 years old. It's one of those things where people read it and jump on the chance of not having a hose that's going to get black bacterial crap hiding in it within a few months and eventually fall to bits. I do like the swivel connector as well. I find where mine connects to the water feed it you fasten it so it sits against the wall it helps keep it out the way so mine sits nice and flat to the wall, opposite to you but ours heads to the riser rail so it's nice to not keep catching it

Youre right, once filled with water, after a few weeks it loses its coiled “memory” and starts to sit more like the metal hose.

In our case it’s used for the hand shower which sits between the wall and the main mixer unit. So I guess we have a couple of close points of reference. I’ve also compare to the other showers which still have a metal hose. And can see the loop is a bit wider.

Still highly recommended over a metal hose. But I stuck to the length I needed, as I fear going longer it may spread a little wider and touch the wall or overlap the mixer controls

These are very reliable and good quality units. I fit these in my hotel! Heat added!
We have 1 in each of our 2 bathrooms fed by a combi boiler. The first is in use for about 16 years and the other about 6 or 7 years. They have been faultless, and the thermostatic water temperature control, with its overrideable safety stop, has never let us down. I can't remember what I paid but it will have been a lot more than £89.

So can I just take the hot and cold feed from the taps and run pipes to the shower or do I have to dig into the wall/retile etc...Sorry. But I'm clueless on all this... I just want to fit a shower above the bath...

You'd need to either trench into the wall, drill through or build a false wall for the pipes to go behind.

You may be better just getting a 10kw electric power shower, obviously it'll need both water and electricity connecting to It, but it's less messing around than a thermostatic shower (depending on where your mains box is is in relation to your shower).

Which bits do you want in copper? Your pipes will usually be copper but you don't want to see them. The body of the mixer will be chromed brass. Do you mean you don't want chrome effect plastic knobs? In my experience they can be good (our Bathstore ones still look like new after 7 years). You shouldn't be using abrasives on chrome whatever the base material as it will soon rub through.

Exposed copper, if they exist, would turn green (oxides of copper) unless you want to polish then every day or two!

The units are made by redring and they kinda suck they frequently leak from the o ring in the internal filter and when a small ammount of limescale get in the gap around the power button it constantly gets stuck. I bought a similar Grohe one last Xmas from Amazon for £100, just be careful as the pipes where in the sam position on my old shower BUT, I didn't realise it was a gravity fed shower and the Grohe wasn't so it came out at a drip feed.
It cost me for a shower pump, an electrican to fit a socket for said pump then a plumber for new pipe routing.....so a £100 shower cost me about £500 in the end.

Yeah, and probably a lot of mess depending on how the cable has been run.

It's really just a recommendation for people installing a new cable - absolutely go for the larger ones and it'll save so much hassle later on.

I ran the cable myself, but got a sparky in to connect and certify it. It'll cut costs down dramatically.

If that £200 included the cable, running of it, installation and a new fuse, and certification that's a good price!
