Some good prices there. Couldn't find any bargains I could not resit. So probably better to save your money until winter sales kick in properly.
At least that's how I trick myself into not buying more cycling stuff.

Pretty much same prices as Wiggle.

yeah on somethings similiar prices but certain items are really cheap

XT m8000 brakes £135 versus £160 wiggle
XT m8000 double crank £88 (now sold out) versus £129 wiggle
XT single with 32T CR £99 versus £96 but no Chainring worth £25 Wiggle

Shimano Ultegra FC-R8000 Chainset £191 versus £249 wiggle

as always shop around, never buy a deal until you google usual sources.

I'd actually got the SLX M7000 crankarm yesterday on chain reaction for £60 less £10 clearance discount as got some sealskinz socks for £22, but got the XT crank as its a good deal once i sell on the 32T chainring

Shifters: Ultegra 6800 11 Speed STI (Front & Rear) With Inner Cables

No need for new inners, and you can reuse outers if they're in good condition.
Not so well with flat bars unless you have trigger shifters, the brake levers are usually made for drop bars.

Some groups used to have an option for different levers and gear shifters but I don't see it here.

Q.Should I upgrade my CAAD10 20spd and sell the old 6700? I have compatible Mavic wheel sets.
I guess the parts wouldn't work in Hybrids?

If you want a couple more days to think about it put a price match request in with Wiggle, when it comes back (mine took 24 hours) you will have 72 hours to use your price match code. It will also mean you can use Wiggle's 3% quidco instead of Merlins 2% (£8.46 vs £12.69). In the end I went for ordering with Merlin as I didn't want to risk them going out of stock while I waited for Wiggle's price match.

If you have the cycle to work scheme, another good way to build up up an Ultegra Bike to your own spec, with whatever frame you want, is to Buy the Sportive racing Ultegra Special Edition from Ribble. £999. upgrade it to carbon post and Aksium wheels which works out at £1059. This works out at £576 via Cycle to Work scheme. You can then sell that frame for £300 on eBay (they go for that money), and add whatever frame you want. In this way you could build up (for example), a £650 Bowman Palace frame for £950. because the Ribble comes with nice wheels, ITM bars, Deda finishing kit and a decent saddle. Otherwise it would cost you approx £1500 quid to do, because you would need to buy all the finishing kit and wheels. and saddle separately.
My bike has the 6800 groupset and I love it!

The only thing I'd say it's that my mate has the 5800 and there's next to no noticeable difference at all!

If you're looking to save money it may be worth looking at that. £269 at Merlin.

6800 is expensive to replace when parts need changing (chain rings etc), and you can use 5800 but if you're going to do that, you may as well go with 105 anyway.
I have this groupset and it's fantastic.

Refreshing my old kit on my commuter (2009 Tricross Sport), will have surplus:

-Unused 105 calipers, they won't fit on my bike (cyclo) as it uses canti.
-Used, FSA SL-K carbon crankset 39/53.
-Used, FSA MegaExo BB.
-Used, Shimano Sora shifters/levers.
-Used, Shimano Sora front derailleur.
-Used, Shimano 105 rear derailleur.
-Used, Specialized BG Comp saddle.

Happy to get rid of any of the above before my wife see's them in the shed :o)

Cheers, James

I will never use pbk again, I ordered this groupset when they said it was in stock, email confirming such, also stating I wouldn't be charged until dispatch.

Few days later I get charged for the item but no dispatch, email chasing twice, both times told it would be dispatched within a week.

Three weeks later, order is cancelled without warning, calls to the company was met with abrupt staff.

Without a doubt, one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with.

Exactly the same here - to a T. It was only after I had got RM involved and about a month later that they suddenly part refunded me. No apology, no explanation.

Had the same problem with their "get the label" shop on Ebay and The Hut direct. Very quick to take your money for products they know aren't even in stock. VERY slow to refund you....

THE worst online retailer I have ever dealt with bar none.

Like I said it's a good price so if you really have a problem using PBK get wiggle/evans/crc/cycle surgery or whoever your preferred vendor is and get them to price match. Simple.

The link goes to a mobile site. When I got to the right place the price is £425.69.

5000 feedback on Ebay would be considered a start up - naturally PBK aren't on there. If they were they would be closed down due to so many negatives.

NO phone number - as is the way of THE HUT group.

Maybe I am in the minority and PBK and THE HUT are excellent - or maybe I am right.

Please tell me how they can be selling for LESS than direct from the country this stuff is made in - Taiwan?

LOL - makes no sense

It took me a few months to find a 2ndhand Specialized hardrock for C£100, but they do come up now and again. Otherwise some of the Halfords Carreras on special offer are pretty good.As for sizing you probably want a 15-17" frame on a mountain bike. I have a 17" frame on a Specialized Hardrock and I'm 5' 10" (although the seat post is up as far as it will go). I have a 20" frame on my hybrid and 56cm on my road bike.

If you're 5 foot 10, then a 17" frame on a mountain bike should be a bit too small, does depend on inside leg measurements though. An 18" frame sounds about right though for someone 5 foot 10.

I found a carrera Kraken (pictured below so that people in the know could tell me which year and version it is) at £70, though it has got a missing pedal, handlebar and a broken spoke at behind the wheel. I quite like it as the original price of Krakens are about 400-500 pounds, though I am not sure what version of Kraken is this one. It has 3 previous owners too, that is what worries me as it pretty much indicates the age and the condition of the bike.Apart from the Kraken, I also found used Specialized Sirrus at around £150 and TREK FX 7.0-7.2 at around £150 as well. Just wondering which of the 3 is my best bet? Would it be better to buy the Carrera Kraken at £70 and take it to a bike shop to change the 3 faults (which maybe cost below £100).I urgently need advice.. thanksCarrera Kraken

What do you want to use the bike for? Sirrus is a hybrid whereas Kraken is a MTB.
Also if you buy 2nd hand make sure it's legit and not a nicked bike. I would definitely get the Sirrus over the Kraken when it comes down to it. Just got myself a Sirrus Comp, can't wait to ride it.

Wouldn't trust any bike from Sportsdirect to be honest, nor Asda. Halfords actually have some really decent bikes (Carrera and Boardman.etc), so you might wanna look at them. I could sell you a Carrea Subway LTD edition if you wanted :-P

EDIT: Just noticed you bought a Trek.. good move!

This should work with any 68mm x 108 to 113 (approx) mm english threaded bottom bracket.

The gearing is very much race oriented and not really suited for mountain bike.
