IMPORTANT I would urge anyone who has bought this seat to read the manual VERY CAREFULLY. This seat can ONLY be fitted with an automatic locking retractor seatbelt (which are what American cars have). Very few cars in the uk have ALR seatbelts, those that may have them are usually the Japanese makes like Honda and Toyota. Our seatbelts are generally the emergency locking retractor type, which don’t lock until you are in a collision and which run freely until you give the seatbelt a sharp tug which will lock it. See page 17 of the manual harmonyjuvenile.com/media/wysiwyg/Instruction_Manuals/UK/Merydian.pdf The individual instructions for fitting the seat rear facing and also forward facing have instructions on how to engage the automatic lock on the seatbelt after you have finished installing the seat, which in most European cars you won’t be able to do.

There is no legal age restriction on weight-based child seats, a baby could use this seat forward facing as soon as they weigh 9kg no matter how young they are. That’s why the latest regulations have brought in an age restriction on forward facing of a minimum of 15 months. However this ONLY applies if your baby is in a new seat which has been certified under the new R129 I-Size regulation. Even so, at 15 months a rear facing seat is still a lot safer than a forward facing one. I’m following the Swedish way of doing things with my child, she’s still rear facing aged 5 (and is petite so she’ll stay in her rear facing seat until she’s at least 8 years old) and then she’ll move to a high backed booster, skipping the forward facing harnessed seats altogether.

Rivermouth

I can't see any independent safety reviews of this car seat, so I'm struggling to agree that it is very highly rated. I would always go for one that does have those assessments, as there is a lot of variation in how safe these seats actually are. There have been other deals on this site for seats that have serious weaknesses in them.

Bought this and struggled a wee bit to get it fully working....but the service form Logitech has been nothing but brilliant.

julianferdinand

I've been shopping around for about 10 years, everytime I see one for the price I'm willing to pay they have gone! I got this knowing that at full price I would be unhappy. I'm pleased with my purchase it has replaced 4 of the 5 controllers I use (struggles with apple TV full stop.) its not as simple as you would like it to be! I still struggle with the activities but the Devices work fine... I use it on the iPhone app and that works superbly! Theres no fighting over the control as the mrs uses her phone too. So its thumbs up from me, but just at £60

jamesdew

Yay nabbed one in Swansea, thanks op!

Bendown

Well not impressed that you cant have a device on the remote, only activities. The smartphone app is ok when used with the hub, Tried using google home to turn tv on etc, lets face it, it is a gimmick. By the time you have asked Alex/Google to put tv on you could have just pressed a button on remote. Can I live without it, yes. It is worth around 50/60 quid to me, certainly not the original price of £120

rbramhill1

Well some folks would just see it as basic manners to read through a thread before posting what has already been noted (especially one less than two pages long) - I find THAT completely unnecessary and odd and that's why I thought I would point it out to you. I've already attempted to explain to you how these threads work - your reply is now buried in the middle of this page, so if anyone wanted to come across it they would have to read through the thread, just as I did to find the info originally. What if everyone had your can't be bothered attitude? The thread would be filled with people saying the same thing over and over again... And I'm not sure you can class two replies before this one as "consistent belittling".

sparklehedgehog

Ok I find your consistent belittling scary. All I tried to do was potentially help somebody without reading through an entire thread with a snippet of information I gave that may have helped just one person (and that would’ve been all I wanted) but you have to give me hassle over it. Completely unnecessary and odd

meherenow

Er, except that of course they WOULD have to read through to get to your post... Jeezo, internet etiquette is long dead isn't it!?

sparklehedgehog

Or by posting it it didn’t hurt and helped anybody else potentially that also didn’t wanna read through it all so yes I am thank you

pedr0barbosa

I got my remote from this deal yesterday. Had some issues with my android tv box but I managed to fix them. It's absolutely perfect, replaced 5 remotes with this one. Note: if you can't see "Activities" on IFTTT (Activities dropdowlist only shows "Loading..."), it's because you probably used your google+/facebook login when connecting IFTTT with Harmony. If you use the normal Harmony username/password to connect IFTTT to your Harmony account that won't happen (it will work normally)

Rich383838

I didn't use the USB - Just set it up with the iphone app - it was a 'follow the on screen prompts' kind of set up.

wetbandit

I uninstalled the software and started again. Still didn’t work. I was using the usb cable that came with it as well.

I spent a good couple of hours messing years back to get my first harmony setup, since then it's become second nature though, & my kids & wife have never even seen more than one remote in my house. The alexa voice commands are great now they've given us the US skill, finally! The youngest kids being able to say alexa turn on Disney junior/boomerang etc instead of putting their grubby mits on my Elite is a bonus!

greencode

Finally got there. Got everything hooked up and the other 6 remotes banished to the drawer. A little tricky to tweak things when it’s not quite right as I found I had to use a mix of the desktop app and mobile app to get it right. Will have a proper play over the coming days to see what it’s like but first impressions are good.

greencode

No what it is is that when you are on another HDMI channel and then when you want to go back to watch TV it won’t change to DVB. I’ve had to add another action to Press TV

got to say having battled with Alexa to get this working, google home has been a breeze. May well swap my dots for homes...

zhris

Very nice, still worth it at £100 in my view, its used alot. I haven't setup with Alexa, but Google was a breeze. However I actually never touch the physical remote, and rarely use the app now, I built my own app using Tasker on Android. Since I can process any voice command I want, it's more powerful. For example I have integrated a TV guide web service, can say "watch programme the chase", it will check if it's on now or soon, then change to the most suitable channel. If you are looking to go a step further, definitely check out Tasker and it's Harmony plugin

coalfield

wow that really is an amazing deal. I bought at £100 got it yesterday and I have to say its way better than the other harmony I have used. Can all be set with the phone app and picked up nearly all my devices just from the wifi. Had to disable CEC control to get it working properly, but now just to figure out how to get it working with Alexa as its been very hit and miss so far with that

rcom

Fine, I'm wrong, lying or mistaken, whatever you want to choose. It's not my intention to purposely mislead people. Anyway, people should be more interested in the much cheaper price it's been since then, and that is verifiable.

gjc5111

Thanks v. Much for the explanation - I'm sure I've got a lot of experimenting to take place in the coming weeks lol!

LiTtLE_DeE

The main differences I found was the ability to add routines to your automation but saying that, the latest update in Alexa now has a basic routines feature. Alexa is only able to access a single Logitech hub; this deficiency can be overcome by using Yonomi. With Yonomi you are able to access multiple hubs with Alexa which is useful when you have a multi-room setup. Yonomi is also compatible with devices that Alexa natively is not. For example, Sonos just recently released a Alexa skill for their Speaker range but I've been using Alexa/Yomoni/Harmony hub combo to control my Sonos 5.1 speakers ever since I bought the speaker system last year.

gjc5111

Can I please ask what is the difference between using the yonomi app to link logitech harmony with the dot, compared to using the Amazon echo dot app on its own? I think I'm getting the echo and logitech harmony remote with hub for Xmas and just want to get my head around how it works!! Thanks v. much

I guess i can see your point but remember you can use your smart phone app for free plus you can actually pre-set the number of your incremental volume increases/decreases or Say "Alexa increase volume by 4". You don't actually have to keep repeating the command, you can just tell the Echo whatever number of increments you want & that's what it will increase the volume by in one command. Trust me, once you start to use it regularly, you soon get to know what volume 4 or volume 7, 8,9, sounds like then it becomes so natural, you'll wonder why you haven't always done things this way.

LiTtLE_DeE

No I had no idea, I stopped using Plex for anything other than accessing my own personal Music Library. When the "Unsupported app store" stopped working awhile back, I made the switch to Kodi. I wouldn't have a clue where to start with Plex now.

crabby09

Just as an FYI... Sequences has just been released on amazon's echo devices, though they're currently a little basic. And harmony actions can be controlled directly now, so you can say "Alexa, pause" I believe to pause activities. Luckily I use an amp with predefined scenes that adjust volumes etc to my liking automatically... but to be honest, the volume command through Alexa increases my setup in jumps of 3db, so I'm pretty happy. Agreed, though, whilst it is a neat trick I still prefer the simplicity and discretion of a remote.

crabby09

Love that you can choose channels with Alexa... just waiting (hoping?) Netflix and prime video get integrated at some point... Don't know if you're aware but you can already ask Plex to play the next show in a season or a film by name?

LiTtLE_DeE

Well in my case it's an absolute God send to be able to do those things as I'm severely physically disabled electric wheelchair user, suffering from partial paralysis of my Body. That's the main reason why I started down the home automation path... it's given me so much freedom & independence. Nope, smart home is just like the original Alexa, sees the hub over wifi, hub then talks to lights. You could get wifi bulbs instead which tend to be much cheaper, the site favourite Yeelights being a prime example. Then get Home Assistant set up and control absolutely everything from it, no more phone full of crappy apps, block them all from phoning home every second of the day and it's then easy to make the lot interact and you actually can then have a genuinely smart home.

stainless77

Can this control Hue bulbs on its own (or through SmartThing) without Hue Hub? I want to keep the number of hubs to a minimum and currently have SmartThing and Nest. Looking to buy Hue Hub but this seems to be a much better option.
