Heat, I'd been waiting for it to drop, cheapest I've seen it. I have an old Harmony One that's been going strong for 7 or 8 years, just got into the Hue system though so thought it'd be nice to have an update which can also control them and work with Alexa etc.

I recall a colleague having on of these type of remotes a good few years back. What purpose does the hub unit serve? Cant I just get a remote and use that to replace my numerous remotes for TV, sky, AV receiver etc? Or does the hub in fact negate the need for say a hub such as the hue hub?

That last bit is so me! Glad I’m not the only one.

Thanks crabby. I don’t mind spending the cash, but if it’s just foran improved layout, I’m not really feeling it.

Not many changes to the features... But a much better experience overall - mainly improved button layout.

Whats the ultimate?

This is essentially a universal remote, you select the activity eg watch Sky, it will change the inputs turn on your sky box etc, you can also control lights, heating, anything that uses wireless/BT/IR controls.

If you just want to control your TV through Alexa/Google home try a "Broadlink Black Bean" for a fraction of the price Banggood or Amazon I use mine all the time on the TV but wouldn't need it to control anything else as Alexa already does that.

Bought the Ultimate for a fraction more

A harmony remote will replace most, if not all, of your existing remotes.

Just having a slight issue with Apple TV, the remote won’t turn the volume up/down on my amp when using the Apple TV. Anyone else had this? Works fine on everything else

Just got mine and setting it up...can’t believe I didn’t buy one sooner!!

I do for spelling out search terms on Sky. It can still be done on the Elite, was just easier on an 885 etc.

How many favourite channels can fit on one screen? Less than my fingers can access on the keypad, I know all the numbers do don't use the guide etc.

Had this one ages ago and between the shape of it, button placement and having to remember to charge it all the time i wasn't a fan. Ended up buying the companion remote instead which I prefer, and is cheaper.

no worries! Hope you enjoy it!

I'd say the Elite, but you should have bought it when it was £129.00, but since its up to £169, I'd go for this at this price

This or harmony one ultimate or elite

Ordered via quidco, for 5%. then used code or £5 off. Good timing, my 650 has started to play up.

I received mine yesterday and I am very happy with it. Set up was very easy although I had to manually set up the controls for my Panasonic amp which only took around 5 minutes. My only negative about the remote is that the activity buttons don't light up at the top of the control, at first I thought that it may have been faulty but from reading other reviews this seems like a poor design not to have these buttons lit.

This is now back down to £89 on Amazon. I was going to post the deal, then noticed this one from August is still active. I don't know why this is so cold; this is a fantastic deal on a very good product. I have had this for over 2 years, and cannot imagine using 6 remotes instead. If the Elite was this price, then yes, get that, as the button layout is better. The only issue I have had was regarding the battery, but this simply required a cleaning of the contacts. Without placing this on the charging cradle, it lasts a good 3 days for me.

This looks really useful. I've picked one up! Thanks! My remote is nearly on the brink, so I wouldn't mind having something like this. I tried the broadlink earlier this month, and although it's a lot cheaper, it simply wouldn't work at all.

Yep. Ditto mate. Mine has just turned into something to collect more dust!

This product is toilet. I have it, worth about £50 tops

functionality very similar but layout of remote different. I had this question a month ago at a Prime day when I ended up buying the Ultimate at this price. After a month I can say this is my product of the year. Works very well even with Echo. Give yourself half a day to set up if you have 5/6/7 units with remotes. I dont recommend much but this is V V good.

I can't comment on the Harmony, but I've got an RM Pro and RM mini 3 and both are working with alexa. Little fiddly as you have to play around with them to get everything working (set up all devices as TV or lamps) but happy with them considering the price

Quite. Useful if you live in the US only.

Looks like the crippled UK Alexa still can't do it. reddit.com/r/amazonecho/comments/6nu8ww/rm_mini_3_now_compatible_with_alexa/

Hi badgerman, do you have Alexa working with the free version of PLEX, and is Alexa on your Echo / Dot / Stick or elsewhere and does it matter which Alexa? Did you work it out the setup from the Harmony website or from 3rd party? Cheers in advance. I've bought this deal, but if all Alex, Plex and your IOT are all on your home wifi, do you even need the Harmony for this part?

I found setting this up from a PC / fast laptop seemed to be much easier than from the Android App, which seemed to be cut down. Still not working 100%, but I think that's more my set up, than the product.

Great price for non prime day or black friday.

It's been cheaper, but saying it's cheaper on prime day is kinda silly... Is one day a year deal how we measure deals now? Hot, but not for me. Thanks for posting

If it means anything I actually think this is a good deal! Not sure why it is cold.

You posted 2 different prices both of which being lower than this deal and stating that because of the prices you posted this is a good deal. There can only be one lowest price. As said there isn’t a question, it was a confused emoji because it makes no sense as to why you would think something more expensive than your two prices would be a good deal. So there is the explanation you are obviously grasping for. I’ll assume English isn’t your first language and leave it here. Cya (y)

You cant assign the Harmony itself to a Group (or Room), but you can set up Activities within the Harmony which get detected as Scenes in the Alexa app. The Scenes can be assigned to a Group. I have set up the Harmony in the living room and it has an Activity called TV. I have assigned this to the Living Room group as a scene along with the lamps, so when i say turn on the living room, it knows to turn on the lamps in the living room plus the tv (including the sky box and surround sound). Hope that helps

I have one in living room, and I have multiple dots...if I put this in the bedroom, I'm guessing I'll have to call the TV there something different...I know the dots can turn on the lights in the associated room, but I don't think you can group the harmony to a room, can you?

You might be right, I'm not sure how much I would miss not having a shield anyway, don't use Kodi much nowadays and could always just install it on the Xbox. Come to think of it I can't think of any good reason to have the shield without the voice control I was so keen on setting up

The hub is essentially an oversized IR blaster with a few extra connectivity options. If your wife struggles with the Touch, then she'll struggle with all of the harmony remote+hub combinations. It might be time to buy that chromecast....

Hadn't heard of RTI before but really do trust my C4 installer! I just hope they update the hardware soon and add a little more customisation for those who want it (with an undo button)! It's going to be interesting to see how the technology matures with Alexa and Google home now entering the market!

The much more ergonomic design alone. This is one of the silliest button layouts

The challenge I find with 'IR remotes' for want of a better term is the lack of 2-way feedback and that's the downfall of all these remotes if the macros get out of sync with the devices. So i'd always recommend C4, RTI or something that has not only IR but IR+Serial RS232+IP and 2-way feedback if I was to recommend anything. Horses for courses and budgets of course and therefore entry level control I'm in no way knocking Logitech Harmony devices

Agree. I guess I am a pro user of technology so that's why C4 is probably missing the mark for me. For those with lots of money and who want tech to work simply, it does hit the mark. Out of interest what alternatives do you recommend for alternatives to C4 elite or this remote?

Sorry, in my ignorance does this require 2 power sockets? One for the charging base and one for the hub?

These are basically from people who can’t work out or won’t spend the time to set it up properly. It can be frustrating at first but once you are use to the product and software it’s fantastic. I’ve had harmony’s for around 10 years now. And this is my current model with the hub and its great with amazing echo as well as just using the remote in its own. I have a review on Amazon if me turning things on and off with Alexa etc.

Quite shocking that this doesn't have the hub with it at that price. I have a lot of home AV and smart equipment I wouldn't say I love this remote. It's good but hasn't replaced all my other remotes as I would have liked too. The touch screen is a bit annoying and quite frustrating using with one hand. Button placement could be better and I think I'd probably prefer to use a non touch screen version or one with a better touchscreen/layout on screen. I only use it to control my Nvidia shield. For all else including TV sky q and AV receiver I use the native remotes.

I managed to get the non lcd with hub for half price at maplin. I spent an hour trying to configure it, got frustrated and it’s sat gathering dust now. I couldn’t link to the smart devices because the integrations were borked. I’m a software developer, so know it’s not me!

I'd agree by saying it's not even worth £180, not even £70 - I'd more say £50 which is what I paid for it. I find mine comes in really handy, especially for obscure devices. I recently bought a Denon DCD-800 that sadly had no remote. Charged up my Harmony, added the profile and away I went. There are some flaws and user experience bugs but apart from that I've yet to have a major issue with the remote.

I used to have this remote. The most frustrating thing for me was the positioning of the fast forward / rewind / pause buttons above the touchscreen - I found it difficult to use those without activating the touchscreen. I also had the Harmony Companion Remote (with a hub) - although not quite as versatile I found it to be great & much more user friendly. Moved on to the Elite remote (with a hub) about 12 months ago........most excellent.

Waiting for a deal to come back around on this but a question for those with the remote. I use an amplifier for my tv audio, can the volume controls be set to always control the amp. My current zgemma sat box doesn't allow this which is why I want a universal remote.

Bought this and struggled a wee bit to get it fully working....but the service form Logitech has been nothing but brilliant.

I've been shopping around for about 10 years, everytime I see one for the price I'm willing to pay they have gone! I got this knowing that at full price I would be unhappy. I'm pleased with my purchase it has replaced 4 of the 5 controllers I use (struggles with apple TV full stop.) its not as simple as you would like it to be! I still struggle with the activities but the Devices work fine... I use it on the iPhone app and that works superbly! Theres no fighting over the control as the mrs uses her phone too. So its thumbs up from me, but just at £60

Yay nabbed one in Swansea, thanks op!

Well not impressed that you cant have a device on the remote, only activities. The smartphone app is ok when used with the hub, Tried using google home to turn tv on etc, lets face it, it is a gimmick. By the time you have asked Alex/Google to put tv on you could have just pressed a button on remote. Can I live without it, yes. It is worth around 50/60 quid to me, certainly not the original price of £120

Well some folks would just see it as basic manners to read through a thread before posting what has already been noted (especially one less than two pages long) - I find THAT completely unnecessary and odd and that's why I thought I would point it out to you. I've already attempted to explain to you how these threads work - your reply is now buried in the middle of this page, so if anyone wanted to come across it they would have to read through the thread, just as I did to find the info originally. What if everyone had your can't be bothered attitude? The thread would be filled with people saying the same thing over and over again... And I'm not sure you can class two replies before this one as "consistent belittling".

Ok I find your consistent belittling scary. All I tried to do was potentially help somebody without reading through an entire thread with a snippet of information I gave that may have helped just one person (and that would’ve been all I wanted) but you have to give me hassle over it. Completely unnecessary and odd

Er, except that of course they WOULD have to read through to get to your post... Jeezo, internet etiquette is long dead isn't it!?

Or by posting it it didn’t hurt and helped anybody else potentially that also didn’t wanna read through it all so yes I am thank you
