Oh wow and it still has the working post bag collection thingy. Happy memories :D
This is the night mail crossing the Border, Bringing the cheque and the postal order, Letters for the rich, letters for the poor, The shop at the corner, the girl next door. Pulling up Beattock, a steady climb: The gradient's against her, but she's on time. Past cotton-grass and moorland boulder Shovelling white steam over her shoulder, Snorting noisily as she passes Silent miles of wind-bent grasses. Birds turn their heads as she approaches, Stare from bushes at her blank-faced coaches. Sheep-dogs cannot turn her course; They slumber on with paws across. In the farm she passes no one wakes, But a jug in a bedroom gently shakes. Dawn freshens, Her climb is done. Down towards Glasgow she descends, Towards the steam tugs yelping down a glade of cranes Towards the fields of apparatus, the furnaces Set on the dark plain like gigantic chessmen. All Scotland waits for her: In dark glens, beside pale-green lochs Men long for news. Letters of thanks, letters from banks, Letters of joy from girl and boy, Receipted bills and invitations To inspect new stock or to visit relations, And applications for situations, And timid lovers' declarations, And gossip, gossip from all the nations, News circumstantial, news financial, Letters with holiday snaps to enlarge in, Letters with faces scrawled on the margin, Letters from uncles, cousins, and aunts, Letters to Scotland from the South of France, Letters of condolence to Highlands and Lowlands Written on paper of every hue, The pink, the violet, the white and the blue, The chatty, the catty, the boring, the adoring, The cold and official and the heart's outpouring, Clever, stupid, short and long, The typed and the printed and the spelt all wrong. Thousands are still asleep, Dreaming of terrifying monsters Or of friendly tea beside the band in Cranston's or Crawford's: Asleep in working Glasgow, asleep in well-set Edinburgh, Asleep in granite Aberdeen, They continue their dreams, But shall wake soon and hope for letters, And none will hear the postman's knock Without a quickening of the heart, For who can bear to feel himself forgotten?
I wasn’t born when that happened ;) so technically ever seen 😄

A good deal and a nice train set. An equally good deal would be the Hornby Christmas Coca Cola train set from Smyths which is still available in a limited number of their stores for £49.99. The loco is also of a higher quality being of a metal construction together with a decent controller. Enjoy the Santa Special.
Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.
Its been cheaper - but they are also advertising FREE EXPRESS 24HR shipping on all orders over £45....
out of stock
yeah agreed. You can pickup for £47.50 with another site, but 5 working days delivery could mean it wont arrive in time for xmas.

Coca Cola Hornby Train set Down to £49.99 @ Smyths Toys£49.99 Free P&P FreeSmyths Toys Deals
Dropped another £10 plus free shipping. You don't see many Hornby sets less than £50 these days.
I would imagine a lot of Xmas themed train sets get purchased before Xmas then sold as unwanted after. Best keep an eye on eBay
I’m not, particularly. My son had a great love for trains and whilst I didn’t necessarily share his interest, I certainly encouraged his passion and enthusiasm so spent a number of years visiting steam railways, train museums and model railway exhibitions, as well as buying Hornby train sets. That being said there’s no limits to what someone can enjoy due to their appearance :)
I haven't and I've been trying to keep an eye on the price of them as I've been after one for a while.
Don’t judge a book by its cover! (embarrassed)
Not judging or anything. But you don't seem like someone who would be into toy train sets. Lol.

Nothing wrong with being old... we are lucky if it happens to us.
Why does this make you feel better? Do you think you are better than an old person (which I’m not btw)? It’s pathetic and racism, called ageism. Think you’re better than someone because of age? How pathetic. Jog on, jog jog jog. You don’t have any intelligence. You don’t understand plastic thermal dynamics and pollution. I’m done wasting my time with a mini mind
So recycle it plum
Grandpa you keep imagining things. I didn't write about paper lined with plastic to form bottles. I was talking about an innovative paper only material. Take your pills grandpa so you don't become a grumpy gammon resistant to personal or corporate responsibility for pollution and resistant to the need for massive change. The planet is dying. Thanks grandpa for killing my planet.
I thought the official price for this was only £49.99, although it seems to have crept up a bit to around £55 at most places. These guys have it for £49.99 if you're nowhere near this store, but I expect many local model shops have similar pricing
Gets a vote for supporting a local store.

Hornby Santa's Express Train Set is £43.99 Delivered with Code @ IWOOT£43.99£54.9920% offIWOOT Deals
I bought this a couple of years ago. Built it under the Xmas tree looked beautiful. Had it turning on atthe same time a Xmas tree. But sadly it worn out. I took it back to the shop and got money back. It looks fantastic. But it’s not up to being on for 6 hours a day continuous during the Xmas period. Yes I’d get it again start of season and take it back if it’s not fit for purpose. Voted hot.
Bought this a few years ago from Agros it’s not really worth the price tag. Track is a pain to put to together and keeping coming apart.
Thanks! 🌞 (y)

True, i picked up 4 sets from Asda for £20 each for my son last year just for the extra track. Opened one set and then found out he's not really into train sets ;(
Asda had the similar Freightmaster set for £20 this time last year. Hobbycraft had the Santa sets for £25 before Christmas. £80 seems very expensive for effectively the same set plus one extra wagon and a few scenic pieces.
What do you call a train full of toffee? A chew chew train!
I choo choo choose you
They've also got the Intercity Express for £79.99 which has the starter oval and track pack a (ie. Points and a siding) https://www.aldi.co.uk/hornby-intercity-express-train-set/p/700103424284601 Personlly I'd go for that one, but fully appreciate some may want the little steamie over a modern abomination. Not an issue, I'm just jealous you have more heat than me! Thanks for posting, it's not clear that the other post includes this item, so worth a post to highlight this specific item (y) heat added, of course.
I searched before posting and there was no mention of this item on HUKD. Wasn't in the 'all prime deals' list, either.
