No but it is HTC so what did you expect! :D

UZOR

I stand corrected. Hard to remember all those catchy distinct names. Still, my point stands, a perfectly capable but distinctly last gen 28nm fab. Not exactly a deal in spec terms

Luckyfrog

Not bad, could have been really hot if they had UK stock!

GAVINLEWISHUKD

No RN3 has hexa-core SD650. This has Octa-core 4xA72+4xA53.

UZOR

Soc on this is same as redmi note 3 so a bit dated now though can't fault the performance

I think you may have answered your own question there with your If

galactus2013

Partly why many feel like HTC weren't allowed to release the U11+ in America as part of their deal, it is basically a Pixel 2 XL at a much lower price. There are still some caveats though. If you are a fiend for security updates or you like to use custom ROMs then the Pixel 2 still takes the lead here. The warranty experience with HTC is absolutely abysmal and Google definitely has a leg up here, HTC take at least 3-4 weeks to fix any issues whilst Google will simply send you a new phone Besides that you can't go wrong with either phone. Like I mentioned before though, it is a gamble on the screen with the U11+ and I'd say the same thing regarding buying an imported Pixel 2 XL. If you get a good screen though then this is a beautiful deal.

MrSwitch

So you can buy the u11 plus on ebay with virtually the same camera, virtually the same software, a bigger screen, better audio and basically stock android for £460 or the pixel 2 (not XL) for £50 more... Erm... I know which one I'd choose, that's if you don't mind buying from eglobal on ebay (shock)

galactus2013

That is the general consensus really, the Pixel 2 and U11+ basically trade blows in many areas. I think the biggest difference is audio in video recordings from the U11+ You can't really go wrong camera wise with the S9, U11+ or Pixel 2

If I couldn't afford an iPhone, I still wouldn't get an Android phone. Of course, I can afford an iPhone, so no worries. Oh, I voted cold on this. Was I stating the obvious?

ionic

Does anyone know if this phone can be used dual SIM? Or does the second slot only work for SD cards?

jenglert1987

This is a decent deal for this phone! I purchased a grade B and the condition was really good, no noticable blemishes. Two things to note with this phone: 1) You have to use HTC's USB audio adaptor for headphones otherwise it gives you an error, although you can use the AudioRouter app to get 3rd party adaptors to work. 2) This phone is FRAGILE, all glass phones are to an extent but this one especially. Mine fell out of my pocket only two days after I received it, on to a relatively hard floor from about 2 ft and yup.. back smashed to pieces. You 100% need a case on this phone, particularly as it is so slippy

If you're trying to imply that's me (someone that doesn't even own one) then it's a laughable comment. I've been waiting for a decent htc since the m7 but this is so non descript. Then they ruined it by using glass, and getting rid of the decent Htc apps using google ones instead, and no headphone jack. They always get so close but yet so far. The package is good though, if there's cashback to mitigate the initial charge I might bite.

iar1980

The Audio experience on this phone is nothing short of superb.

avfc456

Very tempted by this, remember owning the original M7 which was in my opinion a superb handset, never owned a handset since that gives audio performance via headphones like it - is this much the same?

Heat. Whoever says a Nokia is better must be on drugs. Should be the pixel 2. 128gb and 6 gram. 835 processor nails an s8. Ace phone.

galactus2013

Heat from me, the biggest flaw the U11 had from it's peers were the big bezels. Now they are gone. Resale value on LG phones is worse than HTC from experience and I'd much rather have a display that isn't blotchy and doesn't go blue when I tilt it. The smoother and almost stock like skin HTC uses is the main kicker for me and since it ships with Oreo, it will have support for Treble.

avfc456

So tempted when my contract finishes with my iphone 6s in Feb to come back to HTC, loved my M7, never heard sound quality through headphones like it, I'm hoping nothing has changed

TechnoDonkey

Apparently the camera is really good on this. Pretty sure I heard on Myriam Joire's podcast that it is the same sensor as on the normal U11 - which is one of the best phone cameras available at the moment. This also effectively is a Pixel. Fast updates, no bloat. The 630 is the next gen version of the 625 - a really solid CPU in itself, which offers excellent battery life. The Nokia 8 is a great price at the minute but the camera is nothing special, and I do like to take a lot of photos. I'm genuinely tempted to send my N8 back and pick this up..🤔

kroe9

I agree this phone won't be everyones choice, but it's a bit of money knocked off for those that want it. (This isn't a phone review site, it's a deals site). I would suggest your comparison is also unfair. You have totally different price points in the two phones. You're talking approx 20% difference. That's around the same percentage difference between the two new iPhones!

Uns

Agreed. Either save £100 and get a Huawei P10 lite, or spend an extra £100 and get the Nokia 8.

It is similar but HTC has been doing this style for a long time. This was HTC M7 that came out in early 2013:The construction of this phone was outstanding. Ahead of all competitors. HTC unfortunately does not get the praise they deserve for innovating. They debuted the dual camera in 2014 IRC, and people mocked it back then. But now you have the likes of apple launching the same thing.

Didn't say that I did. What I said was it's not the same as the UK model. If you don't have a use for extra ram and storage that's fine, but other people do.

plewis00

Like I said, if you want to risk £500+ on a grey import then more fool you. I honestly think in a phone where you can expand the memory with a card, 64 or even 32 is adequate and I can't see more than 4GB RAM being any use other than bragging rights. But it's personal preference and I would accept losing that storage and extra RAM for the peace of mind of buying from a legit UK source, it's just not enough of a saving to be worth the risk (to me).

nublets2k

You can buy the dual sim version from HTC in the UK as long as you are happy with red. http://www.htc.com/uk/go/buy-htc-u11/

nublets2k

Yeah, although double the on board storage and 2gb more ram isn't an insignificant spec difference to be picky about.

plewis00

You're probably right and I don't think we'll see the dual-SIM over here natively either. Just too much to risk for me personally and HTC are good but have never really had a great comeback since the M7

It's really unhelpful for people to vote this cold and not provide an alternative, especially when others are trying to find the "hottest" deal. They should implement something that asks for an alternative when ever someone votes cold otherwise the vote doesn't count

It's a shame it got so many undeserved cold votes! Even sim free, direct from HTC, you are looking at £584. And a sim only deal with similar data would cost you £120 a year. Sadly any phone that costs > £200, or is Apple, or isn't Apple, or comes from China gets cold votes on HUKD.
