Is it still worth it buying in 2021 at this price?
As well there is no easy/safe option to unlock bootloader. I bought m5 10.8" two years ago at this price and stucked on android 9 and is ok but next time i will buy chromebook like a lenovo duet.
No bothered about it being on android 8, have the 3GB version, great tablet. One of the few tablets that can play Netflix in Full HD: https://9to5google.com/2019/05/31/netflix-hd-pixel-2-pixel-3-oneplus-7-pro/
You got the 3gb or 4gb version? Also, strange thing about Amazon, seems every time I go on here (minutes apart) it's a different price. (flirt)
AndroidTM 8.0 and EMUI 8.0 (whatever EMUI 8.0 is)

Ask for it to be investigated. Did you ask for compensation? Happened to me before. Nominated day should mean it's allocated to you (like when you S&S), but never is guaranteed. Always next day it for bargains or price errors. As above, ask for compensation.
I ordered when several showing in stock using Amazon Day delivery. Didn't arrive, got an email after the due day saying out of stock, no more expected and cancelled. That's a lesson never to ever use Amazon Day delivery I guess.
Ouch..now that's sad to know. I hope you get it.
Mine went missing in the post 😩
I got told to return it also. Might be linked to that they refunded me earlier this month around £35 on the R35 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner Stick as it was missing a magnetic wet. Might have to wait and try again next month :)

Still not convinced paying more for less for the A7 as per comments above :(
The tab A7 can regularly be had for not much more than this, either refurb or brand new if you keep an eye out for discount codes that regularly appear.
Owned one of these for a couple months and personally found it an ergonomic catastrophe. Just never felt you were holding it in the right position as a the buttons never felt naturally placed along with camera etc. Speakers were good but compared to even very old ipads this just felt an unpleasant user experience
Yeah and at least £40 dearer.
I bought the 4gb version off eBay for crazy cheap from a private buyer, can confirm the speakers in this are crazy good. Never experienced such great sound from a portable device. This makes it great for watching TV and YouTube and stuff in the kitchen.

the tablet start calling you by name :D
Yeh you can be on to something there mate! (lol)
How would you know if they had?
I must be quite an insignificant person as they haven't bothered hacking me.
Dunno. Bought mine 15 months ago. Although it's stuck on Oreo that's not an issue as all my apps work ok and it still gets security updates.

Buy the Alldocube iplay 40 you won't regret it. I've just received mine a few days ago.... Super fluid and smooth, puts all these high end tablets to shame!
No offence taken. It's all a matter of opinion and yours is at least as valid as mine.
No offence but I don't think any of them match or better specs of this tablet at this price, except being a later Android version.
Look at the Samsung galaxy range, lenovo and newer Huawei like the mediapad 10.4 which won't have Google services but there's lots of workarounds.
What recent tablet would be better for the money?

Android update is the the most important element, all it gives you are new features (that you might not need), hence a lot of old Android phones or tablets still works. What's important maybe is the security updates. I don't believe there's an Android 11 tablet out there at the moment, but like I've said, it's mainly new features that I can live without.
Thanks for sharing - seeing this, definitely worth the extra £10 - better cameras, speakers, fingerprint sensor, much bigger battery, USB-C...
Yes, but the Lenovo comes with 9 or 10, while this one is 8. Not only this, may be a while for the Lenovo to update, while we know for sure this one will not get an update, will stay on 8 forever.
Problem is that Lenovo is even worse when it comes to updates. Used to have tab 4 8 plus the (released on 02/2017) which stuck on android 8 (or 9, can't remember really) and security update from ages ago.
It depends of your kids age too. My son is still with Android 7 and he's fine with this. My tablet, 1 year old, on Android 9 and I'm fine with this too. My phone is Android 8, well tomorrow the new phone will be Android 11, but so far I was able to find anything I wanted on Android 8. Yes, the newer the better, but don't expect to see Android 11 on most tablet soon. Android 8 is a bit old, but 9 is not bad. If you're looking at a newer model, with the latest, or a more recent Android, you'll pay more. It may worth, for the age of my kids, this tablet is more than enough. But lack of further updates is a big issue IMO. You'll have to look at a different brand. Perhaps Lenovo M10 Plus can be an option. But some older models are better than new ones.

Music magpie they had an extra 10 % for trade in price
Where did you do the trade in?
Does this have a HDMI out port on it? If not can anyone recommend a tablet with a HDMI port on it. Need something for streaming video to a projector..... Any help or advise welcome
Tablet arrived today looks good, as only going to use for browsing and media . Plenty fast enough for that. Traded in an iPad air2 and got this very happy with my choice
So, what is better with regards to performance, specs, updates etc. This T5 or the Mediapad M5 Lite, when its back in stock at JL?? https://www.johnlewis.com/huawei-mediapad-m5-lite-10-tablet-android-kirin-659-3gb-ram-32gb-emmc-10-1-inch-grey/p3747209 Edit - Just answered my own question with a handy compare tickbox on the Huawei website. M5 Lite it is then!!

Expire now, thanks
Code no longer appears to be working?
This is one of the last Huawei tablet to have Google services. Plus Widewine L1/Netflix certified which means HD content on all streaming services (y)
how does this compare to the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 thank you
Thanks

It does but beware, I am already finding that being stuck on Android 8 is a limiting factor. Quite a few of the apps that I am used to having on my phone won't install on this. And, of course, this problem will just get worse. I know that there are probably ways around this using apks or rooting the device but some of us don't want that sort of hassle. So, a nice device but already well on the way to being obsolete.
Aaaaaaaarrrgh! In the hunt for new tablets for my 3 goblins. They currently have Huawei's which have been great, but the probable/potential lack of Google Play support in the future is really putting me off. I've been comparing these with Samsungs, but the Samsung never seem to get near the same specs for the same price! (A7 tab being only 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM for £10 more). Are Samsung likely to have same spec tablets reduced come January?
The Tab A 10.1 is a brilliant tablet.
yes
Better buy than the samsung tab A 10.1"

Oh I know, my wife used to be with HSBC and had no end of problems with them (customer services) and their app. It was a just more of a warning (y)
Don't use the HSBC app as a benchmark, that one does not work even on the highest specs. Whoever built B&Q or Argos website, built the HSBC app too, one more useless than the other :D
Be careful buying one of these. We got one for my mother in law as her eye sight wasn't as good as it used to be. She used it for her online banking but recently the HSBC app stopped working as it said it was no longer compatible with the device. Very annoying considering we only got it during the summer.
Not bad, but 2GB RAM and 16GB storage is not great for this price. Decent tablet, but maybe for £90-100. I didn't vote.
Ok, thanks for your comments. I took the plunge and got oneas I would only use it for browsing on the sofa or watching films downloadedonto a microSD card.

Expired, sorry
speakers back in stock but the code isn't working
I have one and rate it. It has an old version of Android, but security updates appear occasionally.
Great deal op. If I hadn't had bought the Lenovo M10 plus with similar specs, I would have got this!
Very good deal here @Tacavas (y)

That's what every mod on HotUKdeals looks like. (lol) (lol) (lol)
No your right ... Offer still on. Just hidden away and not very obvious!
Hope this works consumer.huawei.com/uk/tablets/mediapad-t5/buy/?tduid=edd8cd1bcfddc434890c54a3d51f1e8d&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=HotUKDeals Sorry, old link. No speakers. Ignore.
Have you got a link? Can't see this offer on Huawei's website just the tablet for 139.
That's a definite opinion, and I appreciate it, but still, a good saving hence the post :)

I'm seconding this question too.. I'm seeing models that don't have google/hd streaming services... not sure there's a winner but I hope so!
Emui 10 that's Android 10 with Huawei skin on ir, it updated automatically from the settings menu-check for update button
How you did that? Any guides?
Whats the best alternative to this with updateable Android/latest version at this price point and spec ? Im gusssing Lenovo?
Nope. The top Amazon ones I guess, but specs are not quite as good as far as I am aware

yes more memory is always better.
Is it an issue that this is still Android 8?
The 10% code isn't even there anymore
While Stocks last ?? its only a small thing (£15 rrp)
There's no free speaker?

Hey guys. It's just arrived. Really great device feels solid and does still have all Google services. I know the price has gone up a tenner but for the spec I think it's still well worth it
As I said before, if youre willing to wait, you will get the M10 cheaper. You've got a really good deal here but I don't think will last long: https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lenovo-tab-m10-fhd-plus-103-4gb64gb-fhd-tablet-3536006
Provided your provider allows 'tethering' (most do) then yes, it's a simple case of going into the phones WiFi/Mobile settings and creating a 'WiFi Hotspot'. Once setup you can then just turn the Wifi Hotspot on and off with the click of a single button on the phone.
Got ya mate. Thanks for that. So I can just use my phone to do it, I have unlimited data on there anyway, and I can't see me in a situation very often where I'd need it for the tablet. The box is a bit pointless then. They're going for £25 on Fleabay. That's where it's going.
Seems like the mobile WiFi gizmo is out of stock, shame, I would have bought one for this price.

The Alldocube iplay 20 for £92 delivered at Banggood is faster , has 4GB ram and 64GB storage - also comes with the latest Android 10. For anyone prepared to wait for delivery from China , its a much better buy ( though to be fair you have to accept there is no effective warranty when buying from Chinese sites) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zna3G29hDoI&feature=emb_logo
16GB \ 2GB all depends on your scenario. Got the missus a similar one at Xmas. She does Email, Browsing, Banking, WhatsApp Chat and a few other bits. For these things it's a decent tablet and not slow. If you are loading it up with games or hundreds of apps taking up resource in the background then sure it will be laggy.
Put an sdcard in it then but as already mentioned, it's the 2gb memory that's making it slow. I have over 100 apps on my t5 and it's only used 14gb of the storage.. I have the 4gb/64gb version and it's super quick and a brilliant tablet although was £169 My storage....
You can't install apps to the ad card for some idiotic reason, I was disturbed to find out only after buying it.
knowledge fail... Things slow because 2gb ram not disk space.

Oos
My son has this, replaced a Samsung Tab A and I've regretted it every day. It performs *slightly* better than the Tab A but the screen isn't half as good, the default DPI makes everything look like a kids tablet, it tries to default to landscape for almost everything, if you use the developer settings it resets them every single power off so you have to redo the DPI so you can read things. No newer Android for it but they do seem to still push EMUI updates out to it. The plus sides are a lot of storage for the money, the battery is fairly good for a tablet, sound is OK, as a media only tablet it's capable. I paid about the same for this too back in January with a 6 month warranty. Probably good for older people as the icons are so big (y)
This is the T5's higher version with 4GB/64GB. The processor is slightly faster in Samsung but only with 2GB RAM. The stereo speakers are better, with the T5. Samsung has side firing speakers, no stereo sound.
Oos
Let's face it, a lifetime guarantee is meaningless anyway. So 3 months, well, a token gesture I guess. I had one of these and, like every Huawei item I've had, the screen broke very easily. I have given up on Huawei, and not because of the politics, because of the screens. Just me I guess.

Yep, tried that thanks. Further research suggests it's due to the latest version of Fire launcher being able to detect other launchers. I've now successfully rolled back to an earlier Fire launcher version (using the Amazon Fire Toolbox) and other launchers seem to be functioning okay (for now!)
Did you uninstall the original hijacker and then install the renamed version? It may also be something to do with your Fire aswell, I remember something about the current models being air tight for this sort of thing.
Thanks but not working correctly for me. I get the annoying 5 second delay when pressing the home key, where the fire launcher is displayed.
Using a T5 to post this. Great tablet. Does get monthly security/bug updates but stuck on Android 8 probably for ever if that's a problem.
You need a renamed version of launcher hijack https://www.mediafire.com/file/kqa89yndk468itf/Launcher.Hijack.v.4.0.3.b.43.Clone.apk/file

Does anyone know of a good case for this?
They can try. I paid with PayPal so I feel pretty secure. I just hope currys will send me new, uncracked unit, unlike crap amazon sent me.
Gave up on live chat, will ring in morning
Good luck with Currys. Absolutely awful CS, at least Amazon will refund you, Currys will just take the p***
I did one return maybe, like last year. I spent quite a bit there too. I just cant keep tablet with cracked docking station. I ordered from currys, sorry amazon but we will see how much better or worse currys service will be. Bigger items also takes two days to deliver on amazon these days. Where is my next day free delivery. I pay my sub !
That deal has unfortunately expired, it was this: https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/huawei-mediapad-t5-101-inches-black-32gb-ps7631delivered-at-amazon-3729171 Edit: 2 available here currently for £90: https://www.elekdirect.co.uk/product/huawei-mediapad-t5-10-1-inch-32gb-tablet-black-53011pbv-h49/
Can I ask where your deal is from as I'm interested .much appreciated.
Yes, true quite a few companies lock that down, which is a shame. On this particular model, you can specify the default storage location as 'SD Card' which helps if you like to have a lot of things......always set that up from day one. At the time of writing, there are two 'used acceptable' ones available for £80 delivered, great price. I already have two with LTE and can't fault them at that price point. Don't be fooled by trolls who expect bluetooth 5, wireless charging and 2k screen at this price (lol)
Another downside is if you run out of storage, you can't transfer apps to an sd card or if they transfer, they will not work. You can transfer movies or pictures. However, this applies to all Huawei tablets as far as I'm aware. That's the reason I've gone with a Lenovo FHD instead which comes with a newer Android and USB C. I lose the HD feature with Netflix but I don't need it anyway.
Micro USB (zombie)
