Can you still use banking apps through this method?
See my post above. I'm not sure that Biden will remove the restriction he's very critical of China, their politics and ethics so I think the sanction is likely to stay. I also think that Huawei won't be in a rush to reinstate Google services anyway even if the sanction is lifted because of their incredible work on HarmonyOS.
hi Optom. I'm new here and still can't send messages. Can I leave my email here?
If anyone wants a code pm me. Regards.
Hello. I would like to get a coupon to buy at a discount for students. If anyone can get a coupon for me, I appreciate it. Thanks
I have the matepad pro and all the apps are easy to get except for Barclays. But I am a huawei fan so I've signed up to starling bank (that is in the huawei app store). Its a better bank and now after experiencing life without having my phone controlled by Google. While still having Google apps I need working. I am looking forward to getting a new huawei phone
Yes I've heard the audio isn't great, unlike the Mate 40. I didn't realise Google Pay wouldn't work. I should have known really. I've been tempted with the Mate after being uninspired by the Note 20 Ultra.
If I googlefier this and then update to emui 11 will this un googlify?
I have the P40 Pro, the only issue I have is gmail doesn't give notifications. That's pretty much it.
That’s my thoughts exactly. Out of curiosity has anyone who put GMS on this had any major issues? Banking Apps don’t worry me and nor does Android pay. I’m half considering if I would need Google to be honest. It may be a welcome change to get away from the norm.
Never miss a 'Huawei P40' deal again!
Receive notifications for all new deals matching this alert!
What's the point with these? No banks, no xbox etc app, no Google services, no netflix... probably can get round it with a hacking degree but get another make for a few quid more to avoid all the hassle.
Price gone up to £499 now. Anyone received a order confirmation email? I have not received mine, but the Paypal payment has been taken.
Nice find switchy
Not available easily now. Used to be, but I think the big G are closing as many loopholes as possible atm
Thanks. Sorry to clarify, they don't come pre-loaded or they're not available at all? Bit of a deal breaker if not available at all / easily!

Again, I am talking about the P40 pro NOT the P40, you clearly have misread from the outset,.
Oh and one more thing why would anyone use the expandable storage on Huawei phones it cost a fortune for there memory cards and you can't use them on other phones as there not standard micro SD cards
Oh and the mi10 has faster charging 30watt Vs 22 on p40 plus the mi10 has more ram on this version 8gb verse the 6gb on this p40 and the battery on mi10 is nearly a 1000 mah more you can't compare these 2 phones mi10 is a cut above oh and the p40 only has a 60hz display Vs 90 on the mi10
Mi10 has better procceser better speakers better screen better battery life faster ram faster ufs storage better cooling system Google services faster wireless charger faster revers wireless charging better GPU unlike what you said lol you got that so wrong plus you get £80 worth of extras
Mate are you serious you think Kirin 990 has a better GPU than Snapdragon 865 (lol) (lol) the p40 is no were near as good as mi10 only in camera every other thing is worse

No I'm not, but I have been a software developer - I know how software works! You don't like what I say, ignore me. Don't try to bully me into not speaking! There is only one thing pathetic here & it isn't my knowledge of software, it is others blindly reassuring others that it is safe to install software they have no idea the provenance of!
My Barclays app work without any issues
You don't like it don't buy There is nothing wrong adding Google to your android. Don't see any joke there! You're android developer and know how framework works? If NO then stop being pathetic nobody forcing you to do it
(confused) don't understand - guessing that was a joke? People risking being defrauded is not a joking matter.
You forgot to mention that the banking apps also don't work. That is very important for most people.
you get the adapter in the box but it can be a pain. most top end smartphones don't have them anymore due to it being cheaper to make the phone water resistant - apparently
Blast they removed the 3.5mm headphone jack from the P30...I blame Apple for this silliness!
For google photos i just go through the browser personally. But i have taken advantage of the free 50GB huawei cloud storage and using that from now on.
SkyGo is available from the Huawei appgalley and most UK banking apps can be transferred over by using the huawei data transfer app Phone Clone, thats how i got my halifax and tesco bank app. I have a list somewhere if you want me to check a particular banking app?
Yeah, another I found for the galaxy Z flip 5G god cancelled, another glitch. I need to stop disappointing myself (embarrassed) :D
Mrswitch I have a Huawei Mate 20X from a deal you recommended 18 months ago, and am looking for an upgrade. Need Google as use G Suite for work. What would you recommend? Heavy data user, camera and use android auto, fitness apps etc.

Amazon fixed it but asked me to go to Huawei first, which I did. So the result is the same. Huawei UK customer service is poor to non extant and their representatives are told to bat you off until you give up. Buyer beware etc.. etc..
I'd love one tbh, just can't afford it atm. :(
Yes it is got 314 discount though
Looks good, very expensive (shock)

According to huawei community there are a few things that may not work on a few of them but the main functions of the apps work fine. In terms of updating them huawei have the app 'petal search' it came pre installed on my p40 pro and updates them for me. it basically tells my when a new version of that app is available and replaces the old one (picture ref). Petal search vets the apps before they install to make sure they are safe and legit. Huawei may have their own services now but the phone is still android meaning getting apps isn't a problem. It just means they aren't on huawei appgallery just yet.
I was under the impression that they transfer over but you cannot use them to make payments or transfer money because that uses the Google services part. In addition, as the updates to these apps are reliant on the Google play store, no updates will be applied to the them. As the banks usually insist that you are running the latest version of the app for security reasons, I'm guessing that they will become obsolete on newer Huawei phones pretty quickly.
True several are not available, these go over via the initial data transfer ... Lloyds bank, Santander, Halifax, HSBC, RBS, Nationwide, First Direct, Tesco Bank, Revolut, Sterling Bank, Monzo, TSB, American Express, Co-op bank, Natwest, Bank of Ireland and AIB apps all transfer over from your previous android phone to hms phones and work no problem.
I access most google services via the browser on my p40 pro and huawei pay (contactless) is coming soon according to the huawei community pages.
Last generation Huawei seem to be the best value for money for my needs. I have a Mate 20X and a Mate 20 Pro and they are great. Others swear by P20 Pro and P30 Pro.
It's no problem. I really do appreciate the post, I have been waiting to see when the device finally will arrive and i apologies for being so abrupt and I was not meaning to be rude. But I can see how it could have come off that way.
How are you finding notifications. Went to buy the P40 but held out for the pro plus. Waiting for carriers to stock it so I can get on a monthly contract. The problem is a lot of people are lazy and just want apps straight away for everything No idea how they managed before. Like I say, I see some people are having issues with notifications either not coming through or delayed by a few hours. I had the p30 pro from launch (on an s10 currently due to dropping and breaking my p30). I think its a breath of fresh air adding another OS into the mix and the money they are pumping into it im sure it will succeed. The bit I find laughable is how many people instantly reply with good luck being spied on by the Chinese, yet are happy to allow Google and Facebook apps to track and sell all their data but don't think twice about it. I'm on starling so I know that works fine.
Thanks for the input, as my first post here it is a learning process I'll check out Here we go maps and see how I go ! Cheers
I totally understand, it just seems that deals with more information on the site tend to get a better response, especially how this deal is expensive, it would seem to me that people have seen the price and the fact that it doesn't have the Google play store and immediately voted cold without looking at why the device is that price and the freebies with it. In my opinion it has set it up to fail because the site voting system is so flawed. Here we go maps is the recommended maps, I haven't been many places yet with it but the few times I have used it it was great. Amazon delivery drivers use it to get around.
Whilst this might have gone cold, we appreciate the time you've taken to share it @68gtv <3

If MODS require my emails between them... I am happy to supply directly.
Can mods take a look at this then? Suggest wowcamera shouldn't be on here.
Yep, bought it just over 3 weeks ago.
I have the p40 pro and the Netflix app is available via petal search app, works fine for me. also i bank with Halifax and my app went over via the data transfer. Other than NFC payments the app work fine. I don't use my phone for payments anyways so no problem for me. I am on the huawei community forums and found that there are a lot of banking apps that transfer over and work fine. I can see why some people might be afraid of trying something new but its worth it for this camera. It's not as bad as people make out, most things you can just use the browser and create a home screen shortcut. Don't knock it until you try it. The app petal search made it a lot easier to find the apps i wanted.
That's terrible. Is it a recent purchase? I did some digging and the practice you are referring to was certainly in place last year but they removed all reference to restocking fees from their returns and inserted the clause to confirm compliance with DSR. If your purchase is recent, it suggests that they are not currently complying with their latest Terms & Conditions and I would certainly support not allowing Wowcamera on HUKD.
I don't have any WhatsApp notification issues but I have seen people saying that they have. I haven't side loaded Google. I transferred the app via phone clone.
I'm planning to buy this model. What about issue with WhatsApp notifications above that stoney73 reports? Did he not installed GMS? , just cloned apps from his old phone?
At the moment lloyds, halifax, santander, HSBC, RBS, Tesco bank, monzo, TSB, American Express, Co-op bank and first direct all work when sent via Huawei phone clone from a GMS device to a HMS device. contact less payments don't work on the devices however. I use three of the above personally and can confirm they work without issue. This is not a windows re-run as huawei already have millions of users using AppGallery, in the last 6 months is has got a lot more apps and a lot more western. I'm sticking with it - i think they could rival the play store very soon.
Facebook app can download from Facebook.com or amazon app store. I'd be more concerned about things like banking apps not being available.
"if" it stops.... I have a Google services id which is a massive plus.
which version of p40 is this? i can't find a p40 5g model specifications.
If he didn’t kick off then Huawei would take over Apple and Google. That’s what this is all about. Huawei have the clout to keep innovating and moving on the market beyond Apple. They make their own processors and modems also. USA can’t stand not being in the picture.
More to the point, that the work around for this is buggy at best. Not to mention its unsafe.
It's easy peasy to install the full suite of GMS (Google Mobile Services, including Google Play) on this phone. YouTube is your friend.
Fair enough but the security concerns are real, I mean it's hard to trust our own let's alone the Chinese govt.

Working upto 2 days ago as I did it for someone else on their p40 pro.
It doesnt work, look at the comments for those videos, major whinging because you cannot install GMS using the method they have shown..to date there is no 100% working workaround to get GMS on this device....you may have managed it but that method is now closed.
That's because Huawei developed it ;)
Thanks a pity (skeptical)
The LZ Play app was found to use undocumented Huawei-owned APIs, and was quickly pulled. https://www.engadget.com/2019-10-02-huawei-mate-30-workaround-lzplay-shut-down.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAJ2diHrQlnlXGMKip5agQJ3s-33FjDYxnjT9GFDIRzgnuDz3dGf7XH8ataA8dEPm6HRFc7NgJMuyOhPq9PrdG3FoF-GXszMeGsmDWNl-knXPtFwCfGUx6w4cu_nb1uZiisb4gnFhezGvwHpXRHhCcrLwrrN--URbHb0M2xJOgmg9
