That sucks :( should be easy to return in store at least

Arrived today, poor quality more like c grade large scratches on screen and back, getting returned tomorrow

I'm almost certain yours was carrier-branded, which usually takes ages to update - example here:

Don't forget to do a backup if necessary before hard-resetting. My 'Plus' takes about a second to start up & be ready for a shot - is yours slower than that? The battery easily lasts the whole day, most days with medium-heavy use. It also has quick-charging capability & quick-charger which helps. I've had my Plus since Sept 2017 - bought 'as new', retail-boxed on eBay. The Plus model originally came out in April 2016, but no way to tell how old my particular handset really was, & even though it came with a Euro plug it didn't have a European firmware originally (I force-installed one later after unlocking the bootloader, etc). Also, did an online warranty check with the IMEI which came up with a vague message, but when I registered the phone with Huawei ID they gave me a year's free warranty. Mate 20 should be awesome, but expensive to begin with.

I previously got mine which was a Vodaphone P9 from CEX and it was unlocked to O2 no;

Where to get this unlocked? Struggling 😣

Out of stock ..... :(

My P9 got dropped few times and faced many torture but i found it very durable because of almunium back ...Its definitely more durable than p20 ..yes firmware finder is best thing for updating software . I actually rooted and install custom firmware after debranding it..Huawei is shutting down unlcoking bootloader servies in few months which is not good when they already have poor record of updating their firmware but nougat is great so not bad..nougat should be minimum for today

Agreed it getting on a bit. On the other hand, 3GB of Ram is good for the money. Bought my mother one of these over a year ago and she loves it.

It's getting on a bit now, seems a lot to pay for an old phone with no UK warranty.

Thanks...quite tempting. I think the better option at £180 (with coupon) is the Mi5 plus which is the same price but has the 831 snapdragon chip. I can't post a link as banggood is banned from this site

Might be wrong but I think pro version exists only in India, because what the rest of the world calls Redmi 5 is called Redmi note 5 there , so the pro is being used - row Redmi 5 = India Redmi Note 5 , row Redmi Note 5 = India Redmi Note 5 Pro .

That's not the pro version.....

I would go for it if that was the pro version on sale. I tried to find the pro version with the 636 snapdragon but couldn't find it?

this deal is just cool, as now new product launched from Huawei that is Honor 9 lite great gadget. should consider that one instead of this one.

I think you are right but it was nearly this over a year ago at cpw before the p8 lite 2017 was out that was the time to buy it not now when the newer model has nearly been this. Sorry I'll have to disagree because a deal is also about being on the right phone at the right time not just because it is slightly cheaper now. Cold from me

I don't disagree and went the Xiaomi (A1) route myself (still available for £135 from a deal listed). But I know the p9 is highly regarded on here and this was the cheapest I'd seen it.

Yeah sounds like them (Philips) I'm not a big fan, I went on there website not long ago very difficult to find there customer service or a phone number and when I did email them from there email link I got a message back saying the email address did not exist.

The p9 lite is long in the tooth now. And why buy a UK release phone off a dodgy seller in China. This is cold for me as 130 gets you a p8 lite from a trusted UK retail shop and if your going china anyway you'd be better off with a Xiaomi. No point buying this

Guys is it safe to buy phones from gearbeast?

amazon uk 120 quid

With Huawei and updates, its about the vendor code. To give an example the device may have software version XXX-XXXC432B003. The C432 means its Huawei retail version and will always get the updates first. Even if your phone has been unlocked, it may have a different vendor code, and this vendor may have not released the update to N. Marc, you will have to find your vendor code, then find if they have released an update, then learn how to manually flash if your device is not updating.

Am sim- free (giffgaff then Smarty) so not sure how I am missing update to M, any advice gratefully received! As far as I am aware there was an update released outside of carriers versions but recalled due to various problems, would love to get N if I can without flashing! 😁

I would stretch the extra £30 for the Xiaomi Mi A1. 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, security updates direct from Google.

On the real, how many times on HUKD here, when people have said they've bought ANY of the longgggg like Xiaomi Phone Model's, from either BangGood, GearBest, AliExpress, TopTom, etc etc etc, and the like, have the majority said/complained about being stung forth/screwed over via you above aforementioned 'stipulation' like?, or ... Despite the majority of those same said people sometimes spending towards of £140+ for their respective chosen Xiaomi Brand of Phone?. So what your stating as hardcore 'fact', is purely speculative at best I reckon?. :-)

Good phone and had mine for just under a year but only downside is the rubbish camera. It is very blotchy and zoom is horrible, so if there is software out there that improves the image side of it ....... buy buy buy. ... hot.

They have legally assumed responsibility when you paid with their card. Talk to citizens advice about your next step because it sounds like amex are trying to duck their responsibilities

Even after 4-5 months? They gave me a 'claim number' about 2 weeks ago but said it was unlikely they could do anything if AliExpress didn't respond. And nothing has happened since

They are legally obliged to do so, amex should have refunded you by now

Purchased this recently 'like new', fully boxed from eBay for just over £250 (UK model). Love it - was using a Huawei P8 previously. The battery life is noticeably better (being 700mAh more), & so are many other aspects of course. It was £228 a few weeks ago at EGC (so might fall again - keep looking), but I must've forgotten to post it - the discount code, NEWARRIVAL for £8 off, still works. The reasons why I didn't buy it from EGC were the colour (wanted a black), lack of NFC in this model (i.e. VIE-AL10 - Chinese/HK version only), & risk of buying from the FE. Have bought several items from the FE, but don't think I've ever risked more than £25 on any one item / order.

Only slightly above average unfortunately. I've come from the iPhone 7 and it is noticeably better than that but still looking at around 4.5-5hrs screen on time over the course of a day. I have 3 email accounts syncing every 15mins but do not have Facebook, instagram, twitter etc and I do not game on my phone. I do use a lot of WhatsApp, HUKD and Chrome... Oh and also a lot of YouTube (1080p usually, not 1440p) over 4G. Never turn on WiFi and tend to get through a full day with around 5-10% battery. (off the charge at 6:00, back on around 23:00). Hope that helps.

What's the battery life like?

Good price for a good phone (using one right now that cost me £500). Still, would not order anything over >£50 from eglobal/china/hk/grey import due to the nature of electronic devices and the warranty you'll get lack of any warranty and possible customs charges on top. Added heat for the price for those who would risk it.

Get dealGet deal

P.S. seeing that they have a Chinese version listed separately for more (£359.99),, which also mentions the following: "This is a Chinese version smartphone.Q: What does it mean by Chinese version? A: Chinese version mobile phones does not come with Google Play initially. User will need to download Google Play from the phone's app store. The phone also comes with pre-installed Chinese apps which you may choose to disable. Please note any update of the ROM will void the warranty that is provided by us." I'm thinking (but may be wrong), that the HK version may differ from the Chinese version & could actually be an International version (VIE-L29), & if so, will have B20 & NFC.

Yeah, but you may be liable for return delivery costs? Yes, English can be chosen as a language (for updates too), but you'll need to install G'Play yourself (easy enough apparently). Most of the quirks & benefits are mentioned in this XDA thread: To VIE-AL10 or not?

Thanks. I guess if no band 20 I can return (or claim back on credit card if they don't refund), as description is clear in saying it does have it. Anything else I should be thinking about? Firmware will be English and include Play Store I guess?

Same here, but there's no way I'll be spending ~£600(?) on a phone!

Yes, this would be better than the P10 Lite. Not 100% about B20 support (even though EGC says it does), that's why I didn't mention it. If it's a VIE-AL10, then most likely no B20.

Beware of buying off gearbest if you parcel goes missing this is a sample of what you will get when trying to get you money back 1."Both parties agree that, following order dispatch, transportation is the sole responsibility of the third-party logistic company. During this stage, full ownership of the product(s) belongs to the buyer; all associated liability and risks during the transportation shall be borne by the buyer". 2."Any orders that do not have shipping insurance will not be the responsibility of Gearbest and the customer takes full liability for their package during the shipping process."

Is this still a good deal if you have to pay customs and import duties since it comes from China? thanks.

Regarding the Bluetooh issue you encounter it may be the same which happened to me (and others). During one of the official OTA upgrades to Nougat only half of the firmware was flashed and the part containing the bluetooh/NFC was not, hence both Bluetooth and NFC would not work at all. Also the phone model in the settings page would come up as something very odd. The solution was rolling back to the previous Android version (Marshmallow) and re-flashing the whole updated firmware (Nougat) again. Look for guides on the web. I could sort mine out. In spite of that, no regrets on having purchased this model. Great phone for what it costs (I paid £135 for mine locked to EE last year... but since it has been unlocked, debranded and 2nd SIM active). The tutorial I used for resolving the BT issue was this one And the one to debrand and make dual-SIM was this one:

The main factor for me over the p8s and the p9 lite is the faster cat speeds. The p9 lite has 2 LTE data radios and can do Lte-a 2ca the p8 is older tech and only does cat 4 1ca

I have the Huawei P9. It worked great for a few months then began to slow down, now I have issues with Bluetooth not turning on, battery dies quickly etc. :-(

If you're security consious, don't get any Android phone. Major flaws in the Android Market atm.

Ehh I’m security conscious so I like my monthly security patches from google let alone being 2 major versions behind.

Could be worse, you could have had something older, like Ice Cream Sandwich which means forget about external storage. or something too new with many bugs. M came oout in 2015, enough time to mature and fix bugs.

Just to add. These Huawei phones have really good antennas. I've compared many phones side by side with the same network and where other phones have no network the huawei does.

Great phone, update to Nougat on the way with a healthy dose of 4G data!

Yeah same here dont want to deal with them again. In my case i received simple envelope with little bubble protection inside. I added extra packaging to make sure it arrive safe. They opened whole phone even when claiming phone wont be repaired. It had solid dents everywhere plus side insulation film missing when i received back.

I bought from Amazon (directly sold) . They refunded me after Huawei sent phone back by falsely saying that phone is blacklisted even when there were enough proof of it not blacklisted. If i had bought direct from Google then it could be better exp as i heard they replace phone rather than repairing plus better customer service. But i never had personal exp with google.

I am fully aware of the Consumer Rights Act and SOGA but I don't think it is the retailer's fault - they didn't make it, Huawei did and they should have the decency to stand behind their products and fix it, not pass the buck.

Where did you buy it from? That's what you should've done first - according to UK law (Consumer Rights Act, formerly Sales of Goods Act), the onus is always with the retailer/store to honour the warranty.

Had this for a couple of days but returned to store due to the fact the actual size of screen used after you account for the home and back bar is only 5.5inch!.The main selling point of the mate series was size.Gone from 6.3 inch ,6 inch and now smaller screen view than the note 5!! Roll on a genuine big screen

One plus 3T is cheaper and better.

Tell you what i would have if screen was larger 6" and didn't have that awful Porsche at the front. Not worth price tag with the current specs

you should of bought the porche version at £1200!!

I've had the predisessor, the mate 8 about a year now, it's an absolute awesome phone. There is nothing significantly better at the moment. Runs very cool and super fast a year on. It basically comes down to if you want a big screen or not. If you do loads on your phone this the mate 9 is a no brainier. superb camera in all conditions, the battery life on these phones is about 8-9 hours screen on time browsing etc and more if just watching videos over a couple of days on a single charge.

Some good news guys about a Nougat update for O2's P9... Another 1 week, O2 are finally releasing their own - from Kris_K at the O2 forums: "I've got some good news from our device team, folks! We've now approved the Nougat update for the Huawei P9 and P9 Lite and have sent this back to Huawei for schedule/release - typically this happens within 1-2 weeks, but sometimes sooner/later, so keep your eyes peeled and you'll hopefully have this soon. P9 Plus customers, no new updates to share just yet - we're awaiting the new software to begin testing but once we've more details to share, we'll let you know." On the next page, one says they've got it: "...Update just landed on my device. Updating as we speak...."

all this time later and still no update to the latest android poor show o2

You just reminded me that I've yet to receive my final bill from o2 who said I should get it by end of Feb and still not had anything but that would be my conclusion as well as posted earlier

Went through the process of cancelling the contact, and now in the process of resolving the issue of excessive final bill charge. Getting to the conclusion that the O2 refresh deals are really not worth all the hassles.
