They have their fair share, the rain and the wind make it feel cold, but also bring heat themselves. Continental weather is easier to get used to, but it is pretty miserable in Winter.

Thank you!

Yep some awesome places .. Gdansk is very pretty and some nice craft ale cafes helped a lot ... So did the £6 each way flights on Cryanair .. We paid about £100 each for Friday , Saturday fly home Sunday , good flight times , excellent hotel , breakfast ,the lot ,last November . Was -2 at night but dry and made sitting in the bars and restaurants really warm and cosy . Polish folks were awesome and the place very clean .. Cheap food and drink to boot . Looking at Brno , Bratislava , or anywhere Eastern Europe with cheap flights tbh next

Ah, Ok. Let me try and have a think. Did 2 Nights in Vienna, 3 nights in Brat and 3 nights in Buda. Flew in to Vienna and flew out of Buda. Work out which way round the flights work out the cheapest. Flights were like £60. Train travel wasnt much. Probably about £50 as well I think. I stayed in hostels so the accomodation was about £60. However, this is great deal if you can find someone to share the hotel costs. Vienna was the the most expensive. Buda and Buda are cheap as chips.

Been to Minsk that's was also really interesting, working my way east gradually .... :)

Yeah, I have read before that these deals with groupon are rubbish and can be done cheaper/better by doing the booking yourself.

So booked the holiday: Bought voucher for the 10/12/19 - They had no availability so had to fly 16/12/19 with Ryanair - The flights were going to come in at 11pm, and leave at 6am so paid for a change. - They charged an additional £12 for these amendments - Paid for an upgrade to a 4* hotel, but now sadly realise its next to a very busy road. Probably could have now got the package cheaper just going direct via Expedia etc.

Not specifically related to this deal but is Groupon any good?. The only time I used it was to get a deal on Water Park entry. Only 'up front' info said the voucher was valid for a month ( this was just before Easter Holidays a couple of years back). So I registered, ordered etc and only then would it let you look at availability and it turned out there was no availability at all for the Easter Holidays and only a couple of week days for any other time within the months validity - which was useless as they were school days. I then had to go through the refund process. Absolute waste of time so thought 'never again' - but is it always that bad?.

I've heard that the Christmas markets in Budapest are amazing. I hope you enjoy yourself :)

Couldn't agree more. It's one of the few affordable destinations during school holiday time and barring a few exceptions, there's a great selection of high quality accommodation available, with new ones opening all the time. If local flights were available to Budapest, I'd go there even more. Prices of accommodation have more than doubled over the last 8 years. Back then, even the 5 star hotels were amazingly affordable. The fully integrated public transport system is superb and best served with a travel pass which can be purchased in the airport arrivals hall.

I actually found a really nice AirBnB for the same price! A little closer to the center too and reviewed highly!

This is where I’ve been about 6 times to get my dental implants !😁

Love Budapest, but the Fortuna Boat Hotel reviews on TripAdvisor are far from stunning. There's plenty of reasonably priced better quality accommodation than this to be found, so pay a little more for a better experience unless a Duna view is a red line for you, in which case you'd be struggling to find anything cheaper.

It's on a boat.

It's based on 2 people sharing, so not able to do that, If you adjust to one person price increases to £569, don't forget to factor in min £19 if you want a later flight.

Yeah but still a good deal if you book the flight for the second person seperately.

Not as great as it first appears. It's per person. Flights for example date are only £63 booked independently (late flight return), means effectively that accommodation works out at £472 for 3 nights, if you want to change flight return time for this deal, the cost is from £19 extra pp ( otherwise flight return is morning,). Unless you particularly want The Ritz, then it is a good deal. Those not so fussed can get a very good rated 4 star for a lot less, in fact half term week ****hotel President and Mercury avg £350 INCL breakfast. Flights only slightly more, given its half term, at £79.44

If you book it for one can you pay for the tickets of a second person seperately?

I went In December to Amman from Edinburgh via Krakow and it was about 130 quid with priority. Flew to Krakow on Sunday afternoon then Amman the next day. Then back the following Monday both flights on same day with a few hours layover. Obviously it's a bit risky if there is long delays or cancellations since they aren't connected flights.

Think a little more research needs to be done. A return to Uk would be great via Poland or Bulgaria to complete the trip at the moment it's just one leg of the journey to Jordon

Buy a ticket for that ISIS girl!

What about the return leg or do we just stay in Jordan?

I stayed in a nice hotel in Pest. There's a very lively strip in Pest with cheap drink and food. I never encountered any drug dealers. However I did encounter 3 'ladies', at night. In my naivety I was thinking 'Ooooohhh 3 women talking to me. Result!'. Until 1 said 'You want sexy time?'. 'Wow you Hungarian women are forward.....ooooohhhhh'. Penny drops.

On our last visit we were staying right on Kazinczy Street (next to Bors and only about 5 doors down from Szimpla so right in the heart of things). The closest we came was some English lads in Instant asking me if I knew where to get anything, but that was about 2am in a club. Weird that we didn't see anything else for 2 weeks, I'll be upset if I'm now too old to get offered drugs.

Don't know what part you went to but after 7/8pm it was absolutely littered with them. Every few yards it was "cocaine?". The taxi drivers were also gesturing 'snorting' to me and friends.

Us and all our friends fell in love Pest and can't wait to go back there. We didn't see any drug dealers either (even in the places you'd expect in District VII) but like any city they will be there. My best mate lived in Pest for a few years until last year and he says there's much less of a drugs culture than over here. Taxis are notoriously dodgy in Budapest, like a lot of European cities. Apart from basic overcharging it's been known for people to get their change back in another currency (Indonesian notes or something equally worthless) or get ripped off in other ways. Thankfully there's no real need to use them as the public transport system is absolutely brilliant, and cheap too - buses, trams, metro and trolley bus, it's a really extensive and efficient network.. If you really must get a taxi for some reason then download Taxify and use that - it works in the same way as Uber (except you can either pay by card on your account or in cash) and you won' get ripped off. Tonnes of stuff - tripadvisor will give you more of an idea for the standard sightseeing stuff like St. Stephen's Basilica, Castle Hill etc but for family stuff we loved the Zugligeti Libego Chairlift, the Labyrinth caves, an amazing and unforgettable trip doing 360s and other stunts in a speedboat on the Danube with RedJet, Aquaworld, Margaret Island, thermal pools etc. For adults there is the House of terror, loads of amazing ruin bars and clubs, some great exhibitions, Xmas markets etc. Both the kids and adults loved the Pinball Museum - cheap to get in with absolutely loads of pinball tables and arcade games from the 50s to present day on freeplay.

Wouldn't bother trying still trying to get my money back after they can't honour the advertised deal. 69 per person from London on 10th or 11th. I even let them check for any other day that week and they still can't match it.

Cold! So hopefully my wife doesn't see it!

budapest chrostmas markets are a total rip off, they push all the prices up 5 fold for tourists, food that normally would cost a pound is almost six at the markets. i was there year before last so i'd expect it to be even more now. it was -8 at the coldest when i was there, the homeless people i gave food and blankets too were very ungreatful. we found an english pub that wasn't even remotely english that had happy hour bogof cocktails and £1.30 a litre beer though. shame the city is full of miserabkle faces and most shops and bars full of miserable and rude staff.

I spoke on line, it said £129 per person on 17 Th November, they emailed me a quote for £599 for 2 people. Vote Freezing.

You can easily spend a week in Budapest, and you wouldn’t be able to see 1/10 of the things worth checking out... all the spas, the pubs, street food, the mountains the squares, restaurants, markets, etc. It is best to go from early spring tho, because it is really cold there compared to the UK (also there’s less textile on the gorgeous Hungarian girls 🤫)

Absolutely no way; but maybe it would give you just a little taster. I doubt you would really want to use the Spa either, unless you were going mainly for relaxing, then perhaps you would only want limited sightseeing anyway.

Are 2 days in Budapest enough?

To be honest, I was there last June and found it just as easy to use the ATMs. You get the option of purchasing in Forints and letting your bank convert to GBP before charging your account, or purchasing in GBP with the conversion managed locally, I found the exchange rate to be better when buying in Pounds, but your bank may charge an international transfer fee.

We found it to be a very cheap holiday with teenagers who loved it, but I don't think they would have have enjoyed it particularly at the age of your little ones. There are some fun places like a sweet shop called Sugar I think where the toilets were even decorated in sweet type designs and Margaret Island ( lovely small Island in the middle of the Danube river with colourful water fountains) had some children's activities. They also have the poshest MacDoanlds you have ever seen by the big shopping Centre in a beautiful building. There is a zoo, but then there are a lot in the uk which are better in my opinion. When we went in the summer there is a square are with shallow chlorinated water in it outside the main train station and it was all adults sitting around the it with their feet in it, but did not see any children doing this.

Just the normal up selling with Groupon deals to worry about for Flights hotels etc. We were "pressured" to pay extra for an Iceland trip. If we wanted a hotel anywhere useful and flight times which were practical then we had to buy them there and then on that phone call, not available afterwards. It was the worst case of pressure selling ever. However the whole the trip was still a good deal but no where near the price we paid for the initial voucher. Just be aware really.

Thanks for the advice but we are used to this in the UK, even the politicians do trick us to make us believe that we are in safe hand

For the people going to Budapest, there are some firms in uk that can get you there to have all of your teeth needs at a split of the price than what you pay in UK

Voted hot, because it looks like a great deal, but that's not the case. I cancelled my Groupon vouchers (you have 14 days to do so too for a refund).Below is the quote they gave me when I tried to book. Initially the offer you the most inconvenient flights. If you want to change them, you have to pay an upgrade of £38 per person... even though the flights are not more expensive than the ones offered when I checked on Ryanair's site.Although they advertise it as 4 nights, they expected me to spend one of the nights on a train or bus... when I objected, they offered a flight upgrade for £25pp.

Can’t understand how they’ve explained the dates,it’s ridiculous.

Has anyone used this deal before? Tempting deal....but I am a bit concerned about the flights, airports, timings and transfer. If anybody has any info regarding this. Please share.

I've had my fill of Eastern Europeans and I've only just been to Tescos.
