Hi,

Thanks op, bought one of these yesterday, used code FREE200 and got free next day delivery.

Its now sat on my desk and I am very happy with it. I have moved from a 22inch IPS 1920 X 1080 so obviously quite a difference and a bit of a wow factor.

Menus are a bit of a faff but you soon get the idea.

Overall if you are looking for a decent 27 inch screen then I would certainly consider this if you don't have £600 to spend on a G-sync 120+mhz one.

Unless you have a tin ear the speakers are completely pointless, but having audio does mean they decided to give it a line-in and line-out. Got my pc plugged into displayport, ps4 into the hdmi, then connected the line-out to a line-in on my pc to use my proper pc speakers.Just a heads up though, there have been issues on models with early firmware, using the displayport might be hit and miss at best, depending on your gpu. I had problems briefly with a gtx 970. Couldn't tell you what firmware version this model uses, mind. I got the GW2765HT from Amazon warehouse for £180 with the black friday 20% off.And for those who aren't as tedious and with as much spare time as me, this is probably the best quality 27" 1440p monitor posted so far. Very functional, good refresh rates, fantastic contrast. The colour gamut is very wide. It has 100% sRGB. Very useful colour temperature settings, but pick between using the eye strain settings here or on windows 10 or with flux. With none of the monitor options turned on I found it a bit too bright though. Great stand, full tilt and swivel, although on a small desk you'll wish the stand wasn't so deep so you could push it back further. At this price you can't complain that it's only 60hz. High frame rate high resolution ips panels didn't even exist until the last few years. I'd much rather this than another of those ebay korean monstrosities, the one I used to own broke when the cheap soldering melted and shorted out the circuit board. On a side note, make sure it's set to full range rgb (0-255) in the settings if you want it to look the nicest as a monitor.

"ebay korean monstrosities, the one I used to own broke when the cheap soldering melted and shorted out the circuit board". Agreed. I had the same issue. I had two, one second hand that is still going strong and a brand new that has already has the board replaced then broke again, hence giving up and doing hours of research to now buy this one. Although the Crossovers do are brilliant monitors (well, amazing panels but crappy cheap boards) I have learnt our lesson as getting replacement parts is a nightmare (plus expensive with import taxes). The hubby said I should pop the broken Crossover on ebay this weekend and I may do, as they do have a good following, and there maybe someone out there who can fix it themselves as its too heartbreaking to just bin it. But I am on day 2 now with this monitor and I am very, very impressed.

Scan use all the returned parts and use them for things like overclocking bundles, or barebones. Their testing process for returns isn't very rigorous, so it's hit and miss what you get. I've experienced it myself years ago, and semi-recently I know somebody who had to purchase another GTX 980Ti (back when they were new) because he was without a GPU and scan were taking so long with the return. He couldn't register it with nvidia to return it himself, because it had already been registered elsewhere? It was indeed very strange. But yeah, only good until something goes wrong. Be careful.

I’m not 100% sure? But I would think it will be like the Nextbase Rear View Mirror Dash Cam where the image disappears after a given time?
They strap on so can be removed in seconds for mot.
Also so they can be had for around £11 on eBay. I have one and they are ok, you don’t even notice the screen.
Most of these mirror cams are made for left hand drive cars therefore the right side of the video will be obscured by the original mirror housing.

Fairly sure the MOT requirement is to have 2 mirrors, so if you have both wing mirrors will be fine. Anyway vans etc. don't even have rear view mirrors. Can just take it off for MOT if you're worried about it

Not really. Probably a lot less work changing from a 7th gen to 8th gen as both use BGA1356 sockets than designing a whole new board layout for a 1050 or the like. This way you get 2 years out of one lot of R&D cost.

Sadly with thin and light laptops the days of slot in MXM graphics cards are numbered.

Did you have to iron out the problems yourself or was it some sort of …Did you have to iron out the problems yourself or was it some sort of automatic updates, I only ask as I'm not very technical and wouldn't want to fix the issues myself.

Did all the tweaks myself. There are loads of guides online particularly on the techtablets.com message boards, but ultimately there's not that much to do. You just need to change a few Windows settings. If you can follow basic instructions whether online or through a YouTube video, it's pretty straightforward. Would be a 2min doddle for anyone who knows how to enable/disable stuff in Windows. I

In a nutshell, it's basically:
- disabling the MeiMengMeng.Win.Clients service (or deleting if you're paranoid)
- enabling Windows Updates in Windows 10 Settings
- disabling or deleting the trackpad blocker (not strictly necessary as it doesn't do anything anyway)

None of that is any harder than uninstalling the bloatware that comes on Acers, Dells, HPs etc.

In my case, I additionally installed an SSD, re-seated the WiFi antennae, and removed the magnets from the top of the lid. I did alot of BIOS settings experimentation as well eg. 10W power increase, but none of it is strictly necessary for normal folk.

Trackpad surface only feels rough initially. After several weeks of use, it seems to smooth down after you've been regularly rubbing your fingers across it!

Those corporates avoiding tax is not good I agree but it's not tax …Those corporates avoiding tax is not good I agree but it's not tax evasion, this is. The issue with the touchpad is a well known problem and has been discussed at length on Hotukdeals too. In fact, look what a certain Pickard123 said about the touchpad back in September,"Trackpad pointer movement is okay but the sensitivity for two finger scroll and lower trackpad buttons is very poor. No way of adjusting the trackpad scrolling speed either or setting up scrolling zones on the left/right edge of the trackpad. Trackpad surface is a rough texture which I dislike. You wouldn't really want to use the trackpad for long periods anyway as your hand rests on the bottom edge of the laptop which is bevelled and therefore uncomfortable. I decided to use a mouse instead. "https://www.hotukdeals.com/comments/permalink/31906363You weren't too happy about many aspects of this device, so what's changed since Picard? I trust you're using the same model? It was a bit disingenuous of you to state that I must be using an old model when you had similar problems when you bought the same model. Regards the price, I'll say it again, the normal price is about £194. Plus taxes, delivery charges, the cost of complying with EU safety standards and cost of providing a two year EU warranty I'd say the price creeps up to near £300 RRP.And please don't try and make out this tax evasion is not an issue, the practice is endemic and must be costing fortune, not forgetting that it creates an unfair playing field, making it harder for genuine companies to compete.

The effect is still the same - the UK taxpayer is deprived of £billions in revenue due to tax scamming by those rich corporates. It's on a massive scale as well that dwarfs anything involving this laptop.

Smooth gameplay > graphics. It's hard to tell the difference between 144Hz and 60Hz, but the difference between 30Hz and 60Hz is night and day. Test if for yourself now, set your monitor to 30Hz and see how your mouse "ghosts" around your screen. Good luck playing a competitive shooter that way.

Yes, as someone that started building desktops in the days of the 386, I understand all of this - I don't need to test 30 vs 60 fps.

You've missed my point slightly, in that I'm not saying that 60fps isn't a much more satisfying experience than 30fps, but it wasn't that long ago that running Metro or Crysis at 1900x1200 at max settings above 30fps was a big deal. 60fps was dreamland, unless you make compromises to image quality, as you suggested. That's still the case now, though. A 1050ti could hit 60+FPS in any game available if you drop the settings far enough. Hell, we have a 'Roblox' machine with a HD7850 that could do that, even today.

I contacted them and they said they will honour the price when the stocks come back in (about two weeks from when this deal was posted). Considering the next cheapest usb 3.1 type c monitor is the 27UD88-w at £470, it's worth the wait if you need usb c.

Where can you get that for a similar price to this? I can only find it over £300.
The Dell U2515H is 25" at 1440p for about the same price or less. Similar colour and refresh rate. Just a better buy all round.
Who wants to help me out?
A monitor is the last part on my build and I’m in no rush for one. I’ve been looking this week and I’ve found dozens but I’ve narrowed it down to:
1/ THIS £188 Dell, 24” full hd
2/ the £200 2560x1440p 24” Dell 2418D, or
3/ Iiyama at £115 box.co.uk/G25…tml

Iiyama is cheapest, but I don’t know anywhere I could see one in the flesh. The £200 will probably have better colours, but also I don’t know how my machine would run the 1440p Dell. Probably fine but I keep reading about Windows changing resolutions of things (text, icons) and being smaller. QHD is better, but is it worth £85 more?

wahhhhhhhhh lol

N.B. I have a GTX 1060 6GB and will be using it for occasional light gaming and file management (organising hd photos and videos) as well as office based spreadsheet work.

Thanks in advance!
Great service from dell. Delivered next day and that was standard free delivery. Not opened yet. Thanks again for posting

Can anyone please confirm if It's 100% sRGB ?

It is.
I ordered it and have played around with it a little bit. So far I like it. No dead pixels, and 4K and HD movies look good. Windows 10 defaults to 150% scaling which is perfect for me - it more or less matches the 27" WQHD monitor I've moved from. Speakers are ok for what they are. In terms of what others say about the size, it's nice. It's actually usable at native resolution, but only just. It's much better with the 150% scaling. Overall so far I'm pleased with this purchase. Minor niggle would be a desktop OSD application for it, but otherwise it looks great
Anyone can comment on the display quality vs the LG 27UD59p which seems the most obvious alternative at 289.99 at the moment

Interestingly it's also called QHD, which defines HD as 360p. Which makes 4k Octuple HD? Very easy to follow.Personally I prefer using the height instead of width, the width doesn't tell you anything about the aspect ratio: 1920 could mean 1920x1080 or 1920x1200, but 1080p makes it clear. The p is supposed to just mean progressive scan, but these days it also tends to mean 16:9.Heat for the deal, it's a pretty good panel, provided you aren't in an image editing career. I have a slightly better BenQ 27" 1440p monitor that was £180 when Amazon Warehouse had everything 20% off.

"k" means thousand. QHD doesn't define HD as 360p. HD is 720p - you can fit four 720p screens into a QHD screen...Quad HD.

I just put three of these in for a client.

Very nice picture. I can't speak to its accuracy, but it just looks gorgeous.

The upside-down halo-style circular desk stand, with the top two-thirds of the screen being really slim, looks really stylish on the desks.

It's also the first time a client has asked me to turn DOWN the brightness. These things could sear colour into your eyeballs, even in a very well lit office.

The controls are a bit clumsy, but you'll only use them once to set the monitor up so that's not really an issue.

The speakers aren't going to get the office raving to DnB or anything, but for basic office productivity they're passable.

Unfortunately, as said above, no VESA mount. A deal breaker that'll stop be getting any more, I think as most of my other clients use VESA desk mounts.
