Part of Amazon’s wider Kindle range, the Kindle Fire is an advanced e-reader and basic tablet. It is packed with features including free cloud storage, Wi-Fi connectivity, and up to eleven hours of battery life per charge. Shoppers can find out about offers on the tablet first, by browsing the HotUKDeals Kindle Fire page.

My younger children had the 8" which I quite liked, are these worth it at £120 prime day deal for older children as well? Or are there other tablets which have better functionali… Read more

Get the Samsung Tab A7 instead, its a much better tablet and it isnt filled with Amazon bloatware. Currently ranging from £120-160 depending where you buy it from but be quick. I bought my son a Fire HD 10 and it was ok until it got broken (my fault) so i bought him a Tab A7 and everything about it is superior. Faster, better screen, better speakers, better battery life (in our case anyway) and virtually no bloatware.

Downloading Google play is really easy

I think at that age you might be better of buying an android tablet with access to Google play store as this won't have access to it, although I believe you can side load the Google play store. At 8 kids will probably want to download games that are not available on amazon

Is it wroth putting the extra money and getting the plus version over the standard one?
deleted2686495

The same as virtually every other company then.

118luke

Tried it, works for a few weeks, then come the typical android/amazon OS updates and it reverts back to the amazon bloatware.

Is there a quick cheap way to get this fixed, it no longer charges due to kids pulling charger out. Thanks
118luke

Same happened to mine + a cracked screen. In the end, it wasn't worth fixing - you could buy a second hand fire tablet for the same price as a new screen and a micro USB port. Ended up selling it on ebay for £20 as spares/repair.

Next one fit magnetic charging adapters in the hope that they will be saved from damage.

If its a kids fire tablet they should swap if it's less than 2 years. If it's a normal one they might give you a discount of a new one. Otherwise probably awkward to find replacement part. Only thing is find another without a broken charge port and try take it out and swap it. But bare in mind the time and effort and chances of it working are probably quite low.

Not sure if it’s a wild goose chase but just picked up 2 kindle fire 7 from Sainsbury’s for 12.50 each instead of £50.

But that's not OPs fault, it's not like he's getting paid for the heat or that it makes him the coolest cat on the block with the ladies. He saw a deal and he posted it. Not for him to know it's not nationwide and every chance other stores could have one. To be honest think it's unfair this got moved out to discussions rather than left as a deal. What's far more annoying is the amount of utter rubbish deals put on by the PAID pepper experts that get voted hot by the sleeping sheep army. So many of those deals clog up the site and take attention away from the genuine good deals.

Ridiculous heat for one person finding a single store, limited number clearance. HUKD never fails :)

I have put Whatsapp on a tablet. You just have to have a telephone number you are not using for Whatsapp on another device. Did this for the Mother Inlaw ,as her phone isn't a smart one she couldn't use Whatsapp on it but could use to get the verification code from them. All works fine and having a larger screen than on the phone is an advantage if your eyesight isn't as good as it was.

To be honest it really depends how much you will be using it. I literally only use mine while travelling, not caring much about the device if I lose it, smash it or gets stolen etc. My usage during those times is for films/series, reading or Audible. It isn't the fasted device, often frustrating and that's only me navigating to something already downloaded inside an app. I actually like the Amazon GUI as it'll show everything quickly I've downloaded from within the Amazon Ecosystem. Screen quality wise, well again not the best but lets remember the price point, "it'll do", I've seen alot worse from unbranded devices. Sound wise to be fair I've only used with earphones and it's fine though that depends more on the ear/headphones. While on holiday, would I pick it up to look up something on the internet, no way I'd use my phone. Again back to the price, you can throw it around, drop it, fall asleep watching something and not worry if it hits the ground. Battery life is fine, though charging times is not the quickest. To sum it up, don't be comparing this against a £100 tablet. If I wanted something for slightly more I'd go for the HD 8 at least. BTW, it may have changed, been a year since I used mine, but you had to sideload Youtube and the app wasn't the most responsive.

Wolfout

If you do buy one, remember topcashback as you will get 2.12% every penny counts right

Wolfout

It’s alright, you can always connect to a external speaker if you find it’s not enough or to the quality you want

Wolfout

YouTube will be fine but you can’t use what’s app on it as it isn’t a mobile so doesn’t have a number
