Yep! Big regret on my side lol. Woefully slow sometimes. I only use it for a smart panel in house for monitoring so it’s just displaying a web page basically, with only that kiosk browser running and it’s a slug. I’m gonna donate it to granny for reading.

The HD 8 seems unbelievably cheap, is it rubbish or something?

Some of these deals are available right now if you order through Alexa: Fire TV Cube | Hands free with Alexa, 4K Ultra HD streaming media player Only £59.99 when you order with Alexa. Just say, “Alexa, order a Fire TV Cube.“Restrictions apply. Terms & Conditions

Same here, the only slow down I've seen is on the gen 1 / 2 when I was at the edge of wireless range. I've never had any issues with the 4k stick even with the new software. I do leave mine on permanently so never really see it boot up either and it handles updates when I'm not using it.

I have a different opinion on this. I have been using 4k firestick for several years and have had very good experience. I have never encountered any problems with the wireless Internet and I would advice people to purchase it if the price drops below £30 as suggested.

Terrible screen as well ... avoid. I bought one tor the Show functionality but every few days it would stop working. I sold it now and bought an echo show device, works perfectly

Hardly enough for what? What exactly do you need to do on something like this that 2GB can't manage?

Agree, unless you need a 10 inch screen, phones can be a better spec alternative for similar money. 2GB RAM is hardly enough nowadays

I bought this two months ago. I know - this is something like £70-£90 device, but it is really slow sometimes. I believe that Xiaomi smartphones are 3 times quicker for a bit more £££. I know that I should not compare those two things but there is a visible difference. Anyway, for a kid is alright 👌

I have the 2017 HD10 model and have just loved it. Side loaded Google onto it and it's been perfect. Paid full price for it at the time, but honestly it's been flawless. Waiting for the 27/5 to see how much the new HD 10 is going to be. It's available pre order in the US at $149.99 so will be interesting to see how much it is going to be in rip-off Britain

before i got one a couple of weeks ago i always saw people saying this, but in reality i found it to be perfectly fine on both fronts

It is great value, but I'll disagree this model runs really smooth - certainly faster than my older HD 10 model - and the screen is fine for the price. I'm hoping the 3GB memory helps its longevity. It's far far better than the junk old 7 inch models Amazon had sold.

turn off alexa and it wil be twice as fast

Tempting price, but the thing is these are slow and the screen isn't great. You get what you pay for. For the price theres no denying the value here.

£89 now :(

I find the simplest method is to install Fire Toolbox on a PC and follow a guide using that. Doddle.

You can, I’ve done it with mine. Use it for a baby monitor with a WiFi camera. App was only available through the play store and works great.

Any good for my 5 yr old lad? It will be used for playing games. I'm sure I've read you can get Google play store on there?

Yeah, not likely. These aren't being replaced. They alternate between the 8 and 10 inch models
