I’ve had this for a few years now, does the job well and I can store it away easily as it’s only small which I like. Agree it does time out quickly in comparison to others but its not much of a problem for me as I find it times out after I’ve finished. Great deal. (y)
(cheeky) I think it is. Which is why I've shared it. :) Thanks @kobrakaan1
is this for a good deal?
Thanks for the feedback and link. :) Appreciated.
I still use a really cheap Chinese one off eBay I got whilst I was at university many years ago. As bonus it uses standard AAA batteries. The word "unit" on mine is misspelt "uint" but I don't care for the price! I actually prefer it over a more expensive Salter set I have as the buttons work better. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1G-5KG-LCD-DIGITAL-KITCHEN-SCALES-ELECTRONIC-COOKING-FOOD-MEASURING-SCALE-WEIGH-/174812322968?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
Pretty good (and good-looking) kitchen scale with an unusually large weight capacity. When I got mine a few months back the price was similarly unstable - I paid £8 something, and next day it was over £20. Worth more than a tenner.
It’s gone up even more to £7.67 still a bargain these normally go for £26 and don’t go down in price very often I just bought it
Wont let me buy for £5.61, price jumps to £6.18 in basket?

I stand corrected but not by your argument unfortunately! What you have quoted for precision is actually resolution in a scale or in a digital scale such as this, the least significant digit (lsd). Actually precision is repeatbiity/reproduceability of a measurement, that has nothing to do with the resolution. https://blog.minitab.com/en/real-world-quality-improvement/accuracy-vs-precision-whats-the-difference
Main thing we all wanna know is can it measure 1/8th etc...
Fingers crossed, no one will be throwing these away. A new battery is probably a matter of a few pounds. Replacing a lithium ion battery isn't that hard and might actually be easy in this (I doubt everything is squeezed in that compactly). Worst case scenario is desoldering two tabs and soldering the new batt. Once you've got the kit and skills for changing a battery you're free to change it in many household things: electric toothbrush, solar lights, power banks etc
Will this weigh spuds?

My thoughts exactly! Best price I've found so far. Think some of the reviews are rather dramatic! I have to agree with you on that!!
Excellent price for a 1g sensitivity scale. (Accuracy is a different matter!) Regarding those reviews 1/ there are a lot of strange people in the world 2/ the packaging protection may be marginal 3/ if it won't initialise correctly, just take it back for a refund (don't "bin it") 4/ there are a LOT of strange people in the world...
Mixed reviews have put me off buying.

£14.35 now. Purchased one. I like the idea of the hold feature and the 15kg limit.
Two things - any scale should be tapped before final measurement (like a barometer!) You need the moving parts to settle in their 'mid' position, not stuck because a small addition isn't enough to overcome whatever friction in the mechanism. And if you really want to measure small things, you need an appropriate scale. Trying to measure 5g of salt on a 15kg range mechanism is frankly... optimistic. Even if the scale measured it perfectly there would be 20% variation (between 4.5 and 5.5g showing as "5"), so this item is a poor choice for that job. So-called "pocket scales" can be found very cheaply on eBay, and even if you only believe the first decimal place of grams (they show hundredths of a gram...) you have upped the precision by 10x - and for salt in bread, or curing salt for meat, that does matter. This thing should be great for eBay parcel postage...
For weighing rock cakes and my scones 😁
Nice price - but it seems that scale is not suited to small masses (<10g). Heat for the price

Yeah, It’s been great for baking in large quantities and for meal prepping. Just checked and I’ve got IKEA Alkalisks in there, so must have changed the batteries once, but would have been years ago, and I use it on average at least once a day.
I've had the 5kg x1g version of this for several years, and it gets through batteries rather fast. I'm running low self-discharge NiMH so its not too bad, but I'm sure the LCD scales' batteries would last much longer than this LED one. 10kg x1g is unusual, and would have been very useful a few times when sending out a parcel! The high maximum allows more flexibility when using heavy bowls, etc...
I’ve had this for over 5 years, and it’s been great. Not replaced the battery once. It turns off automatically after a while, which is handy. Easy to zero and does ml etc which is great for a gestimate on most liquids.
10KG is quite heavy, I'd prefer some lighter scales for kitchen use. *edit* I bought the 6KG Salter Evo scales back in May 2020 for £14.99. They don't feel like 6KG, but I don't have anything else to weigh them on... ...i'll get my coat and close the door on the way out.
When buying these - look out for battery types. Some use watch-style flat batteries that are often cheaper, but some use normal AAA batteries that are way easier to find and replace. Worthing paying a few pennies more for the convenience.

I purchased these a few months ago from amazon from this exact same link, and received generic scales, not Salter scales. The seller kept trying to say they work really well even if they’re not Salter. Took a while but I received a full refund and got to keep the fake scales. Just something to think about (y)
Decent scale. Proper buttons, rather than the useless "touch sensitive" surface that I had on my previous scale.
