Kenwood kMix Stand Mixer in Cream KMX750AC £219.99 @ Costco

Seems like a good deal. This is the one with the metal bowl so hopefully should be less prone to problems (i.e. the bowl attachment mechanism failing).

Ye I’ve decided on the XL. Costco have no stock. I went to Costco store today and they don’t sell it. I don’t fancy the white one from amazon

Thanks O.P! I've got an old smaller chef model which I'll replace with this. For those asking about KA artisan comparison, I just returned one as it was poor at mixing bread dough. They look great but I'm not sure KA are as good as they used to be. Mind you for cake batter it was great.

You can get a Kenwood food processor attachment that goes on the top outlet on your Chef XL. It comes with various blades too. :)

I think you should get the XL. I have a chef XL, use it perhaps once a week and love being able to work with bigger batches which is what I normally do. I already have a Kenwood food processor on the verge of dying. Once that happens, I’ll be able to use blender and mini chopper with my XL. I always prefer going for a size bigger for small kitchen appliances considering it to be a one off purchase and not something I’ll want to upgrade in 2 years time.

Anyone know what Costco delivery times are like? I need this by Thursday ideally

I didn't, I got a professional mixer instead. You shouldn't use the spiral hook on the artisan. There is a company Inthe Netherlands that makes a cheaper one too but like I mentioned it's not good for your artisan. The J hook puts the weight and pressure to the side of the bowl and the screw pushes it down which isn't good for the artisan mixers motor......all cost saving. Might work for a while but you'll burn out the motor or more likely strip the cogs in a year.

Where from did you get the professional dough hook that fits the Artisan? I found a German company that makes one and sell it for around 100 euros which is an absolute rip off imo.

The KW KMX750RD has a metal bowl, currently £250 with a voucher code that was posted on hduk not long ago.

Get the KA with a Metal bowl. Its really solid and reliable. If you need any proof look at Bake Off. They switched to Kenwoods then back to Kitchen Aid!

So the KMix is going to be better than pretty much any kitchenaid IMO, they're just better built and more powerful. That being said even the Kmix is an occasional/hobby baker tool mostly for cakes etc, if you want something that is bomb proof and will handle sitting on a shelf from a decade from baking several times a day grab a chef. Similarly if you want to do other things that need a mixer i.e. make pasta, mincing etc then get the Chef. We replaced my Mum's Chef with a Kmix when they moved house to fit with the decor, she readily admits she likes the look, but if she was still baking for a big family it would have driven her up the wall. As far as I'm aware the Chef it replaced was a decade older than me and is still working in its new home.

Kmix beater is a must have attachment for these. Don’t know why its not included with the machine.

Artisan over rated!

This comes with a proper dough hook over the KitchenAid artisan which has switched to the J style hook. If I wasn't able to replace my artisan with my mother's old professional, which also comes with a spiral style of hook, I would have sold it for this in a heartbeat. Depending on what type of dough you're making the J hook is a huuuuge piece of (poo) . It you need to do high hydration dough or a large amount of dough at the machines capacity, the dough just rides up the hook all the way and gets in the mechanism. Zero issues at all when I switched the older spiral style. This is just cost cutting at its finest from KitchenAid, the new professionals still come with the proper spiral style hook. Also you cannot just replace a j hook with the spiral (even though it fits). The J hook puts the pressure from the dough around the side of the bowl and the screw puts that pressure towards the base. The newer artisan models are known to strip cogs/burn out the motor when using a spiral hook as they weren't intended for the motion/spiral hook.....

My wife loves her KMix prefers the SS bowl like here rather than glass. Hasn’t missed a beat in 5 years uses 2-3 times a week. What more would you want. Heat (y)

Kenwood kMix Stand Mixer for Baking, Stylish Kitchen Mixer with K-beater, Dough Hook and Whisk, 5 Litre Glass Bowl, Removable Splash Guard, 1000 W, Red

Steel is incredibly durable. I see no reason why they ever feel the need to include glass bowls with a stand mixer unless it’s purely for aesthetics. Mine is obviously an older one as it came with a steel bowl but the whole unit and build quality feels incredibly industrial and solid as a rock.

Been looking at these myself-and the prices for the glass bowl version always seem a lot cheaper than the steel bowl equivalent-but maybe for a reason? Anyway Amazon are selling this for £239 and the steel bowl version over £400-i just had a quick look on ebay for a replacement steel bowl and at around £65 you'd be better off buying the glass version and a replacement steel bowl separately and it still works out cheaper than just the steel bowl version.

It sounds like it's the bowl rather than the product as a whole. My experience indicates that it is not a bad product as such. I can't comment on after-sales as I haven't had to use it, but I would definitely buy another KMIX based on my own experience. I suspect they went with a glass bowl because it looks cute, but I can see no advantage to that design so it seems a shame they went down that route.

Every company puts out a duff product sometimes. This one has glaringly bad bowl design. But back it up with awful after service. The second unit was returned today and it's worse than when it went away.

Fair enough...never had such issues

A good deal cheaper than I've seen elsewhere. Seems pretty decent - few attachments and a glass bowl.

These are going for around £400 just now - when you can actually find one in stock. £420 on Kenwood's own website, and they don't even have any stock so, yes, this is currently a good deal. Someone buying one in a sale 4 months ago doesn't really change that, does it?

Great machine but a very inflated price.

This seems very expensive, I expect inflated by lock-down demand. Unless desparate for one right now, I'd be inclined to wait until things ease more.

This was £140 just before lockdown and I purchased it for £114 from amazon warehouse and came was new damaged box.

I posted this before when it was far cheaper than this. Was apparently the same price for ages. This isn't a deal

KENWOOD kMix KMX760YG Kitchen Machine - Gold £249 @ Currys PC World
Looks like a decent price for the mixer. RRP £549

Can't believe I missed out on this one 😩😩😩

The top part of each attachment that goes into the machine, is on a thread. So you undo the nut on each attachment with the spanner provided with the machine, adjust the “height” of the attachment by rotating the thread, and then re-do the nut up. To get them all set-up I put a small amount of water in the bottom of the bowl, and adjusted each attachment so that it successfully moved the water around. This was particularly important for the whisk attachment, which I set-up to be in contact with the bottom of the bowl. It’s all in the manual.

The tools have adjustments? How exactly?

All of the tools need to be adjusted before first use, so that they have the correct reach into the bowl. You just use the spanner provided to adjust each tool. Had no problems making 2-egg meringues in my machine, once the whisk attachment had been adjusted.

The Kenwood Kmix range has always been relatively expensive, as with most proper mixers. My mum has had her Kenwood mixer for over 30 years.

I got one for £90 a few years ago... though the one with the glass bowl, why are these expensive now? I always found it useless, I much preferred using my old Panasonic Bread Maker for kneading instead, then baking in the oven.

I paid £188 for this in John Lewis, they accidentally priced it down incorrectly; priced it as a clearance but had it as the normal one not the gold. Great but if kit and actually a great price. Heat from me

My KMix broke after 3 years of very occasional use. I'd never have another and would go Kitchen Aid. I did notice they only used the KMix for one season on Bake Off and then went back to Kitchen Aid. Often wondered why.

I agree. My 300W KitchenAid handles anything you throw at it. I've heard the Kenwoods are also fantastic. Hot deal.

Its a bit like the old 3000W vacuums that had no suction just because they have more power it doesn't make them better. KitchenAids have 300W and are regarded as some of the best around by those in the know.

Can read online reviews on Amazon etc but lots of faults reported with the ring stand for the glass bowl breaking after few uses

Hi, What kind of problems are you talking about? I’m thinking about getting one and glass bowl is one of the reasons (I don’t like the steel one) to buy this model. Thanks

Theres a lot of customers complaining about the ring that holds the bowl in place cracking. I would read the reviews before making a decision (flirt)

Been this price for ages, I ordered one a few weeks ago. Think ao have it for the same price as well.

Buy the stainless bowl. Heat

I bought one of these last week from another retailer. Looks great and feels very solid, however after only one use the bowl got stuck on the base of the mixer and wouldn't release, just as someone else has already mentioned. Kenwood won't accept that this is a design flaw with the machine.

It absolutely does, but they haven't fixed the issue so all they'll do is send you another one with exactly the same bracket that will likely break just as quick. We only used ours a few times before it broke, if you check the Amazon reviews there's a whole host of other people who experienced the same thing.

You can buy a stainless steel bowl for it, not sure I'd want to at the £65 RRP though...

If you are a intermediate level baker and make recipes using Swiss meringue buttercream, I’d suggest going for a mixer with a metal rather than a glass bowl. The metal helps the buttercream mix to cool quicker (a nightmare to make in a glass bowl!)

How does this compare with the Kenwood stand mixer which I recently bought from Costco for £290

Do you have the link for this one? I can’t find it sorry

I became a fashion victim and bought a Kitchen Aid, and really wish I'd got one of these instead. The Kitchen Aid can only go so far in terms of kneading dough (well known fault), and then you have to finish by hand. My sister has a Kenwood, and kneads the heaviest dough without issue. So if deciding between the two, save dough (ta-dah!) and get this, especially at this price.
