Cheers. Will stock up before deal expiry in June.

I think this is the Kohinoor gold looking at the packaging.

Don't know wat to do, no stock near me, 2 weeks back same deal was posted and I ordered twice but asda cancelled at last minute

I prefer black minesota rice

Hot, I’d buy a few bags and keep them as rice gets better with age

Kohinoor Rice 10kg - £10 instore @ Tesco (Liverpool)
LocalLocalFound 25th Sep 2017Found 25th Sep 2017
Real bargain. 5kg £9.50 and 10kg £10 today at Tesco Liverpool. Also not to forget that's the best Basmati I ever tried, take it from a brown man, we know about rice (lol)
Get dealGet deal

kohinoor tried both but now sticking up with kohinoor, tilda is no different

5kg bag of this in our local Co-op is £5.50.

tilda looks clean to me and boiling will kill anything anyway. I used correct water it must have been a bad batch maybe

You probably had too much water, I've tried them both. But definitely any rice you need to wash. Cuz the production method isn't that hygiene.

Uncle Bens LOL. Last time I had kohinoor gold XL it was really starchy and poor quality after previously being a fan of it. I'm on tilda at the moment and get consistent results, doesn't even need washing

Thanks OP....need to stock up for Eid 👌

Rice tastes delicious but is very unhealthy. It is full of carbohydrates and convert s into sugar inside body . White polished rice has no fibre . I started eating quinoa instead of rice as it has much higher fibre and and protein content. Other good rice is canadian wild rice but it is too expensive in the UK.

Good price for a quality brand

Who needs this much rice ??

I saw brown and white Eastend basmati rice £ 1 for 1kg in Home Bargains. Who needs to buy 10 kg in one go and invite rats and mice when you can buy in smaller quantities at same price

Shops have been selling plastic food for years. Dont know why people are complaining all of a sudden

So many hoax out there.. especially saying the blue version is plastic. I had kohinoor gold, silver and blue version and can confirm theyre real :) Big fan of kohinoor since tilda is way too expensive. Its a good purchase

Plastic rice bounces. Once cooked, press into a ball. If it bounces it is plastic. If it splatters, so to say, it's normal. Only eat brown rice anyway.

How does this compare to Tilda Grand Basmati?

OP - thanks for posting. Kohinoor and Tilda are top Indian brands for basmati rice. Would not expect plastic rice from them ! Try the one below which I believe is equally good if not better. https://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=266030234

Brown basmati rice tastes yummy as well. Does not give diabetes as high glycemic carbohydrate like white bread and has more fiber.

he's right though

Dude .... it's all about the deal man and basmati rice tastes yummyyyyyy :p

Negative invitation to rats, buying rice in large quantity. Plus white rice is not healthy. If it was brown rice or wild rice, I would have voted hot

Heat added. A good price for basmati. If you're not too fussed about the quality of the rice if it's to be mixed with other things Morrisons offering broken basmati @ 50p/kg. Not as good as this post granted but less than half this price if finances are tight. https://groceries.morrisons.com/webshop/product/Laila-Broken-Basmati-Rice/309374011?sku=309374011&parentContainer=&voucherCode=&dnr=yhi

Latest bag OG kohinoor gold xl basmati I bought is quite poor quality it is very starchy and turns out sticky, it's nothing to do with the way I prepare/cook it, I know for a fact that the quality is not what it used to be.v Tilda next time for me.

It's the same with wine ;-) red wine is good for you....

come on guys, everyone knows you shouldn't eat rice, bread or milk regardless of its colour. you really should be living purely on organic particles from the air

"White basmati rice from California, India, and Pakistan, and sushi rice from the U.S. on average has half of the inorganic-arsenic amount of most other types of rice." "All types of rice (other than sushi rice) with a label indicating that it’s from Arkansas, Louisiana, or Texas or just from the U.S. had the highest levels of inorganic arsenic in our tests" "Brown rice has 80 percent more inorganic arsenic on average than white rice but has extra nutrients.... Brown basmati from California, India, or Pakistan is the best choice; it has about a third less inorganic arsenic than other brown rices" SOURCE: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine/2012/11/arsenic-in-your-food/index.htm http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine/2015/01/how-much-arsenic-is-in-your-rice/index.htm

Is there any rice field in the UK or in the EU? The rice grown in other Asian tropical countries will not be any better then the one grown in India or Pakistan.

Does it matter rice is rice you don't need to taste it. It's the curry that's matters with the right masala and aroma

There is no extra-long version in Pure Basmati.

Heat added - best rice out there (hybrid or not!). Long fluffy grains every time!

Are sure this is the hybrid version as all the info states Silver is the hybrid version?

I usually do it by brand and/or by reading the full description printed on the rice bag (Front and back). And if you are a country who consume basmati rice to a greater extent you will know it (i am not from a place where basmati is a staple rice).
