Bought one of these, thankfully not at this price, I really liked it, it was excellent size and weight considering screen size, excellent display, but I'm a bit of a sad geek as far as the camera is concerned and to be frank even though according to many it's the best phone camera ever in my opinion it's actually not that good, at the time i had a Moto G 3rd gen with 13mp camera, (obviously no laser focus, cheapo phone etc) but the photo quality/detail of photos was far superior to the LG G3.

good, I love my G2 just it's getting on now
on certain serial number g4 there was a bootloop problem, g5 has the GPS problem, both fixed if returned
I would buy a G4, but comments on here put me off.
Many on here say there's problems with the G4? or pay more for a G5?

im waiting on a "good" one to arrive so that dose not sound promising.
I bought one of the "very good" ones but am returning it as it looked "not very good" and well used. Not a very accurate description from Amazon this time
I have bought an LG G3 second hand off Amazon (3rd Party) & I'm now worried if it is genuine (sold as a D855 European). Does anyone know;

What the software info should say for Lollipop?

Whether it should OTA update to Marshmallow?

Thanks in advance (I am very worried)!

Did you try a factory data reset with holding down the buttons?

If you power off the phone then hold down the power button and volume down and keep them depressed until you get the LG logo on screen, quickly let go of those buttons then depress and hold the power button and volume down again for a couple of seconds you will get the factory data reset screen and do a wipe from that.

Also if you can get out of the boot loop I would check in settings to see if you have the IMEI or if they have made the same error with shoddy rom programming that they did with my phone.

I am exactly the same, especially when you will be stuck with it for the next two years, my son has the LG G4, so we have the full set! But the screen size is the same as the G3 and you get used to it, although it uses more battery.

I have had the LG G2 for 18 months and it has been excellent, and just got the LG G3 deal for my wife, I like the better battery life of the Samsung, but I also would consider that the LG G3 was their flagship phone last year, whereas the Samsung is classed as a mid range phone, but it is a difficult decision to make as it ties you into a two year contract.

I finally did get the backlit keyboard, just fitted it, works a treat. Went for this one here on ebay:
ebay.co.uk/itm…072

Key layout is identical to the standard keyboard, with the addition that you control the backlight via fn-f3, cycles through high, low and off.

Pretty simple to install - four screws, one to remove the ssd/wireless cover plate, then three keyboard screws. Only fiddly bit was folding the ribbon cables over, but these are marked so pretty hard to get wrong.

Delivery took just over a week. At just under £20 it's the most no-brainer upgrade going for anyone that uses their laptop in a darkened room.
Haven't taken the plunge yet, no!
@ruklaw Did you install the backlit keyboard?

Thanks OP

I would be interested in learning about the backlit keyboard mod. Please … I would be interested in learning about the backlit keyboard mod. Please set up a tutorial when you've done it.

Well, it's not so much a mod as just buying the correct HP part - the laptop already has the connections and capability to use a backlit keyboard, it just doesn't have one as standard.

Unfortunately the UK layout backlit keyboard doesn't seem to be available from HP (possibly because they aren't selling it with backlit keyboard in the UK market) but there is a suggestion that if you contact an HP part reseller they might be able to obtain it.

Looking at the official channels:
parts.hp.com/hpp…029

You can see there that you can buy a backlit keyboard for the probook with the German, Czeck/Slovak or Denmark/Finland/Norway keyboard layout - but it does cost you about £60

Perhaps worth a punt is this one on ebay for £27:

I do not want to disagree.

I think even without the £50 cashback, it still works out cheaper than a budget consumer laptop at £300.

Do you agree?

this is a second hand phone with proven life expectancy issues. Buy at your peril is all im saying. Like anything, weigh up the opinions and decide for yourself. Mine was hugely negative, it gets VERY hot when charging with sat nav or playing games, guess this is part of the problem that eventually kills it.

great phone which I'm still using now. I've added heat because that's a fair price for a great phone but if I were buying now I'd pay a little more to get the g4 which I've seen on hukd for around 220? just so you're a little more future proofed. my g3 gets a little laggy sometimes but I do run a lot of things on it. my next upgrade will be the g5 or the Sony z5.

Crap phone. Send mine back to LG three times eventually got a refund.
The G Flex 2 can be had for the same money. Why have an SD801 when you can have the SD810? (Overheating now fixed.) If you prefer LCD and hate OLED however, you can't go too far wrong here......

I got slaughtered when I put a G3 deal up for £200 recently. This deal will get very very cold.

dual sim? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

As long as you get the D858 derivative, although LG's website would suggest only one 4g sim is supported and there's no band 20 LTE.

Please provide a link, £130 would be an amazing deal for the LG G3.

It is possible you are comparing to the LG G3s which is a lower specced phone.

Although to be fair I wouldn't have thought you'd have got anywhere near that with a Note 2 either so what do I know.

The Phones used in between jobs, Id say about 3-4 hours as a Sat Nav during working hours, and the Note 2 battery is really that good, that's why I've never upgraded in all these years lol, also the key to having so long a battery life is easy, don't use task killer apps, and have a pure black background if you have an Amoled screen, and once finished with an app always bring up task manager and close the app, works for me and has done for years.

Surely though, you would have a car charger if you're using any phone for extended periods of time as a satnav? I'm a cabbie and if I used my phone as a satnav just running on the battery I'd probably have no charge left by the time I needed to use it outside of the car in an airport!

Avoid eXpansys at any cost. Their prices are no cheaper than other places, but their after care service is zero. If the device has any fault you are on your own. Avoid eXpansys and pay a few pounds more.

Mine has just arrived. Very pleased after all of the updates have gone through. Hopefully the honeymoon lasts! It's lovely looking too - I thought it was going to be weird with the curve.

If you haven't bitten on this, the LG G4 is now at £235 instore with Vodafone. Both cracking phones with the G4 also a bargain at that price.

Just got the X Play which I quickly had a look at before it was confiscated for Xmas. Looks to be barely bigger than my Moto G second gen.
