surely at under £70 delivered this is silly money?
polarbaba

They're £80 quid right now, that's insane, can't imagine getting this type of phone for this price!.

Envythenv

Anyone received theirs?

*Ade*

from their website .... “If the problem is covered by the warranty, our technicians will attempt to fix the issue and return your item to a fully working condition. If we are unable to fix the issue, we will supply a replacement item of the same description. Your fixed or replacement item will be sent back to you within 2-3 working days of receiving the damaged item and will be sent by our chosen courier provider. In the event that we’re not able to fulfil either a replacement or repair, a refund will be processed.”

trickbaby

Fingers crossed it's in decent condition and doesn't suffer from software issues like these sometimes tend to do (though at this price you really can't complain either way). MM's warranty will definitely be useful - in case of faults I wonder if they tend to replace the phone with a like-for-like or just process a refund..

*Ade*

Bargain price, highly-underrated phone, probably because LG have been known for the bootloop issue and people never let them live it down, also a weak SoC for a flagship at the time. At £100 can let them off. Has it just gone up to £149.99 for a good handset on EE?

Wotan

How easy are they to unlock?

Great little allrounder phone.

Lloydinio

Well, technically the G6 has better hardware, and the wide angle camera is very useful, but main camera would be a downgrade from the S7 edge. I love my G6, but I'd go for a better upgrade.

Jordanb1234

Really tempted on this to replace my current phone (razer phone v1) always wanted a note but couldn't get one at the time of my upgrade with the whole exploding in your pocket problems haha. Is this sim free to put my three sim in? Someone either justify this purchase or tell me to stop spending money xD gf has a note 9 and she loves it.... And I could sell this phone I suppose :/

xavierluther

Yes there are plenty of great upgrade options, because smartphone tech really took off in 2017 (only S7/Edge & Pixel/XL 1st gen real 2016 standouts so good still going strong in 2019) But best value for money = new battery if you own one of those four models

alcurtis93

Tempted to just repair the battery on my s7 edge like you suggest. It is still a perfectly great phone and it means I can wait a while for phones to progress a bit more. I don't think there's much of an upgrade out there yet

And the resulting on the wide angle has been increased too

JkF50

Yep, it's fantastic.

xavier.jones

May buy as I've dropped my G5 and all the replacement screens for a decent price will be subpar clones. The superwide on the G5 was really useful on holidays it was wider than than my Sony A6000 with a 10mm lens on. Does the G6 still have ultrawide?

polarbaba

The bootloop was g4 specific. The other LG phones have other different shenanigans!.

haggisheid

Yes it was, I have G5 and so does my son and never had this problem, and I don't think there are any issues with the G6, the boot issue was due to the processor getting too hot and not being soldered properly with bad quality control, this appears to have been fixed.

I agree with your comments, I had an lg G2 which served me well, and then an LG g5 which I still have with no problems, but my wife got a moto G6 plus a few months back which leaves my phone in its tracks and although it doesn't have image stabilization, it still takes great photos, I was an LG fan, but they have lagged behind other phone companies in innovation and being competitive.

xavierluther

Yep, LG has to come from behind now. Basically smartphones got so good in last 2 years that design/performance flaws no longer tolerated, like you say no more compromises, even in mid-range great all rounders now

plewis00

I don’t doubt I’d be happy with it if I had one but if I was buying now this would need to be £120-130 to tempt me in the slightest. Releasing an SD821 (OC’ed 820) powered phone as a flagship in 2017 was madness. LG have a track record for disappointing phones so they should only compete on price IMO. We are so spoiled for choice with phones now, you rarely need to compromise any more

xavierluther

Some people in here still have G6 and are happy with it, others bitterly complain of its shortcomings. I personally gave up on LG after getting to know V20 and comparing it to S7 or Pixel, also from 2016 but so much better, still going strong, thanks to software support - LG's Achilles's heel But maybe at LG they got their act together last year with G7 and upped their game, a bit like Sony, audiophiles especially praise G7.

plewis00

The 835 was such a generational jump in performance (going to quad-core Kryo) that even if you had to spend a little more to move up to one it makes more sense to do that rather than settle for the 820, and if you’re settling on an 820 the other flagships make more sense. The G6 is just too niche and weird to make a compelling buy at this price. The G6 was alsoa year too late to be a flagship in 2017 that’s why it was a huge flop.

Do you mean Google camera?

phda

its not the camera at fault its the stock camera app, which can be replaced with google photo which greatly improves the image quality.

jonnybravo

I would've thought so without having owned one but honestly, it is really bad. I accept that I was coming from Galaxy S7 Edge which has a notoriously good camera, but I expected this to at least be good.

haggisheid

I have the Lg G5 at the moment and the camera is excellent, I would have expected this to be an upgrade?

I was looking at this recently and ended up going with the Q6 for a lot less money. It's only slightly less of a phone if you're not after the very top specs. I picked mine up for 75 pounds (second hand) and am very happy with it. This is still a good deal though :) Ooops was a good deal

Bit shocking to see so-called 'good' retailers engaging in questionable practices, like sticking a pair of their own 'quality control' seals on a 'brand new' product. Surely those don't need QC, not from Argos anyway as they come sealed from manufacturer.

Mine has a scratch on the front glass, only really visible when off and a small chip on the top metal surround which a case hides. It did come with an Apple usb charger.. Unlocked mine by phoning EE and paying £8.99. Mine was made in November 2017 and judging by the "browser" history was used up until September 2018,, so effectively used for 9-10 months. Not bad at all for the money and a good "cheap" way to try it out. My near 3 year old LG G4 is still fine but this was too cheap to pass up. :)

V20 is a possibility but to be far its probs bit to big for me, and that second screen nonsense looks stupid, and its the same proccesor so not really an upgrade at the moment, I either want a removable battery of 5000mah battery, moto e5 plus is decent but slow proccesor to last me 2 years

xavierluther

V20 few months before, despite same processor G6 big step forward (but with SD821 couldn't compete with big boys last year), V series disappointing again with V30 in its various incarnations.

Update on my last comnent. Interested on others thoughts who may have had the same issue. I love my LG G6 bought new from JL last December. Biggest issue is the cheapo flimsy quite frankly crap Sim / SD tray that fits in the RH side. Had course to need to take the micro SD card that had been in the phone since I bought it. Stuck the pin tool in out it pops slightly. Pulled the tray out exactly as per the instructions. Part of the SD card side of the tray remained stuck in the phone. Took it to John Lewis and after a week they rang me to say LG were claiming it was damaged!. No sh*t Sherlock! I have checked online and I'm not the first to fall foul of the cheap design. Some of who have had the slot repaired under warranty. So I have since relayed this to JL who agreed and were going to go back to LG and have another go at them. Still waiting on an update. So be warned all. It's the same cheap flimsy plastic on the G5 and I believe the G7. The trays can be had for 2 quid on eBay. I wonder why so readily available? I think I might finally stop defending LG and move to another make. My 3rd LG and every one an issue and hassle getting them sorted.

FMCHAOS

Has anyone who owns an LG G6 had an issue with the Sim/SD card tray breaking? Bought my G6 from John Lewis last Christmas. Not took the tray out since I first put Sim and SD card in it then. Had a problem with email app constantly closing. Some online tips suggested removing the micro SD card and trying email then. When I tried the tray came out but a section of the SD card side of the tray remained in the phone. Stuck there. Looking online it seems I'm not the only one. I've taken the phone back to JL who are sending it off for repair. The tray is very flimsy. Once fixed I'm thinking of getting rid. Seriously thinking it's time to forget LG. Had boot loop probs with G3, which was fixed under warranty. Then G5 that had a screen issue. Refunded by Argos after they stopped selling the G5. Now this. They say things come in threes!

jonnybravo

Pretty much my exact situation, replaced my dead s7 edge as it had been dropped too many times by my daughter. Delighted woth it and only complaint would be it is slightly thick for a phone these days but that's cosmetic and really not important. Plumped for thise over the chinese ones i was considering as i think NFC is a must for me in this country in this day and age.

Stumead

They hobbled it further by only giving US models wireless charging - shame really as rather needless cost-cutting considering the original price point. Prices of these new have plummeted and are may keep doing so.

I currently have a g5 and i regret buying it. Screen image retention, often failures to charge, poor gps signal, poor mobile signal, thumb print scanner is unusable. And the glass screen breaks easily unlike trusty gorilla glass i had on my htc one m9, moto g2 and lumia 710. I will try and find a htc m9 or m10 when i can be bothered. I managed to scratchy the glass on an older phone on day 1! That had gorilla glass as well! A screen protector the next day made the scratch invisible for the last... 5 years?

Pondlife

Yeah. You've had one in better knick for a tenner less a week ago. Would be looking at the 64gb one anyway, possibly as much as 18m wear on the battery. The eglobal deal you found last month for that was more compelling, though the weak pound killing that atm.

I havent had any bootloop issues with mine

ADirtyOldClown

Did they fix the bootloop issue with the G6's? It was an issue with all the other G series LG's upto 5. Always something that has highly put me off them as I had a G2 and G3 that both got bootlooped and LG refused to touch them or acknowledge my claims. Edit: The LG G6 does have a bootloop issue but nothing bad at all just a simple fix of connecting it to a pc and holding a button or two. So with that I say great deal!

Craig_Watkins

I have this phone and it is really good. The battery lasts 36-42 hours with just normal browsing/Facebook, etc. The snap dragon 821 coupled with 4gb ram makes this phone very quick (things load instantly). This is my first Android phone too, and I would highly recommend this to anyone.
