Update on my last comnent. Interested on others thoughts who may have had the same issue. I love my LG G6 bought new from JL last December. Biggest issue is the cheapo flimsy quite frankly crap Sim / SD tray that fits in the RH side. Had course to need to take the micro SD card that had been in the phone since I bought it. Stuck the pin tool in out it pops slightly. Pulled the tray out exactly as per the instructions. Part of the SD card side of the tray remained stuck in the phone. Took it to John Lewis and after a week they rang me to say LG were claiming it was damaged!. No sh*t Sherlock! I have checked online and I'm not the first to fall foul of the cheap design. Some of who have had the slot repaired under warranty. So I have since relayed this to JL who agreed and were going to go back to LG and have another go at them. Still waiting on an update. So be warned all. It's the same cheap flimsy plastic on the G5 and I believe the G7. The trays can be had for 2 quid on eBay. I wonder why so readily available? I think I might finally stop defending LG and move to another make. My 3rd LG and every one an issue and hassle getting them sorted.

Has anyone who owns an LG G6 had an issue with the Sim/SD card tray breaking? Bought my G6 from John Lewis last Christmas. Not took the tray out since I first put Sim and SD card in it then. Had a problem with email app constantly closing. Some online tips suggested removing the micro SD card and trying email then. When I tried the tray came out but a section of the SD card side of the tray remained in the phone. Stuck there. Looking online it seems I'm not the only one. I've taken the phone back to JL who are sending it off for repair. The tray is very flimsy. Once fixed I'm thinking of getting rid. Seriously thinking it's time to forget LG. Had boot loop probs with G3, which was fixed under warranty. Then G5 that had a screen issue. Refunded by Argos after they stopped selling the G5. Now this. They say things come in threes!

jonnybravo

Pretty much my exact situation, replaced my dead s7 edge as it had been dropped too many times by my daughter. Delighted woth it and only complaint would be it is slightly thick for a phone these days but that's cosmetic and really not important. Plumped for thise over the chinese ones i was considering as i think NFC is a must for me in this country in this day and age.

Stumead

They hobbled it further by only giving US models wireless charging - shame really as rather needless cost-cutting considering the original price point. Prices of these new have plummeted and are may keep doing so.

plewis00

Seems like a lot of phone for the money. Shame they gimped it with a Snapdragon 821 from the outset when it's competitors had the much faster 835. Camera setup is really good, the wide-angle lens is arguably more useful and unique than a 2x optical telephoto. The only thing I don't like about LG phones is the odd and dated UI they insist on running.

I got the euro version from the site that not many trust. Must be just over 2 years and still going strong, dac and duel sim unlike past phones that have needed a full wipe yearly to refresh them

thabiz

I currently have a g5 and i regret buying it. Screen image retention, often failures to charge, poor gps signal, poor mobile signal, thumb print scanner is unusable. And the glass screen breaks easily unlike trusty gorilla glass i had on my htc one m9, moto g2 and lumia 710. I will try and find a htc m9 or m10 when i can be bothered. Or hold out for a good deal on a huawei or unknown chinesey. I wouldnt bother with LG again thats for sure.

Rotoq

I gave mine to my daughter and I'm jealous of the screen every time I pick it up.

I managed to scratchy the glass on an older phone on day 1! That had gorilla glass as well! A screen protector the next day made the scratch invisible for the last... 5 years?

Pondlife

Yeah. You've had one in better knick for a tenner less a week ago. Would be looking at the 64gb one anyway, possibly as much as 18m wear on the battery. The eglobal deal you found last month for that was more compelling, though the weak pound killing that atm.

Mrswitch

For £180? You sure?

Pondlife

Potential minor scratches on the screen is rather off putting.

Craig_Watkins

I havent had any bootloop issues with mine

ADirtyOldClown

Did they fix the bootloop issue with the G6's? It was an issue with all the other G series LG's upto 5. Always something that has highly put me off them as I had a G2 and G3 that both got bootlooped and LG refused to touch them or acknowledge my claims. Edit: The LG G6 does have a bootloop issue but nothing bad at all just a simple fix of connecting it to a pc and holding a button or two. So with that I say great deal!

Craig_Watkins

I have this phone and it is really good. The battery lasts 36-42 hours with just normal browsing/Facebook, etc. The snap dragon 821 coupled with 4gb ram makes this phone very quick (things load instantly). This is my first Android phone too, and I would highly recommend this to anyone.

polarbaba

@Harefoot Please don't feel guilty, you posted the deal in good faith! It's BT who have been misleading. I'd be interested to see what they come back with.... It's shortsighted on their part as I'm unlikely to order from them again. Once bitten, twice shy.

Harefoot

Hello dunc or whoever is reading incoming messages from HUKD. I recently posted this deal ...https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lg-g6-in-astro-black-or-platinum-with-free-bang-olufsen-headphones-sold-by-bt-shop-299-2988239#comment-34509995 can you clarify what is going on with the orders you've been fulfilling as I'm beginning to feel guilty for posting the deal. rustychain is obviously frustrated... Harefoot

rustychain

Response from BT: Thank you for your e-mail. All of our phones are brand new and un used. The only reason it may be un sealed is due to a quality check from the warehouse at the point of dispatch. They do not happen everytime, but can occur to check what is in the box is correct. The headphones on your order do RRP at £99 on our web site, prices do vary with other retailers, but if it was to be an individual order with us, it would be £99. I cannot speak for other retailers promotions. The reason you have an invoice for the headphones is so that if anything went wrong with them you have a paper chain for the warranty return. The £25.50 is removed from the cost of the phone, so the total value of the bundle is £299. If you find that you are not satisfied with the item, you can return both of them for a full refund. Please let me know how you would like to move forward.

Harefoot

Sorry that's what you've found. Let me know what happens after you speak to BT Shop.

Yes. If people go outside of the usual suspect of apple and Samsung, there are some decent phones out there. Bear in mind 15 years when Nokia and Motorola were major players, people would have queried Samsung making phones. I'm typing this from a Xiaomi - people say who and I then tell them it's an 18 billion dollar revenue company. And the 4th largest manufacturer of smartphones.

Hell lot of phone for this money. Link to specs if you've never heard of it and still ended up here: https://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g6-8466.php
Santa001

Yeah, the S8 is also the most expensive out of the three ;)

Santa001

If you don't care too much about the money (£400 ish) go for S8. View 10 looks like a great phone ( I never had Huawei phone), shame it isn't IP68; it'll also cost you about £350. G6 is the cheapest one, got one about one year ago for OH and never had any complains. All three are running Oreo, I'm pretty sure LG will be the latest one with new updates, at least that used to be the case in the past. (mad) The reason why I posted this deal is the price. Not getting the phone from some crappy Chinese website but UK Amazon makes me more comfortable and I'm sure you'll be able to sell the phone for £200 in one year time, loosing only £100. It definitely won't be the case of the Honor, not sure about S8. But you wouldn't mind to pay a bit extra if you'll go for the S8 anyway; so you should be fine to loose extra few quit once you decide to sell it.

gupsterg

As a G6 owner had one today, was on Oreo prior as well, just think "security patch level" updated. Got mine on the Argo ebay deal, refurb grade A £245. My only gripe is camera lacks clarity in most shots I've taken. Body/build quality is great IMO, like the USB C as well. Using LG Backup transferred old phone date with ease (was on LG G3). Like the UI, feels snappy, etc, overall happy and impressed with phone. Doesn't have "IR blaster"/wireless charging as G3 had, but never used those functions anyhow.

Zorciarr

(Coming from a former G6 owner) If you get through alot of phones, take the S8. If you want one to use for a while, I reckon you should take the View 10

Zorciarr

View 10 for updates. The G6 is awful for updates and the software commonly lagged. I'd pick the View 10 or S8

I wonder how much LG charge to replace a g6 (or g4 for that matter) battery? Just ordered a G6 for the better half, despite the boot loop issue of lg g4. Been very happy with my g4 aside from not being able to source an authentic g4 battery to replace mine.

dms05

Like others I've owned various LG phones and this one is the best. It's very comfortable to hold and use. The two rear view cameras are useful especially the wide angle one even if the definition isn't as good as the standard view one. It charges fast using the correct charger. Wireless charging would have been nice but nowhere near as quick. Like all phones it isn't perfect but at this price it's a worthy candidate. I'm very happy with mine.

Zero_Zuul

I had a G3 with bootloop (failed battery) and a g5 where the power button stopped working. Switched to an s7 edge and haven't looked back. Much better build quality and the battery lasts twice as long. Only thing I miss is the dual camera on the g5. I wouldn't buy another LG.

Pondlife

What Sony beats the P20? Really like the look of that one. Battery life and screen burn seem to plague Samsungs from looking at friends' phones after few months.

kev72

I have tried to like the LG phones because I remembered how people used to rave about the G2. I have since brought the LG Pro , LG X Fast and the V20. Nothing really goes well with any of them. I paid a lot of money for the V20 and it would be a great phone. But the lenses glass broke in a week in a leather phone case ( well know problem - check online ) and I can't even get one whole days battery . I don't even play games or any social media etc. Now I have The Huawei Mate 20 Pro and battery lasts all day but none touch Samsung or Sony and that's a shame.

As expected, completely fruitless experience with EGlobal. Ordered 11 June, received confirmation same day, but order has been stuck on Processing for past 2 weeks. No communication from them whatsoever. I just emailed them and they said they were Out of Stock, and asked me to wait further (no date given). I will give them another 24 hours, and if no satisfactory resolution, will file for PayPal Buyer Protection. Otherwise EGlobal could hold on to my money forever and never deliver.

thedon

Had another poor battery day today. Low usage but had to charge it twice (dropped to 40%ish quite quickly so charged it back up to about 85%) so I guess whatever the problem is, its still there. Much as I love the phone, I cant live with a battery that doesn't last all day. I see I can trade it in for £161 at sellphone24 handtec so might do that and replace it with a nokia 7 plus. Anyone got any advice around that? Is the nokia 7 plus a much poorer handset in comparison with the LG g6? Saw someone had three bad 7 plus handsets in another thread, so am feeling more cautious than I usually am with phones.

thedon

That's reassuring - I guess my problems started around the same time as the Oreo update. I had a quick look and there's a few comments on Reddit and XDA with people saying the same things. Hope there's a fix to follow soon from LG...

Pasanda

Had the G6 about 6 months. Battery life was 2 days when used lightly, with out of the box settings. After Oreo (about 2 weeks ago) that's been halved, unless i used the battery saver setting.

Wouldn't touch LG again after the bootloop fiasco, lost 2 handsets which they wouldn't repair

AndriiUA

No bootloop issues in G6 so far. It's a great phone and it will be soon updated to Android 8.

hcc27

Yes this is a peculiar LG thing. Has happened on my G2 and more recently, on an old LG G-pad 8.3. Resetting sometimes solves the problem for a while but it always reappears. I believe LG paid out on a class action related to this issue in the US. The G6 is a fantastic phone, but I just don't want to throw 250 notes given the bootloop issue. Heated.

I looked at the Nokia but it's more than I want to pay really. Only thing that put me off this g6 is the 90 day warranty, a year warranty and I'd have bought.

Phone price will probably drop even more once the LG G7 ThinQ is out

They're also a pretty flower! :D

Yeah it was good, powerful to run demanding headphones. What put me of with LG was the slowness of updating software. I liked the removable battery, wide angle Cam, DAC. I will wait and see what V40 will be like, might come bk who knows.

Or ask me. I'm always right. :{ Be prepared for the same confusion from people with any other Moto G6 deals. It has been the same with every generation after the Gen 1 Moto G was released. It hits it's peak last year with the G5/Plus/G5S/G5S Plus/Single/Dual SIM variants.

Expire/unexpire/expire/unexpire I should know not to trust people, and just look myself. (lol)

I think you may be confusing the different models available at Amazon. The low end Moto G6 Play is £169.99 or £179.99 for the Dual SIM version. The standard G6 is £219.99 or £239.99 for the Dual SIM version.

Not true. My LG G6 updated to Android 8 last month. Great phone.

Minor legal update - Both the sale of goods act and distance selling regulations were replaced a couple of years ago. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 is the main one that applies here.

I agree that non-UK/EU deals should be highlighted here but this should be mods job since they allowed these sites to be posted here... still pretty funny that some EU based sites with great reviews are banned but chinese sites are fine for posting

sheppio

Do you not agree that it would be more efficient for the OP of deals like this to put a disclaimer on their post rather than every viewer of their deal doing their own research? You and I maybe able to spot a Chinese company, but others may not. For example with this deal, some may see the ".co.uk" TLD as an indication of a UK based company, they'd be wrong. Perhaps a better long-term solution would be for the owners of HotUkDeals to identify and highlight non-UK/non-EU deals.

They have opened new software upgrade center in Korea this month. One of the first things will be delivering Oreo for G6..
