I got a premium upgrade with 'extra legroom' on a transatlantic flight back when they were First Choice. We got stuck in front of a wall. As you can't put your foot underneath a sheer wall the practical result was that you basically had less room to stretch your legs than with regular seats. Our upgrade didn't cost us anything (staff benefit) so we didn't really have a moan but the people next to us had paid a fair bit and weren't happy. Not convinced they've improved things since they were taken over.

defgimp

MAN to SFB, 28th April to 8th may, £229 pp if you can make those dates work for ya? there’s also premium club seats at £195

Phila4

Just a tip. Car hire is always a risky business - will I get ripped off for damage already there on the car before I drive it away? It's not so much of a problem in the US as elsewhere, like Spain, Italy etc, but to be on the safe side I'd recommend you do a walk around the car with a member of staff noting any existing damage (they're supposed to do this but never do) and/or do a walk round taking a video of all 4 sides and top of the car, focusing in on any areas of damage, scratches, nicks, dings etc., making sure you are seen doing it. Same thing when you return it. A few minutes start and finish of your holiday could well save you a headache and lots of cash later on down the line. There's also insurance you can take out here before you go to cover any damage excess and the like. Can't remember what it's called but it will be around £20-£25 and will replace/compliment the insurance you get out there. Again, not so much a problem in the US, but car hire staff always try to scare you or put a massive charge on your credit card to cover damage trying to force you to take out their additional, but expensive, further cover instead. Some may even say that your UK cover is irrelevant and won't cover you so you MUST take out their additional cover. Bunkum - just ignore them as you don't have to. Cracking deal - and I'm only 2 miles from Gatwick! But wife works for an airline so gets 12 free flights a year luckily!

defgimp

There seems to be (or was as I was looking) premium club seats on the 21st and 25th, didn’t look at any others, only 3 on each though. £217 on the 21st which is even better value :)

defgimp

Search and select the flight you’re interested in, on the next page after you’ve selected it, it lists all available upgrades and options. things like extra leg room seats, exit seats, baggage and ‘if there’s any available’ the premium upgrade seats. when you’ve looked at a couple you’ll get the idea, the premium cabin is small so there’s not always availability and if there’s 4 or more of you it can start to get expensive, but Florida’s never really been a “cheap” holiday :)

In Kerala, further down the coast from Goa at the moment-its insanely hot and humid. Not my idea of an idyllic beach holiday. It's cheap for a reason. To anyone considering this, I would suggest November-February may be a better option. As for the evisa, it's around £50. Be prepared as the online application is a bit of a faff but once completed, the visa was issued within 24 hours.

India doesn't allow its citizens dual citizenship. As for visa requirements, they are usually on a reciprocal basis - UK requires Indian citizens to get a visa (that too a lot more expensive than what India charges UK citizens).

How long can you spend in this place - my wife and one of our children are going to Soccer aid in June and on the Monday I was planning on booking them a Stadium Tour at Old Trafford but this looks good as well. They are staying a couple of minutes from Picadilly so is it possible you think to do the stadium tour, museum and then back to Picadilly for a train at 18:00 or would it be better to just do either the Stadium Tour or Museum?

Are you trying to tell us, Manchester stinks?

digitalabacus

This a no brainer. We were there a couple of years back and it was excellent. They had window frames from the World Trade Center there which were quite haunting. There was also a film which was displayed on several walls at set intervals and it was such an interesting watch about the history of war and not just in the conventional sense. It covered the troubles in Ireland etc, was genuinely a very very interesting watch. Would go back in a heartbeat.

sean8566

I’d like to highly praise the IWM North’s free exhibitions that I’ve seen over the years. They have had high quality artefacts, both in terms of military hardware, but also the personal belongings from service men/women. There has also been loads of information to read, which I like. I think though that it is fair to describe the museum as being an anti-war museum. It’s very close to the Lowry centre where you can also see L.S. Lowry's paintings for free, if you can face down the requests for a donation.

Hi @jam-tart , thanks for posting and welcome to HUKD. I suspect this may be a one off error at your local Tesco. The receipt says 'Smoothie Kit' which suggests this has either been mislabelled or someone (not suggesting you have for one minute) has been playing 'swap the labels'. I think this is what the reduced sticker belonged to https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/292444051 (which also would have been a good price for 40p)

jam-tart

I found them like this (more than one) and the girl who served me didn't question it.

jjsm639

I support a lower league team so the above is of no inters to me, go and have your petty squabbles elsewhere. Liverpool play football that could be argued better than City, I would rather watch this from a self resourced club as opposed to a funded one. Try and see the bigger picture.

jjsm639

Being a supporter of a lower league club I have no interest in petty interclub squabbles so the above is wasted on me. Fact is, both Liverpool and Manchester United have rich history based on success that was founded upon self generated resources. Chelsea and most certainly city have non of the above and due to limited histories don't have the capability to self resource.

I’m currently planning my itinerary for my California holiday and I can’t make up my mind on how long to stay in San Francisco. It’s so expensive and does look a bit overrated. I priced up tickets for the hop on hop off SF tour bus for a family of 4 for 1 day, it came to $176 (£130) that’s mental. And I won’t be bothering with the Alcatraz tour, which apparently you have to book months in advance cos it’s so popular, reading some of the 1 star reviews says it all really. Also SF is full of homeless and drunks and druggies. Motels £130 per night that have some really sketchy reviews. I was considering not to bother at all but I think I will be booking 2 nights stay at the end of my vacation. I fly back to MAN from SFO.

The Americans are quite possibly number one for marketing something quite average and making out it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. When I was living in this area, the majority of my coworkers (all American from various states) were quite disappointed with San Francisco. The coastline is pretty epic to be fair. Wouldn't be rushing back to SF (not that I can anyway) but California has a lot of beautiful scenery.
