So I called maybe around 15 stores NW of Birmingham, none in stock. :( They sounded like they never had it/heard of it. Some stores told me that I'm the 2nd/3rd/4th to call asking for this, so I just thought I'd save everyone some effort :) ...

Hege Reference #15305. Maybe it helps if phoning the store to check if it's in stock.

Is this the newer half scale stuff that's really fiddly?

I've tried to make Meccano with my 7 year old a couple of times...hateful hateful stuff. The polar opposite to Lego, particularly the instructions.

Great price so hot but have a good read of the reviews before you buy. We got max for a 10 year old for Christmas and it was absolutely great to build and start playing with but the fun soon ran out. It doesn't learn or have intelligence so once you've heard all it's jokes and played a few games there's nothing much left.

Fair enough. lol

Looks like a crashed ex-LaFerrari in that picture! (shock)

Kids of today eh? Pffff... wanting to do things with their parents.... Once you do that there'll be no end to it. They'll be wanting to talk with you next! Have they never heard of tablets and PS4's????

What a great space saving item!

Who else thought this was a massive bucket of fried chicken? Be honest

Good item, but wouldn’t use Very again. Odd way of accepting payment that they won’t let you make a straight payment and they require you to hold an outstanding debt to them to be paid at a later point.

“The brand now maintains a manufacturing facility in Calais, France“ ... hopefully not building a bridge!

Managed to grab one of each in store today to keep by for my son's birthday! Was about 5 of each left. Thanks op!

Got the LaFerrari from the store in Dudley yesterday right before closing time. Same price. There were 4 boxes left on the shelf. 2 were Lamborghinis. Not sure about the other 2.

Possibly, but most likely because it looks a complete pile of poo!

Is the 'adventador' cheap because its after December 24th?

Having bought this for my nephew I can confirm that it is definitely more then 1-3 hours build time! Good toy though. I would suggest the complexity is above your normal 10 year old as well though.

Meccano G15 Robot £99.99 down from £169.99 @ Amazon
Found 26th Dec 2015Found 26th Dec 2015
Bargain price for this meccano robot. I'd prefer the more expensive one bit that's over 200 quid! This is a good 2nd option.

My 12 year got this for Christmas,I'd say it took him about 4 hours and 1 hour helping of dad. Looked to be about 2 million pieces though....anyway I'm off to go get 4 c batteries now as its built! I'll post later and say if it's any good.

I am building one with my 9 year old son. So far he is sticking with it, but we do a few pages each day so he does not get fed up with it. Fingers crossed. It does help anyway with a child involved as you need little fingers to hold some of the parts in place while you do them up. I agree about the comments above about the instructions, they could be better. Anyway, it's a good challenge for parent and child. It's almost like I got an extra present for Christmas!.

I haven't got either but IMO the Meccano set teaches you more (hopefully be getting mine soon) as it is a learning toy, the bb8 (though cool) is just a toy. You could always try inspiring your son, this video is quite good: and tell him that robot building (and learning) leads to building your own custom full size BB8 and astromechs: And other cool projects (Lego Mindstorm Bridge):

I bought the smaller one for my 10 year old Daughter.... it's VERY complicated to build - i'm currently about halfway though it as she gave up. Fingers are pretty sore now :-( The instructions leave a lot to be desired as in places it's hard to work out which holes the bolts go through as they have used dark gray print on black print. This could be down to my eyesight but have had a few occasions where I have had to break it apart and build bits again due to using the wrong part. I'll update this post when I'm finished ;-)

Bought my 12 year old one for Xmas this price at smyths - he has asked if I'd mind swapping if for the BB8 droid thing from Star Wars - he thought Meccano looked geeky I reckon :( any experience of either of these toys anyone?
