Hi all, After a lot of research, i found that there is a band 20 supported Meizu M6 Note variant (M721H). Best price i could find is through AliExpress but it isn't the easiest si… Read more

Ive ordered this phone, but just from the AliExpress app. The global version does have band 20 & ota, but the global firmware doesn't have either. I wouldn't go near another Xiaomi phone again, good build but very poor on updates on the lower priced phones & miui is very poor (in my opinion).
Couldnt vote +, could be Xiaomites ganging up on you... How does one deal when ones deal goes cold?

Bit surprised how cold this is seeing the same phone but not band 20 compatible and £6/7 more expensive from the same website got a sunny 23 degrees just a month ago

Think there's firmware updates but not OTA. Looks stable enough on stock ROM. I reckon Oreo will eventually come out for it as this phone has only been out since around August.
How likely are updates?

it's only a problem if your network uses only band 20 4g ,namely O2 , Tesco ,Giffgaff and others . But it doesn't mean the phone will not work - seems to be the end of the world for some people . You're ok if your network is covered by other frequencies , and there is still 3g .
Bought first time in my life Chinese phone after being with Samsung's and i can say I'm never going back to paying premium price's ever again. I have mi max 2 and don't see any issue not having band 20 on three network
I know its not great that it doesn't have Band 20.but it does have band 3 and 7 are these that bad? Sorry never had a chinese or japanese phone so have no idea
Thanks for the shout 😘! There is a 16gb version also , which comes in cheaper kimovil.com/en/…ote , but looks like only one colour . I think this might be worth the extra over the Redmi Note 4 for the camera if it's important for anyone . No doubt there will be a RN5 shortly , but it's hard to imagine how they will position it as Xiaomi seems to be painting itself into an ever-decreasing corner - I assume it would have to be better than the 4 but not as ' good ' as Mi 5X / Mi A1 ( Camera is 5X's advantage and Note 4's weakness , so if they improve that and processor it will really blunt 5X sales ).
If vendor installs a rom ,check that it's ota compatible - Meizu updates often

Its £86 but also a $2 OFF coupon so £84.50 odd i think?

The one you showing is not a grey/black model but if you can use the coupon the grey comes down to around £87.60.
It really is amazing what you can get for 100 quid or less in the mobile phone market.
A lot of peeps will say not got this and not got that but at the end of the day it is only £88 quid for a reasonable spec phone.

Bought mine off the back of this article too

Turns out you can listen to music when not exercising which suits me fine

But the website price and the actual price taking into account currency and PayPal conversion makes it a few quid more than the advertised price
The ones with an inline volume control and buttons will tug on that side's ear, they're not a good design
Don't, I went off and bought these after that article as well. Turns out they are rubbish for when you are running. Didn't stay in.

For weights workout, yeah why not but any fast movement and they just drop out.

Not a bad price but I suggest looking elsewhere.

do you mean you need to download the Google Play Store?

Depends on what ROM it ships with. There is an app on the Meizu app store that installs Google Play Services but mine came with a custom install and I needed to install the stock fw first to remove all the Chinese adware and then installed Google Play Services. That's just the start of the fun though but it's an amazing device if you can live with a rooted phone as your daily driver. Up there with a Note 4.

107 quid? I really wouldn't have thought so lol. I believe it supports OTG but I've no need of it as I'm not a huge user of mobile storage (lots of my stuff is in the cloud). The camera on this is really superb. Just come back off holiday and the pics I took surprised even me!

Well that nearly drove me mad but got a workaround. Managed to find one other person with the same issue on the internet - luckily they had found a solution. I had to turn the max speed of the wireless connection down in the router.

No idea why - haven't had chance to look into it - just happy it worked.

The person with the problem had a D-Link router and set there's to 11mbps and it worked.

I also have a D-Link router and have set mine to 9mbps and it worked.

Will look into it properly at some point but it works for now.
4G all working perfectly now but I'm going to eat through my data allowance

Wifi is just rubbish. I have to keep disabling and then enabling the wifi to make it work, then it might work for 2 seconds or 20 seconds.

Does it sound like I have a faulty device or an incompatible setting?

I have tried different channels on the access point (currently set to channel 9)
Received today - so far not good

On EE - signal bar shows good strength and shows 4G next to it but can't get on any websites. Have manually put APN settings in but still no internet.

I've connected to 2 different wifi access points, both work for a small amount of data then fail. So I can load google and perhaps a page of results - maybe even the homepage of a website but then it says connection lost. Signal shows as good. Tried 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz connections.

So, so far pretty rubbish

Anything I'm doing wrong? I want to download the play store but can't even get far enough to download it

After playing around I've found the 4G seems to be better - and although I still can't get Google Play to install, I can however browse the web with 4G but wifi still doesn't work properly. Any suggestions?

These will be the International version with Google Play Store and services out of the box. Amazon returns are second to none and the phone is indeed 5.5 inch. Benchmark tests are all well and good but they do not represent day to day use nor do they represent a phone with two or three weeks with your data etc building up on it.

These are an excellent phone with better than expected build quality and a genuinely well thought out OS.

I live in a black spot but this holds a signal. My g2 note4 and ip6plus all struggled. So glad my ip6plus was within the 14 day return window as this was 531 quid cheaper and is just as good in fact I prefer it.
It's funny you say that about reception as I have found the same with Chinese handsets they seem to get reception everywhere!
bdt_1978

CommentHow did you find the flyme OS mate

Its ok to be honest. It came with china unicom rom so downloaded the general rom. Installed fine. The signal is superb. I got 1 bar 3g on the i[hone 6 plus and this gets 4 bars 3g and 1 bar 4g. The iphone never got a 4g signal at all.

I always use nova launcher so looks like vanilla android now. You can have it so the on screen back button does not show and you swipe the home button up to go back but I also downloaded all in one gestures from playstore as that lest you swipe left from edge of the right hand side to go back which works perfect so apps and games show full screen.

The screen is the most responsive I have felt too.
