They also don't show you how big the beach is after a hurricane.

Could not agree more. I was climbing the walls after a couple of days.

I don't go on vacation, I go on holiday! If you'd been to the places I'd mentioned you'd know what I mean.

WOW! They dont show these pictures in the brochures ;)

Totally agree, long haul Benidorm all the way. Has exactly the same conversation with the other half when we came back last week. Don't forget the other highlights. Everybody tatted up, drinking sugary cocktails all day. All inclusive food, more of the same every day, 6 plates worth - what great value for money! Very friendly staff, who are even friendlier to the americans and Mexicans, who tip them for every drink and therefore they ignore everybody else. Great TUI club entertainment, for anybody who spent the last 25 years in a prison. Mexican Elvis was the worst of these... Don't forget the weekenders. particularly the young americans - under 21 year olds who start drinking at 10am only to be extracted by security at midday....The trips were good but a rip off..... Nice blue skies, blues seas, palm trees and yellow sand. Lovely. Shame about the seaweed......

There's so much arguing in this comment section I'm so confused about this deal (lol) My understanding is you sign up to Turkish Netflix using a revolut card and you will end up playing 3.50 or so a month for the standard Netflix without having to watch Turkish content? Am I right? Dropping around 50 quid into my revolut account should be enough for the year or is exchange rate expected to fluctuate a lot?

You mean 39.99 Lira I assume? 13.99 TRY is worth just £1.80.

My revolut account is showing 13.99 Turkish lira as now about £5 something.

I went to Borough market a few weeks after the attack because I was disgusted I'd never been there before. I used to commute through London regularly and had never heard of the place. I had the normal 'are you mad?' concerns. I've been going to potential terrorist spots my whole life, I'm not going to stop now. You use a bit of savvy and stay awake in potential hotspots.

It's probably fairly safe if you keep away from drink, drugs and prostitution. And you don't get wound up/violent easily, or tend to make others wound up/violent.

50p each way on the bus to people-watch through the hotel zone (once is enough, but note the turquoise ocean). Then back to sanity at my favourite centro restaurant. Four courses and a drink £3 :) Viva (the real) Mexico!

All police out here is armed. And they petrol the hotel zone as a lot of the income comes from torrists to make people feel safe. They are more like check points than petrols, your Taking my words out of context. Anywhere you go in the world has crime.

I can highly recommend the Rui yucatan it is brilliant, safe and a gated community absolutely class holiday!

Great price. These are usually on offer for a pound each at Morrison's. I don't think they're as hot as the 3 chilli rating would infer but they're tasty. The sofrito one is the tastiest I find.

Flights 5-19th March Mexico Cancun 14 Nights £249pp @ TUI - Skyscanner
Found 21st FebFound 21st Feb
As above was shopping around for Mexico and I cant go. Hopefully someone can take advantage.

Heat added. Last time paid £300. Surprisingly good value because I did not expect them to serve food and beverages. Don't expect it to be like full service airline and you will be ok.

Also worth mentionning there is a ~£50 departure tax and you can only bring 5kg in a carry on luggage.

I bought this ticket and went for 2 weeks about 3 weeks ago. Once in Cancun go either to Isla Holbox for a relaxing beach place, Bacalar for a relaxing lagoon (it's far south), Valladolid for the cenotes (sinkholes) and Chichen itza (ruins), Merida is also a nice city, close to Izamal, Uxmal and Campeche for the colonial old center and the anti pirate fortresses. Tulum is really touristy but the ruins are quite nice to swim around. Avoid Playa del Carmen and Cancun it's rubbish unless you want to party. Bus are ADO (1st class with energy socket and wifi) and Oriente (2nd class)

Do yourself a favour and get out of Cancun ASAP. The Yucatan is beautiful and pretty cheap so there's no reason to get stuck with the all inclusive holiday crowd.

Over a grand on the 29 March penalised for having children and don't forget the departure tax as its not included.

Shame about the initialdeal teething problems, this is a scorcher! Hot hot!!!

I just wanted to say that I’m with EE and the service is astonishingly good. The customer service is excellent (all UK based, very low wait times) and performance is decent too. Had numerous problems with BT Openreach (I mean who doesn’t and more importantly how does such a useless company still exist in 2018) but I was kept informed along the way and compensated when there was an issue. It’s been the best experience I’ve had with an ISP all things considered

Thanks for the reply. I already have EE 4g but not max so I'd get 5gb extra - I likely won't use it though so it's not really a factor. It's pretty fast at my place but basically no coverage at Mum's where I spend a fair bit of time. I would have preferred a cash discount personally. I am unsure if I can switch to max, I'm still in contract but don't know much about it...

Have you tested the 4G network speeds at home and work? EE seem to have best speeds, but it is dependent on your local Cellular Masts. I believe EE use Huawei hardware on their masts, I tend to be loyal to Huawei 4G routers for this reason.

For me it's likely this, or plusnet, or maybe Vodafone. Maybe I'll even stay with ADSL for another year and just change provider! Of the fibre providers mentioned above, this one is like £3.50 more for double the speed so not too bad, which would you choose? Have you had problems with any? I've only used PlusNet ADSL some time ago and it was really very good. thanks :)

Heat added, I've finished it today. Great game!

kiltyrg Worth checking this updated thread out to purchase then for those who do not know?

You could... 1. Buy 200 MXN (appx. £7.98) xbox credit from Seagm (link in description) - this is the minimum amount you can buy. 2. Navigate to Microsoft's Store and change the region to Mexico (bottom left hand corner) and find Firewatch (link in description) ... tip, use Chrome and Google Translate extension to translate into English :) 3. Click Buy and redeem the xbox credit at the point of purchase. You'll be left with $75.50 MXN in your Microsoft 'wallet' for a future purchase. Game will download in English (if your Xbox is set to that language) Hope that helps.

so what credit would you buy to all this

Sorry to here about that. That’s a crap way to operate. Don’t think I’d book them ever again.Beware TC bookers.

So you think Thomas Cook are giving you the exit tax for nowt? It's built into their holiday price, either way you ultimately pay for it. Would not travel with Thomas Cook - they have a very lean airline for the size of their operation, and frequently divert return flights to major airports not too far from the intended airport e.g. a fair few Newcastle flights get diverted to Manchester so they can bus you back to Newcastle within 4 hours and not pay a penny for the extra inconvenience. Then their plane is ready to go from Manchester.

Chichen Itza is amazing - the engineering that went into that place is staggering. They built a pyramid to represent the solar year, 4 sides 91 steps high, plus the temple at the top = 365 days. Also, at the equinox, at a certain time of day, the sun snakes down one corner. If they built that pyramid more than 1 foot from where it is, the snaking would not happen. Also, the echos at the set of columns making the duck quacking noises when you clap. How did they know how to do all that when they were still hunting with spears?

What's your point?

Before booking I would find out when the ship was built, and go to to see the reviews. But one thing is true in the crusing world, you get what you pay for, so dont expect top notch food, entertainment, facilities, decor, etc The OP should have posted the ship name really, in crusing the brand is all important! However Pand O and Fred Olson do attract an older clientele

It works perfectly ok with the disembarkation as not everybody gets off at the same time, and people scatter very quickly

Hope that chip on your shoulder doesn't weigh you down too much.

Ha ha Chavs !!!!!!! The cruises on royal Caribbean and celebrity we have done come with drinks packages but they cost £2800 per person for our balcony cabin . Never met a chav , we don't use P&O !!!! We have done one P&O and it was like Benidorm and butlins holiday . Full of chavs

Most UK foreign exchange outlets don't convert the Mexican Peso so you either take loads of £ or use ATM's when you get there. Use a fee-free card and be aware that ATM's are surprisingly rare; I have seen large queues for an ATM in Puerto Vallarta. Also, 24Peso to the £ is still very good - it's just that it collapsed for a short while after Trump was elected due to his anti-Mexican campaign rhetoric.

So people who want to save have mental health issues? Good first comment

Yep, no Baggage costs (add £70 I guess), so not really a great saving

Quite cheesed off with Thomson - the reason the Mexico flights are so cheap is that no hold luggage is included and you have to pay £50 departure "tax" when departing Mexico in order to leave. Every other airline includes this tax with the price of your ticket, but not Thomson - as I found out last week when returning from Cancun.
