I've just bought the game as a guest, paid through Paypal. I've still not received any confirmation email from CDKeys, I have received confirmation of pay from Paypal. A little concerning since I usually receive these keys instantly. Checked my spam too, nothing yet. I'll see what happens in the morning.

I have never played a MH game before...tell a lie I bought it for the Wii and played like 10 minutes then put it down. I bought the PC version of MHW just because I thought, why the hell not. I have enjoyed it, yeah it's grindy but I like the challenge of killing things. If you're not sure what you're doing there are plenty of youtube videos out there to help you become a capable hunter. The main one you should watch is how to capture beasts as you get a better drop ratio than killing.

ahmed123

Also Steam Winter Sale is in 7 days so might just hold out until then. The price probably won't be cheaper but I'll wait and see what's a good deal on sale.

ahmed123

Interesting. The only thing that puts me off is the learning of what you need to do and the intricacies of it all. I played the beta on PS4 and enjoyed it, but I honestly didn't really know what I was doing. (embarrassed)

Trueogre

Might go even cheaper when the expansion pack is release late next year. They might do an inclusive pack since you need the original game. But put it this way, buy now, level up, be ready for those Gamma and Ultima gear updates.

It depends on how well you OC the GTX 1060 but they trade blows pretty well Isn't the rx 590 the same bump. Last time I checked the 580 was 14nm and the 590 12nm Information below. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_Radeon_500_series I also think the GTX 1060s don't come with a factory BIOS OC but have to be software overclocked but I might be confused with the GTX 1070ti.

kester76

Mostly YouTube benchmarks, between 3-5fps difference between some titles but no where near the 970. There's a lot of BS about the GTX 1060 like RTX 2070 not beating the GTX 1080. I wasn't going to go for a 1060 6GB but after seeing the benchmarks I was surprised by the super jetstream 1060 6GB, especially in VR.

7777777

come one, being better by 10% is not beating another with hands down. All these cards gtx 970,1060 3gb and 6gb rx 470/480/570/580 are from the same performance segment, all are gonna be fine for fullhd. 1060 offers better power efficiency (the gap could be closed a bit via uv, though) and CUDA (if you need it) . AMD on the other hand gives you quite a few extra features and better picture quality and obviously freesync that could save you several hundreds pounds whilst comparing to Nvidia's equivalent.

davem

No it's not - 580 wins in most titles now and 580 is not just a rebadged 480, 480 is on 14nm process and 580 is 12nm which allows slight better clocks. Here's a 590 v 580 v 1060 comparisons over several games.

Javz

How is it "pretty much a 980"? Do you have any benchmarks or sources to back that? I would have said it's a slightly better variant of a 970. EDIT: Research suggests that to be the case, the 1060 is similar to a 980, but the 980 performs better in most cases, whilst the 970 underperforms slightly compared to the 1060

Just got to Astera. Dull so far, usual lazy Capcom subtitles rather than voices and looks like its from the 360. Will give it a while longer, but doubt I'll be buying it

liltman

Bah wish it was PC, might set it downloading on PS4 though. Will take me ages to download though but I do want to try it

snotters

I hated this on the Wii. Absolutely awful. I'm hoping the xb version will be a bit more fun, less grind-ey with legible menus/interface

BadMotive

How do I download on PS4?

Well Amazon replaced it at first, the second one was the same before I gave up and went to EVGA.

Metalex

OK, to make it clear, either your card was faulty or not manufactured to normal standards, or there was something wrong with your methodology in either cooling your PC or measuring the temps. 80C is not the norm for this card.

ollie87

It won't be cooling, I can assure you, especially given how low my overclocked 4670K runs.

Metalex

I'd suggest your card was an outlier in that case, or as I said, your cooling was insufficient.

ollie87

My Zotac GeForce GTX 1070 Mini ran at 80 degrees playing PUBG. Not really the case of having not enough cooling when the EVGA card runs so much cooler is it? Especially when the TDP is higher on the Ti version. Besides, the whole point of a "Mini" card is to use it in smaller form factor builds such as mITX cases where space and airflow is especially limited.

steve_bezerker

I'm not sure about that. The most effective strategy in the game is to take the bow and spam the power shot (O) repeatedly, with the right combination of gear (not hard to attain) you can stun-lock and kill any monster in the game completely solo, never needing help. There are also gimmick builds with most of the other weapons that make this game far too easy, like the hammer stunlock too or the 'Can never catch me' light bowgun where your mobility is about 100x higher than any monster in the game. A fair review of this game would be: "Great for the first 15 hours whilst it might be slightly challenging and then extremely repetitive and easy". I mean you don't even unlock any new abilities or anything - just passive abilities that very marginally change your resistance to an element or stop you getting poisoned, just a way to artificially create content that developers have abused for years. I think the criticism that has been thrown towards this game is very justified. We all knew the story was going to be weak going in but as far as game-play mechanics go this is also one of the more disappointing in the series, the only real merits to this game is its stable multiplayer co-op, and let's be frank, any game with friends immediately becomes 10x better.

killainc

Its nothing like FF or Dynasty Warriors, the game gives you freedom on how you approach every monster. there are 14 types of weapons in the game with each types having an array of different weapons underneath them. There is no levelling system in the game. To get better and get new gear, you have to slay or capture monsters and use their materials to improve your gear. Tons of side missions and the story is not the best. Monster Hunter Games never focus on storyline. The battles and crafting your own gear with rewarding events is what makes this game a standout to other games this year. It won the best coop game of the year award.

killainc

I understand its your opinion but there are some unfair criticism towards this game, There is a learning curve but once you understand the mechanics its a delight to play, especially with friends. If you can't get a flying monster down to the ground then I question your tactics going into battle. Its not your standard hack & slash game with no thinking required. Honestly if you prefer generic hack & slash games that hold your hand throughout the game then this game isn't for you.

shane.allen

Just...don't...buy it - I bought it for a fiver, still not worth it. Fight animations are sloppy and repetitive, the "main" monsters are just stupid, spend 10mins crippling it, it then flies to the other side of the map which makes every mission the exact same and lasts an hour. Seriously, don't bother.

ImperialWookie

It's fantastic with a friend, and the mechanics are quite deep. Gameplay reminds me of the souls series, slow and timed. These reasons alone are why many people won't like it. Doesn't have the instant gratification most casual games give these days.

The game is awesome but crashes. Err12 graphics failure. My PC is above the minimum spec but it still crashes on high and even mid settings. I play on low 30fps. The only reason I play this on the pc and not my PS4 is for the fact that I have a gpd win2, which I use to play on the go and on my main pc at home v

Gameplay wise, I haven't had any issues but I know others have. Also I wouldn't recommend using keyboard & mouse, controls arent that great. Definitely best played with a gamepad.

That is really an amazing story and the way it has been handled by them. To be honest, it still amazes me sometimes when I post Boomerang deals I get people coming and commenting bad things about buying preowned/ex-rental without even ever have tried them before. (SavageDonkey, I am not talking about you mate, don't get me wrong please)

Vladimir

My funniest story with them is I had ordered a copy of Dynasty Warriors at a great price but it went missing in the post. No problem to replace except the only other copy they had was out as a rental and so I could get a refund or wait for this rental copy to which I chose to wait for the rental. They sent me occasional e-mails keeping me up to date and still offering a totally hassle-free refund but just for the fun of it I decided to see how long it would take. So after a while I did admittedly kind of forget about it until one day a Jiffy bag popped through the door and lo and behold it was my copy of Dynasty Warriors with a hand written sticky note thanking me for my patience. Total time to get to me? Six months. Yep, half a year but they were happy to let me wait, kept me updated whilst offering a refund at any time and after all that time they still delivered.

Istanbul_Kop

Waiting for Jurassic Park to come back. Missed out at £24.99.

Vladimir

Ah, sorry - I misunderstood and thought you had never ordered before because of it. I wouldn't worry about it at all to be honest and I can be a pretty anal collector. Blu-ray discs are tough things and if any of the old PS1 and PS2 games I have could withstand a machine clean 15-20 years ago and still be working to this day (which were respectively only CDs and DVDs) I'm sure a blu-ray will last for ages. I feel that the key to disc longevity would rest more in you as the owner keeping it clean, in a good case that prevents scratches/dirt and in an optimal environment such as no damp and a temperature that's not too hot or too cold.

mattlong37051

I have to admit I must have been the only one but I did get a game where the spindle had cracked, no scratches so not abuse. But even in this instance boomerang are spot on I sent it back via free post and another one was with me within a couple of days. People always plug how good they are but even in the event of a fault they are spot on (y)
