Has anyone managed to get a memory card to work in the G5? I have an English G5, and bought a Sandisk 128Gb class 10 A1 Card. I have formatted it in the phone and it's reported as corrupt. It's a common problem on the G5 and the G5S.
I'm hoping the Oreo update due soon will fix it. I've looked all over different forums for an answer, but have been unable to find one so far! Can anyone help?

This or p10 lite?
Great phone. Got this last September on Amazon pre-order for £200.82. Looks good, runs well and feels premium. This smartphone really does hit the sweet spot in terms of price, quality and specification. Android Oreo update due soon. You can spend a lot more on a phone, but in terms of pound for pound value, you get diminishing returns.

G5 Plus is £199 at Carphone Warehouse & G5S Plus is £249 at Carphone also. …G5 Plus is £199 at Carphone Warehouse & G5S Plus is £249 at Carphone also. This is G5S. I think Lenovo need to sort out their naming

What's so difficult to understand here?? G5S and G5S Plus, simple. This G5S phone is actually surprisingly fast & smooth,a decent performer when I tried one as is the camera too. Camera on this is better than the G5S Plus. Using the same SD430 CPU as Nokia 6 i found the Motorola much smoother

Only seems a few months since the G5 was released! They really need to slow down, they're already diluting/confusing their product line enough as it is
Just added the G5s to the basket and applied the code, still works. Not expired (the G5S Plus is oos though).

I agree and it's something that has put me off buying the G5s and G5s …I agree and it's something that has put me off buying the G5s and G5s Plus. I am looking to replace my old Moto G 2nd gen dual sim mobile but I'm used to having dual sims and a microSD card in my mobile so the idea of having to swap out one of the sims to allow use of a micro SD card is a real backward step for me.

indeed, you also cant swap the sim on the go either because you need a little pokey thing to poke the sim tray out, I guess you could attach it to your keys, but you shouldn't have to really, just a badly thought out design IMO.

P10 lite over the G5s Plus? Why, if I may ask?

For me it's that extra GB of RAM in the p10 lite.

If you have around 250, that's why I also mentioned a second hand one plus 3 as it has 6GB RAM which makes it a total beast.

Bought this same phone from Argos on ebay earlier this week. It came in a plain brown refurb box, not an original box.
I have the 3GB version and it is a very good phone for £100. No NFC, and using the sd card for storage makes the apps a bit slow to load, like Spotify takes ages to load my library. I'm using a very old SD card though. Also, sometimes the fingerprint scanner does not do anything, not sure that is due to some apps I have installed which are interfering.

Looking on the forums, their staff were saying they had no clue if you will get single sim or dual sim models when people were asking about this. The Motorola website states: XT1803 on the specs of what they're selling which is the single SIM.

Yeah, saw the XT1803 text on the Moto website and got worried, so I emailed them via the contact form:

Thank you for contacting Motorola Customer Service Support.

I would like to inform you, that all G5S Plus sold trough our official website are coming in Dual SIM versions.

For any further assistance or information please do not hesitate to contact us, quoting your Customer Reference number. We are reachable on 03339 997 550 to discuss the matter further with one of our experienced customer service agents. Please contact us any time between the hours of 8am and 6pm from Monday to Friday.

Kind regards,

Aside from the lack of compass, which is indeed a serious flaw, I fail to see why you think this is an inferior quality phone with a big price. This deal cannot be compared to a grey import for obvious reasons, but when looking at similarly priced UK sourced phones, I think this is a tough act to follow, not least for the all aluminium build quality, the dual lens camera (a first in this price range) the selfie camera uprated to 8 megapixels, coupled with a decent mid-ranged Snapdragon 625 Octa- Core processor an 3GB of RAM the reviews indicate a fast, responsive handset with no lag, even with some high end games. The performance has been remarked as being almost on par with a flagship phone costing 3 times the price. The full HD screen is perfectly acceptable and hardly noticeable to a 4K screen, but has the advantage of running more efficiently. The reviews are generally pretty good on the whole.

I would be very interested to hear of which handsets you feel offer better quality, better specifications at this price point, which is not a grey import.

This is a good upgrade from previous model but it's still on Pre Order on Amazon UK whereas the standard G5S is out now. I have read on Moto forums that some people having issues with this handsets front camera being very dark, heating issues and severe standby battery drain. Could be people who have no clue what they are doing or early bugs. I purchased a brand new Motorola G5S last week at John Lewis in Birmingham for £229. Nice phone, lovely design, screen etc but the camera. Oh dear Motorola Right out of the box the camera was like looking through a haze with very blurry images and I am a photographer & I know what I am doing. It was absolutely terrible. Returned to the store and tried the other one they had in stock and that was the same. It was either a bad batch or the camera really is crap. I had never ever seen a camera on a smartphone look so blurry, out of focus and like looking through a steamed up window. There was also lots of noise in the images. So the standard G5S if you get one be wary. I am sure the G5S Plus will be better. Voted hot

Tesco has a funny return service in that they return you full amount even though you bought the item at a discount.
I bought this item but I also bought the P10 Lite at the same time. I really liked the P10 so went to return the 'still sealed' G5.
To my surprise I noticed £150 something instead of the £125 on my receipt and ... decided to keep it

Edges of the sides were slightly damaged (as if it had been dropped allot) and the camera lens had some minor scratches on it (doesn't effect quality of the pictures thank god, but still may cause issues in the future as the lens will be more prone to further scratches).

HI, sorry been away. The 'as new' condition arrived without any protectors on front and back, and there does not seem to be any marks on it at all. If you have the option I would order an 'as new' and return yours under the 30 day warranty if you still can.

Description is as follows:"Item will come in original packaging. Packaging will be damaged. All purchases eligible for Amazon customer service and a 30-day return policy"These were priced at £230 only a week ago. You should be ok with a very good item. Agreed they sometimes can be returned items that people have handled and returned but apart from that are fine.I did look at the very good, but they all seem to have small scratches on the screen, which would put me off. As will be in a case, sides and back I could live with.
