I have the first watch pictured, the "Melissa" watch (rose gold coloured face) https//ww…94 bought from Argos ebay last year for around £13.59 (variants of this style, also in two-tone, were £12-14ish for a while, alas Argos no longer has Caravelle in stock - they had the pink face Caravelle New York 44L223 but unsure of price).

Apart from it being "Boyfriend-style" (oversized) which annoys me a bit when I'm typing - I really like it. I'd even push the boat out and say that I think it's a bit better made than my Michael Kors watch, which I was gifted around Xmas. The Chrono function works, it's maintained its gold finish well (something many MK purchasers moan about) and looks much more expensive than the price paid!

Caravelle are, of course, owned by Bulova/Citizen, I'm sure you know that already.

This may not be a popular point of view but I actually think the Caravelle (by Bulova) watch I have hotukdeals.com/dea…94 is better made than the MK I was gifted at Xmas (I would, actually, have preferred an Orient, but don't tell him that!!). Out of interest how did you commute to Six Flags? Car hire?

Yes, hired a car from Manhattan. The journey about about 1hr45mins.
If ever a deal was to be nominated for it’s subsequent wealth of poor comparisons and misinformation, this is it.

Whilst Newark into the City May be 30 Minutes and Stewart into the City 60 minutes longer, this time saving and much more can very easily be wiped out when one considers the average time taken to clear immigration upon arrival at Newark and Stewart. This is based on several family members having made a number of trips to New York for family gatherings, departing both London and Edinburgh.

Cold, can be done much cheaper with the purchase of wood and materials to fashion a canoe with, the short walk to a west facing beach (max 100 miles, c'mon people) and a relatively short 6 month paddle to New York and you get to see the statue of Liberty close-up, result !

6 month paddle back and a leisurely jog home over another week. Only over a year return, but look at the saving!

Seriously though, New York is one of the most expensive cities in the world. Also one of the best to visit, so why would you give up an extra 34 hours of your life sitting in an airport lounge rather than flying directly and also being k-nackered from the schedule.

Colder than a cold iceberg (which you also get to see on my canoe trip) !

Oh and just realised 2nd 'offer' leaves Stansted, returns LHR, why would you?

Not that much extra, about £50 a day. Works out to about £3.30 per hour it saves if it's 44 hours total vs 14 hours.
Plus you've got to have two whole days off for travel. Anyone earning over £3.30 per hour it wouldn't be worth waiting.

Nice price despite the overnight layover. Only pity is that the first flight leaves from Stansted is not with Austrian (but Eurowings).

totally recommend the hotel -except for the wait for the lift!

Stayed there this summer - really great rooms but you don't come to New York for the rooms - howver £70 is bargain for this hotel - I paid £200 for four of us.

Walking distance to the WTC, Liberty, Wall St, Walls St Bull, Battery Park, etc, and also the #1 line is really close by - less than 5 mins to take you up to, Time Square, Empire, Central Park and The Rock.

You can have breakfast onsite but if on a budget or want to experience other places there are quite a few cafes around - also Dunkin Donut is right outside - they have a online survey I filled in each day to get a free donut from the receipts - saved me about $30 - did the surveys on the free internet use PCs in the lobby whilst waiting for family to get ready. Tip - buy each item seperate so you get multiple receipts and multiple online codes. If you have kids you will be pleased to get them donuts for breakfast otherwise they actually do decent tea and breakfast.

I would recommend the 24hr cafe just around the corner - Cafe De Novo - really good breakfast baps and late night food - it is very deceptive, looks scruffy but noticed all the locals went there - a good sign and the food is relatively cheap compared to the rest. Also the big one for me - they treat the customers with respect compared to other places (avoid China Town and Charleys)

Century 21 is also about ten minutes walk - big discount store for your bargains but shop in New Jersey for the better deals or Macys - Do not go to to the shopping outlet in New Jersey - I forgot its name but it is the same as Bicester Village but more expensive!

I’ve only used GoToGate before but of all the cheaper options, netflights had good reviews on line and the others it gave me the option of all had terrible reviews like bookings being cancelled or being contacted re the price going up a few days later or issues with credit cards. So I can’t really recommend any as being absolutely fine. Apparently they quote cheap prices to draw you in and then can’t fulfil with the airline. I’d usually booked direct with the airline but Virgin were £50 each more expensive so decided to try netflights. I’d got an eticket through (which I think means it’s all fine) but I’m still going to call virgin to check they have a record of the booking too.
