Cash grab be as cheap buying a ps3 and get it when its 4 quid on the store. I'll no doubt own this before 2020 draws to an end though as my addiction of buying playstation things I dont need ravishes me. Heat for the find plenty of game there.

liltman

I am the exact same! Just redownloaded the second one though and might try to finish it. I stopped close to the end I think, when I had to be forced to go collect many people for the stupid kingdom building lol. That annoyed the crap out of me! The first game is like 9/10 to for me. Second game 6/10

NaughtyDog

Ah **** here we go again... Well, when it hits £20

WaxMechaniK

Loved this game and the second too. Interested to play it again upscaled. But, it’s a minor improvement that doesn’t really warrant a re-release at this sort of price band... especially since the original was heavily reduced and also free at one point. Also, it’s worth noting that the PS3 original was cel shaded and even when played in its original form, actually looks high res. I would have expected this to be just a cheap remaster available on the PS Store...

Picked it up cheaper also, still not got round to it though and probably never will now.

Worth a play, started out a little bit slow but got more and more interesting as I played. Has a decent post game as well. Easily 60 - 80 hours of game here.

pauladam3954

I did hear somewhere that they are supposed to be making this game compatible with PS4

Raz23

It was also free with PS Plus way back in 2014 just in case some of you were subbed back then and forgot you already had it, definitely worth a look.

decent game, if you don't have a ps3, there's a remastered version coming out this year for ps4/pc/switch

Wow! This game should be half this price, even with Nintendo tax added

LukeCTI

Well, yes, you’re obviously right lol, but that was not my point. My point was that disks and cartridges are both already portable, and paying extra for the portability of a cartridge makes no sense.

adamnshame

Well that is a silly comment, a cartridge and a disk obviously aren't the same thing. 1. Cartridges don't 'skip' like disks, which is desirable for portable gaming 2. Cartridges have better read speeds than disks 3. Cartridges are more expensive to produce

YoshimiMac

To all those complaining about the price - you know if you wait a month or two, the price will come down. It's a 9 year old game, I'm sure you can wait another month or two, if you don't think it's worth £40 to you.

LukeCTI

Surely all physical games on any console are portable and you should only be paying a premium for portability on the actual portable console. (confused) A cartridge is no different to a disk.

Bought this a few years ago from PSN for £3.99. Must be one of the best RPGs I've ever played. Gorgeous visuals, great story and classic JRPG fighting system. My little ones love it and have not stopped playing since it was purchased. At this price it is worth more than every penny.

rimz790

Tbh I did borrow my brothers ps3 to play some old ps3 games that I missed out on and then all of sudden it developed the ylod! Aaarrrggghhh!

CBK

Was this ever on PS PLUS? Feel like I had it in the library but never played it. Might just buy it again anyway, looks great!

heathenmagic

Yes I do, its sometimes nice to play on an older console for a change. I guess most people are skint and prefer to trade up to a new shiny version :-/ .I still buy games for my PS3. This one is 22 GB download on PSN, wow running out of space damn lol.

ZeroBlitz

Maybe. Games like Valkyria Chronicles, Gravity Rush, Okami, Yakuza, etc. lead me to think it would still be profitable. It's in that category like Tales of Vesperia where I think there's a market for it but the devs are more interested in their next game than looking backwards so probably won't happen. Hopefully one day at least, even if it's just remastered for PC on steam or something.

Illusionary

I was initially doubting this but checking into the point, this is a fair point, actually, given than it was only 720p on PS3. While I'd certainly be up for buying a remaster too, it's probably too niche to justify that, even in the immediate wake of the sequel. Aside from the Final Fantasy series, JRPGs don't tend to see much in the way of remasters.

ZeroBlitz

It has the kind of graphics that lend themselves perfectly to remastering at a higher resolution. It would look the same except a bit sharper in 1080p/60fps. I have it on ps3 and would happily buy the remaster so I could replay it (and actually finish it) with the upscaling.

DWWM

This is a really lovely JRPG that's fairly straightforward and entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed playing it.

NaughtyDog

If ever there was a game worth dragging your PS3 down from the loft for... <3 Currently on my 3rd run through the game and it still feels so playable, even when you know exactly what’s coming!

Thanks I didn't want to get round to playing it eventually and find it wouldn't play because it couldn't verify the purchase online or something daft like that. I know the Xbox one's can be played offline just wasn't sure about the PS. Some really good PS3 games are dirt cheap now, MGS 4 for a quid in CEX!

noxeon

You don’t need to be connected to the Internet to play games, apart from multiplayer ones of course. I don’t see them dropping support for ps3 for a long time since it’s still very popular in asia, south america etc.. what happened to psp was they dropped support for ps store but you can still connect to psn and access download list, just have to buy games off the website

Jevarell

Potentially a daft question but if I download this would it work if not connected to the internet? I bought an old PS3 to play the exclusives I missed on the 360 but I worry if in the future the support for PS3 is dropped it'd stop working.

TheAmazingNoob

For a second I thought it said PS4 and it had been re-released on PS4, and then I read PS3 :( Surely Sony realise re-releasing it on PS4 is a great idea, given we're getting the sequel in just a few months?!

steviedambo

Get past the desert area and maybe dont focus too much on the side missions just yet (as they are very tedious at the start). The story becomes very enthralling after the desert/volcanic mountain bit.

There's a lot of love for this game, but I started playing it recently and am finding it a bit of a chore if I'm honest. Admittedly I'm not that far into it (the desert area), but it hasn't really gripped me yet.

It is a chilled experience with some good story telling on the way too. Some very fun characters as well.

robo989

Awww crikey...people still love this. In the year 2020 there will be one of those retrospective movements and people will finally start to admit..."you know, it wasn't really that good and I was blinded by the ghibli light" I loves Ghibli too...castle in the sky, favourite film ever. Don't love all Ghibli though, sequel to spirited away...atrocious. Anyways.... Point is, if people like this, why aren't JRPGs more popular? (We all know why, cos it's not the actual gameplay people enjoyed playing this game) No no, you are spot on with this well expressed view. There's no battle system development, it's just "attack"/"spam a set magic" There was some skill needed on the final boss but to be honest the battle system was too sluggish and incometant to require the fast movement and thinking on a regular basis. Liked the music though, nothing was that epic or heart string tugging like you'd get in a tales.

RedXI

This game is a work of art. I give it 8/10 (fyi I give FF7 9.5/10 and Just Cause 2 9/10).

Really enjoying this so far plays a lot like blue dragon. Reminds me of a cross between that and kingdom hearts

TommyNooka

I've played quite a few RPG's, wouldn't say I was a HUGE fan of them but I've played enough to know that the combat in this just doesn't feel 'right'. For instance how do I defend myself, it felt as though no matter what I did I was coming through battles with quite a bit of damage, I could see that becoming a major issue once the game got more difficult. I guess you're right and it just isn't for me but I'll probably go back to it at some point and try again.

aoe310p

Just so people are aware it is 21.7GB. Heat added.

actionmagnet

It's really not hard, it's arena a like battles like the tales series. There is a bloody long tutorial on it to, but to be fair RPGs are a genre that either grabs you or doesn't.
