I bought mine for £60 just over a year ago...think i have used it once as much prefer my kindle and clip on light as easier to get books than the faf about to get them on pc from libiary then to download them onto nook
I just called and they are showing no stock - nationally. The lady did say the odd one might be floating about so best to pop into your local store if youre in the vicinity. Shame, sounded like a bargain.
Has anyone found any of these in a London Sainsburys?, thanx. :-)

May check out my local sainsburys, I absolutely love my nook ST glowlight. Once rooted being able to use alreader to read across all android devices, as well as the page turn buttons to read one handed with either hand, it's way better than any kindle & you're not locked in to the kindle ecosystem, but can still read kindle books using the kindle app on it.

The EAN of the one I bought is 9780594514855 if that helps. However I that is colour specific (black). You can easily get codes for other colours by looking at their listings on Amazon or Barnesandnoble.com.

Since the shelf rather than individual boxes was marked reduced, to me that suggests it would be an official/national reduction... where stock still exists - so good luck!.

Hmm. Would probably fit similar-size tablets and other brand e-readers.

It won't I am afraid. There are two plastic clips that keep the Nook in place - not elasticated grips like on some other covers. This is a specific cover for the Nook. They are very good quality by the way. Got 3 Nooks on the go still so will look out for these in my local sainsburys - cheers OP.

That really is a thoughtless, if not ignorant, point of view. What you are in effect saying is that you think we all should be deciding whether to vote hot or cold on the bases of cost alone. You are overlooking the varied reasons why people vote here -- even on 'free' items. You may disapprove of what is being offered; think the item is inferior to a similar free item; know that the item is potentially dangerous; know that by asking for the free item you have to agree to receive spam; don't want to support a supplier whose products you think are unethical; the op has given the wrong information or link, etc. We make up our own minds about how we vote, you make up yours. And none of are obliged to say why we vote as we do -- that is also up to us, individually.

It is a good tablet, but not a good deal. It is 4 years old, the CPU and GPU are getting quite slow, and I never had much luck with any ROM beyond the official CM11. So while the screen is very nice, otherwise it is getting obsolete.

Cyanogenmod worked fine - at first. But it got slower and slower as time went on, practically unusable now.Save your money and get an £99 Android or Windows tablet. I went with a Linx 10 just before Xmas last year - a world of difference.

My Nook HD+ had CyanogenMod 11 and also slowed down to the point where I was about to dispose of it. Finally tried CM12.1 (the equivalent of android 5.1.1 Lollipop) and it's given it a new lease of life. Much faster and smoother browsing etc. Overall though, the Nook HD+ has had its day. The slowish CPU and 1gb memory powering a full hd screen is always going to struggle at times. Maybe worth considering as a project at £25 or so but that'about it.

this is getting VERY long in the tooth now and £99.89 buys you a lot of tablet these days so cold for me
I have one but paid this for it 2 years ago, it just isn't worth that now even if it's new. Good as a reader and CM gives it an update to 4.4 but I don't think it makes it any faster. Pity as it's a nice tablet.
It's great for watching films on the move and will support a 64GB micro-SD and sticking CyanogenMod on it does give a bit of a performance boost. But in this day an age it struggles to browse the internet / run current day apps. Also last time I looked Morgan Computers had the 16GB version for £65.

If you want a 9" plus tablet at the £100 mark I'd look at the Linx 10 or a Sony Xperia Z tablet on ebay. If you're on the brave pills then gearbest / other chinese importers have all sorts of interesting looking kit.

how do you root it . I'm new to all this fiddling with stuff

They can be awkward to root. eg you need to use a Sandisk class 4 sd card (not class 10, not another make of card). Easiest way would be to download n2acard (https://www.n2acards.com/) but you are paying for something you may be able to do for free, just takes a bit more effort.

The stock rom is terrible and makes it pretty unusable - update the OS and it improves enormously.

Edited by: "gari189" 9th Dec 2015
I had one of these. They are fairly slow as the hardware was more designed around the regular Nook HD with the lower resolution screen. It became a lot more usable with the resolution cranked down a bit, but overall for this price the selection of high quality tablets available is staggering compared to when the HD+ was new.
Bought it 3 years ago for the same price. Still one of the best screens I've used but really really slow. Tried roms and all but gave up using it in the end.
beautiful tablet, screen resolution is excellent

only downside its awfully slow and laggy now

Truly excellent and £120 for a 10" 2gb/32gb lte is a bargain. Updated to Lollipop but not clear yet if it will get marshmallow. screen is as good as my nook. No excessive bloat either. Very snappy navigation even with 20+apps running
Got one when they were 49 quid for a brand new one a few months back. They may be old spec but the screen still beats many sub £200 tablets. HOTUKDEALS LINK
The price is bad too.

You can buy it from Cex for £50 anytime with 12 months warranty.

Why would you pay double?
Even with Cyanogen ROM, when I play some game, it just freeze because 1GB RAM fully used, and the system seeze the game to release memory.

1GB RAM nowadays just not enough, not even for last year.

Whereas, with 2GB RAM from LG Gpad 8.3, the same game can run smoothly never had a problem.

Samsung Tab pro and Tab S will do a even better job.

Why would anyone want one of these even in an emergency? That's what … Why would anyone want one of these even in an emergency? That's what decent power banks are for!!

Agreed. However, a powerbank might already be drained if you're not very well organised. You can always walk into any shop and buy a couple of AA batteries if you find yourself caught out.

I've always got some AA rechargeable batteries charged around the flat somewhere, so I've got a 4 battery version of one of these. Very handy!

a_user

2 AA batts would only be 3V though, chargers are generally 5 volts...

It looks like the 2 battery version of the 4 battery one that I have, which does has a DC to DC converter and therefore gives a nice stable 5V output from 3V or less.

They're dead handy, and a bargain if only a quid, but there's some caveats:

1. In particular, if using rechargeables, note that these devices are not intelligent enough to cut out when the batteries reach 1V and could therefore deep-discharge your rechargeable batteries (which can cause them to fail early or stop them charging again.)

2. Also, they're pretty good at giving a fairly high current output and fast charging your device quick, which is a double edged sword: watch the temperature of the device and the batteries whilst in use and obviously don't leave it in the on state in your bag or pocket or anything.
