Well, mine showed up eventually. It was delivered while I was away so I'm not sure how long it took. Customs was £14.

Ah mine lasts for 2 days on pretty heavy usage. WiFi is always on and GPS. I lose about 5% overnight at an estimate.

This is what I 've got. Will do reset tomorrow, hopefully it will help, Thank you!

settings->about phone you are not doing anything wrong, battery drain is most likely system related. if you have the same version of the system, do the factory reset, should help.

Thank you for your reply. How do I check the ROM? It's showing as android is the biggest drain of the battery at 13.5%, the rest are 1apps at 1-2% each. Scanning always available was switched of, so it must be something else I am doing wrong :(

I'm not arguing yet, but simply laying out facts (with links) and waiting for you to show (with links) which of my facts you dispute. You seem unable to do that, it's sad that there are people who will blindly defend cheap Chinese phone manufacturers simply because it lets them buy cheap Chinese phones....

Naive people like xx123 think that they only need to worry about other ("bad", says the media) governments spying on them. Wake up.

Well, as I've said Huawei infrastructure equipment is considered safe in the UK (due to GCHQ overwatch of all Huawei network infrastructure being brought into the country) and ZTE is banned from supplying infrastructure. So which of those are you disputing? Its also well known that ZTE is a state owned company and the founder of Huawei is an ex senior officer in the Chinese Army's Information Technology Research unit, the actual ownership of Huawei is virtually unknown other than that. Unless you have different info you'd like to share?

Coincidentally, they're not. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-23355950 https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/uk/gchq-oversight-of-huawei-increases-29846069.html https://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/2018/02/20/uk-cyber-security-agency-sticks-chinas-huawei-despite-us-spy/ https://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/12/17/gchq_spooks_told_break_huaweis_grip_on_critical_uk_antivuln_cell/ https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/04/16/zte_gchq_warning/ https://www.zdnet.com/article/uk-telcos-warned-on-use-of-zte-equipment-report/ http://www.afr.com/news/chinese-telco-zte-on-australian-spy-agencies-radar-after-uk-us-bans-20180418-h0yxlq https://www.caixinglobal.com/2018-02-26/australia-defense-department-hangs-up-on-huawei-zte-101214157.html

Huawei is the BT preferred brand for Fibre enabled exchanges, their equipment is much faster and more stable than the only other brand of equipment BT uses. So the only way to avoid their equipment, if you are worried about the Chinese spying on you; is to stay off of the internet. (bye!!)

Just a tiny island! (cheeky) Its not just us that needs band 20, there are lots that need it to get full coverage. How much its used is another story as the networks restrict VoLTE use for example to a limited selection of phones.

Turns out that band 20 is a bit niche and we're not very important as a country

I think they have just posted the wrong spec at the bottom of the page, the title and pictures both say global version, so it probably is the global version.

Dont ask why "some" and "models" is one word; I have edited it twice, and put several spaces between the two words, but it keeps reverting.

As I have tried to explain many times, Global means OS ROM other than Chinese, and the inclusion of the Google Play Store; then they have two physical versions of some models, with a lower spec for the Chinese mainland market.. This could be a flashed Chinese version, as the genuine Global version of the snapdragon powered phone HAS Band 20 (I have one sat next to me); either that, or the sellers has posted the wrong spec list (which happens a lot, as most of them cannot actually read English). They dont currently have the Chinese ROM version for sale, so I cannot check to see if it is the latter. Until recently, customs werent an issue, but my last phone via this seller was stopped by customs, so they might be cracking down. On the other hand, the charge was £4, plus £8 handling fee from the Post Office.

Wouldn't buy a Xiaomi phone from AliExpress ever again- they are useless at resolving issues. Avoid!

If you ever buy another Xiaomi, I'd recommend an Android One model, like the Mi A1 (or the upcoming Mi A2). They have (& will have) pure Android (no skins, overlays or bloatware of any kind) with regular updates directly from Google for at least 2 years.

I really wouldn't recommend this phone. I've had it for more than a year. After about 7 months the audio jack quit working. The mic only records garbled sound if you take videos (voice messages are still okay) and the screen cracks quite easily if you don't have it in a case. There are sometimes software issues and there's something called Kika Keyboard inside that you can't uninstall and sometimes goes on update request sprees. I also had a problem with the SC weather app you don't seem to be able to uninstall.

That flash sale just keeps on going! The phone has actually been as low as 106 quid recently and as much as 145. Got to time it right lol. A LOT of phone for the money, no Band 20 but has NFC. Second phone arrived today, £14.85. I'm sure they make it up as they go along!

I ordered the 5 plus with a mi band £140 middle of Feb it was in the uk 17 days later and has been returned to sender i have to wait another 5 days before the order is cancelled before i can get my money back

Yeh apparently They have got Stricter a few months ago , before it was random picking parcels,. Now they are taking time checking all or if not most of the parcels.

Ordered two of these the last time they were on offer and one arrived a couple of weeks later, after I collected from the post office with a £12.85 customs charge, and the other one has been in the UK since the 8th. Never had this with any of the stiff I've ordered from China before :/ Anyone else had any similar experiences lately?

In daylight the camera is fine, it's low light where it suffers.

Yep. Typically Xiaomi phones are 16gb ROM / 2gb ram, 32gb / 3gb and 64gb / 4gb.

Some shops say the Redmi note 4 is 3gb, others 4gb Ram. Does it come in both variations?

Mine one works perfect as well.

My redmi note 4 has issues with screen too. Although it wasnt cracked and touch still worked the display had gone. Now the phone is completely unresponsive except the red blink on right top of the screen when on usb charging mode. Thats all. I contacted Xiaomi but they wanted me to send it to Poland as the warranty is still on. I am concerned for the data more than the phone itself but they want me to wipe all data and send it. I would like to ask, have you done the screen replacement yourself? If yes can you recommend a link where I can buy a replacement screen as i am planning to do it myself. I am concerned to buy the right one as note 4 and 4x are quite similar. Thanks

Apart from calls i primarily use my note 4 as a sat nav,and it has yet to let me down

Just a small info that should embarras a lot of 'high end', 'reputable' ' non China phone' manufacturers - Xiaomi just released a new miui 9 stable for 21 of their phone models, some of them are 4 years old ( yep, without crippling them down or killing battery life).Ok ,it's heavily modified android 7, not Oreo but still, unheard of.

Should I stay with my Moto X Style (I love it) or ditch it and buy this?

i take it this doesnt do nfc/android or apple pay payments ? which one does theres a few xiaomi phones on hotudeals just now ?

I dont know why they continue to use these cpus as they over heat in seconds and that makes it basically unusable. Even some of the sellers on aliexpress tell you to pick something else.Puzzling why they then continue to sell them if they advise against buying them. If you use battery saver and/or an app to throttle the cpu way down it will work but of course slowly compared to a snapdragon version. So no point if they are the same price.

I have this phone which I ordered from banggood for the price it's an OK Phone, Good points Battery is fine Cameras are ok Screen is nice I've not encountered any software issues and I had a few updates since I've had it Bad points No quick charge No USB type C Average cameras but then again who buys a phone for the camera!

Do yourself a favour and don't buy this buggy piece of junk. Technically it's faster than the snapdragon version, for about 30 seconds until it overheats and throttles itself to be much slower, the battery life is also half that of the SD version, also no real updates either official or unofficial, stuck on Android 6, the SD is on 7 and has plenty of unofficial roms on 8.1. MTK are junk and best avoided. The SD version is fantastic though, great phone, only paid about £130 for my 4GB/64GB one last June as well and has occasionally been cheaper.

Well buying a house isn't the same as buying a phone. If they can't afford a overpriced phone then they should buy a phone that they can afford, there's tons of different price ranges with phones, I don't see the need of spending so much if all your going to do with it is Facebook and YouTube, it's a waste to use a Powerful phone for Social Media You can live without a phone you can't really live without a house

Anything from a store is still gonna be around £800+. So not cheaper.

At least you’ll be able to call, text or message them on that flashy phone. Maybe not PayPal credit then but something similar, just some kind of monthly instalment plan or credit of sorts

The phone outright on PayPal credit would still be around £800+ and then the sim. That works out almost the same. I personally buy my phones outright and I'm getting the note 8 for £600 + sim only (probably get BT) then it's much cheaper. But on PP credit, not worth it in my opinion.

Ahhhhhhh, thanx for that. :-) I recall hearing a similar story in the wind to that some year's back ... (I've since forgotten that obviously). So looks like people in this Country - who do HEAVY orders from various Chinese sites that is (myself at time's included?!, lol), to be kind of more on the ball when it comes to these things then or something?. By say some weeks beforehand/that moment in time, etc ... The over excessive advertising of Chinese New Year is very much in the Media even here too like? (so a casual/slight 'nudge' in that regard, is more than just going to be ahead of us all here regardless I guess?, hehehe). :-D

Does anyone have any sort of discount codes for GearBest, for this Xiaomi phone, etc? (to bring the current more expensive cost down too), or ... Thanx. :-)

Good nuts and bolts breakdown there. :-D

I've been told the country comes to a standstill for a few weeks approx 3 so there will be delays to orders.

They should have Google services preinstalled. What I meant was Google camera from pixel 2, where it has portrait mode etc ... The pixel 2 Google camera app is awesome and the pictures can come out looking like the background is blurred but the person in the foreground looks perfectly focused....

((We are extremely sorry to inform that the package has been returned by your local post office because your shipping address was incomplete or the package has been unclaimed at the post office.)) they said the package was returned by my local post office when the package hasn't even arrived in the UK yet,the online tracking says so too & they said they will deduct the return postage cost out of my refund if i choose full refund instead of store credit!!!

maybe it's to do with time of the year,i will give it a week & hopefully tracking will be updated by then. @SClub maybe you are right about stock,i too ordered a miband 2 twice from them & i don't remember delivery time was too long. personally i prefer to use Gearbest over Ali Express for the fact they accept paypal which offers me better protection than my useless credit card company even though it's only for 6 months i still feel safer with paypal but i must give credit to Ali Express payment system as they won't release money to sellers unless item is confirmed delivered but this is where their good service ends if the item breaks down even 1 day after been confirmed delivered you are at the mercy of the seller where with paypal (Gearbest) you have 6 months of protection. thanks

They are probably out of stock. The Gearbest countdown of items remaining is usually made up in my experience! They tend do get stock in reguarly though, so hopefully you aren't forced to wait too long. I think the longest I ever waited was for a MiBand 2, which took just over a month to arrive. Plus the two watches I ordered in November (but the total value was less than 5 quid, so they are probably being delivered by sea cucumber or something... Good luck!

Got my refund from Paypal, great service from them. Bit the bullet and ended up getting a Moto 4X from CPW for £199 with £10 cash back which has tracked so not too bad. Ordered on Tuesday and delivered on Wednesday. Nice phone, Snapdragon 630 so not too slow just getting used to the jump from M to N and getting setup how I want it :) a few gremlins at the moment but I need to do an update when next on wifi which I think should sort them. Won't be using Gearbest again and the moral of the story is the insurance is a scam and not worth the paper it's written on. They offered me a $159 refund which translated to £115 so a fiver less than I paid and I expect it would have been even less if I'd accepted as there would probably been currency exchange charges. Not to mention the over two months they had the cash!

I'm looking at the Note 5 Pro too looks excellent for the money, not in stock anywhere yet though. I didn't realise no B20... It's not that important for me but I like having it in case I switch provider.

Lots of Xiaomi threads and posters recounting their experience of not having Band 20. Proof is in the experience of using the phone. And the more tech-savvy posters have explained what B20 is and how/why it's used etc.

Unfortunately that may not be correct - no issues that they know of - they may have had a better experience with band 20. Bit like the person with free AV who argues that it is as good as a paid solution - very difficult to prove if that is correct.

Thanks, useful info :)

It's a reference to the band oasis, but I've thought that myself to be fair.
