Anyone point me in the direction of a decent pair with Prizm glasses (decently priced) - really after a pair for Driving and everyday usage (not any particular sport)
Buying a Chinese no name brand off eBay vs a very good brand made in China is completely different.

See my earlier post.

These likely are made in China. But customer service is great, PRIZM lenses are unrivalled at least for the price, and there's a massive quality difference.

People seem to forget about design and customer service, and that even the same factory or manufacturer can produce varying grades of goods for different brands.

I got some PRIZM Oakley's thanks to a post on this site and they're fantastic and much better than the cheaper sunglasses I got before (with not much price difference really - £20 or £30 from TK Maxx vs £45 or £55 from sunglasses shop)

Normally if you get something nice you take better care of it. I'm certainly far more careful with my Oakleys than my old sunglasses. I worry about them sometimes, but I don't mind. It's nice to have something you value.

Other people are probably more careful and this doesn't apply, making your point moot. Bit bizarre to suggest other people are as careless as you so shouldn't get nice stuff. The same would apply to watches, clothes etc.Getting cheap chinese shades off eBay sounds like a bad idea if you care about your eyes and eyesight.I'd at least get some CE marked sunglasses form a respectable retailer. E.g. from Boots for £10

I am sure I'm not the only one that is abit careless with sunglasses, a watch is different as it is securely attached to your arm. These are probs made in China, and most of the ebay cheapies are UV400 or whatever other standard, and I believe them as it's not hard to do and they make branded glasses anyway.

I have had £80 raybans, but they are no better than Chinese copies. Had some Official Mercedes ones that were only £20 on offer, they had a nice lens, but I am sure with abit of searching and afew different purchases I could find Chinese ones just as good.

20 years ago maybe Chinese stuff was rubbish, but now they make smartphones and tyres that are just as good or nearly as good as the big established brands. And its all a fraction of the price due to cheap labour (which is harsh and wrong, but everyone is involved in it, primark to apple) and massive economies of scale.

I would agree, I have a couple of pairs of these amazon.co.uk/dp/…U3O while I can't confirm a 60mph impact (and thier "saftey" status I cant see validated) they have certainly protected me on the commute run, snow boarding, light down hill and weed whacking and for less than a it would cost to get a pack of tear off lens protectors. Yeah not convinced myself but if someone wants them this is about the cheapest place to get them. Had the orokr and orokr pro a few years ago, personally I found them really handy the only downside was the Bluetooth back then wasn't as good, kept cutting out. Battery life wasn't spectacular either but they fit well and sound was good

Wasted opportunity. They should have partnered up with Garmin and brought out a properly good Oakley Varia pair. Who wants to train to Oakleys half arsed voice activated proprietary system?

Some super casual?

It's a cynical cash grab. Shame, as there is loads of room here at the moment where Oakley could make themselves known before all the big players start to dominate.

For anyone interested they have discounted some of the models further. The ones pictured in this post are now only £38, and others reduced too.
I believe a specsavers re-glassing fee is only around £20. May be wrong, but I asked about it before as I'd chipped some some half rimmed glasses and they didn't have the frame I liked and had for those glasses - as it wasn't much for a re-glassing I think. Having said that, I imagine re-glassing plus basic lenses will be around £20 + £40, so you're looking at around £120 at least for some Oakley's done that way I think.
Unfortunately supplying your own frame for glassing doesn't work out any better, as the rip off merchants otherwise known as opticians will always charge an extra "re-glassing" charge to make up for the money they would have made out of you had you bought the frame from them.
Seems pretty good price to me, don't mind the paupers voting cold.
How do I get lenses for these glasses if I purchased them, I reckon it'll hard and expensive?
