What do you recommend that can do what this does with nothing more required with this quality that costs less that I can use now?
Oh
I wouldn't waste any money on this outdated technology that will not be relevant soon. The oculus quest should be getting a version 2 soon
This is perfect for watching media, like taking your couch or bed to the imax cinema, gaming wise it is fine for seated sim vr games, if you have a PC that can do VR then you can stream VR games to it like Elite Dangerous and Dirt rally, works great with PBFX VR, and the lens are very good indeed, and the weight is also good, and nothing even close to the breeze block that is the quest straped onto your face. lol
You're right, that was a very detailed and accurate post from CMHammond - nice one. For what it's worth, I think you've made the right decision. I had the Gear VR with a flagship Samsung and was wholly disappointed with VR in general thinking we're years and years from a useable solution. When a friend recommended the Quest, I got one on a whim without much expectation. I have to say I was absolutely blown away by it. At £400 they are amazing value. However, they are beyond some people's budget. If the Go is within your reach, get it. My advice to anyone who can't afford the Go would be wait until you can. Phone based VR will give you the wrong impression of the technology.

I'm not as blind as you Brian. Wake up dream boy.
Hmmm I am curious on how you stumbled upon the VR game deals section when you aren't playing. Side note gutted I missed this one.
Excellent party-game, been enjoying it during the lockdown. I'd say it is worth a tenner if you can get together at least 3 people who'd join in being the 'squirrels' on the companion mobile game. XD
Ok, so that's Billy no-mates compensating.
Yeah we all get online together and have a right laugh now we know grumpy guts' is thrown in the cupboard.

Just remember with the Quest you also don't need a PC or set up sensors. Bottom line, save up and get the Quest. It's more expensive but as everyone is saying, it is is worth it. I bought one used from eBay for about 320 quid but unfortunately it developed a fault and had to go back. Try finding one for less than 400 now.
Depends what you want to do really. I have the Go, as a non -gamer I bought it just to relieve the boredom of lockdown, and it’s a lot of fun. It’s a good way to try out VR and you don’t need to connect to a PC or set up sensors etc. If you’re into gaming etc I suspect you’d be better off as others have suggested and save up for the quest.
I had one for a couple of years, sold it and got an oculus quest. they are still pretty good for watching films and playing games though but the quest can plug into a pc via oculus link or sidequest. Also the oculus go steamed up for the first five minutes when using it but the quest doesn’t at all.
Put the money towards an Oculus Quest because that's what you'll end up wanting in the end.I was in Bigscreen the other night with a good few people I met on the Oculus Go and everyone of them where saving up or getting the Quest version instead.
Does anyone have one of these? Are they any good, is it worth buying one??

Has anyone’s been dispatched? Mine is yet to be.
I have two, great fun!
It's the Internet. So not in the least bit surprising.
Buy a long usb charging cable Iof ebay. 3 metre lead was 2.99 great for films netflix etc in bed.
sesh I have a long usb cable that I use, but it’s a shame the battery doesn’t last longer

Recieved it Friday..... wow mind blown !! What w fantastic bit of kit ....shame about the poor battery life
it is in short supply some shops but Oculus own website has it with free delivery
Hopefully people see this and don't expect to be able to play full on VR games
No it only has one controller which doesnt have the tracking like the rift/quest controllers. This is for more VR content like videos and experiences, and not really for games. It looks and feels 100x better than a phone VR though
can it be used with steam games?

You'll get extra sharpness on the Go over a Galaxy phone + Gear VR due to the subpixel layout. You'd have to use a cheap vr phone holder with a Sony phone which is a far inferior experience to using a Go - i doubt there are any available with Oculus quality level optics.
The clarity in vr also depends on the layout of subpixels (RGB stripe vs pentile) with the difference resulting in the extra sharpness on the Go over Galaxy phones.
You can make a vr headset simulator out of 2 toilet rolls (to limit fov) and some mesh (for screen door effect) and a rubber band (to hold it on your head) Wear that while banging your girl in real life for a while, then it will seem normal
I'm pretty sure they have already announced its at end of life now
Bought mine a few months back £150 primarily for 180° 3D entertainment ;) videos. After the initial wow factor of feeling I'm really there in amongst the action, you quickly adapt to it and the limitations such as low field of view and screen door effect becomes much more apparent.

Good deal, for a great product. Watching Netflix on this is amazing!
If you have a PC and run SteamLink on the Go then yes, Google for experiences doing this. It’s mainly a very nice 3D/360/180 media device and simple VR gaming platform and a really friction free way of trying *good* VR. I had a Windows Mixed Reality set, tried a GO when setting up for a relatives a Christmas present and loved wirefree VR so much I bought a Quest.
They really aren't totally different products. If you think differenty, you probably should go into detail. By and large, they do the same thing, it just the Quest does it far better in every way, albeit for lots more money. Once you've gone 6DOF, anything less just doesn't cut it. The same goes for having no wires when compared to PCVR.
So, out of interest, how would you watch a movie on this?
Interesting. Why is the Go better for watching media ?

Completely different markets, the Go is aimed at playing media (porn if we are honest) with very basic games. The Quest is aimed at casual gamers.
Pretty decent summary. I'd say the PSVR/PS Pro is the best i've used. Yes the Rift S looked a bit sharper with a GTX1080 and the touch controllers are great but the Sony is by far the most comfortable headset and i'd trade the lower resolution panel and graphics any day over the god rays/rings on every other headset. Obviously to use the Quest with PC you still need a graphics card capable of running VR.
What’s the difference and is this better than the ps v set up?
Waste of money. Get the Quest instead. It's well worth the extra ££
Yeah fair enough, it’s usually the 32gb gets posted, then the 64gb gets a mention in the comments. You might find people view this as standard price now though because it’s widely available at that price - so therefore vote it cold.

Copying my comment from a previous deal for this: FYI - The Oculus Go is a 3DoF headset - this means it can't track position, so rotation only. This means you can't play games like Beat Saber or SUPERHOT, or most of the games you'll think of if you're thinking of 'VR games' you've seen. The Oculus Quest is a standalone headset that can, but that will run you about £400. This is more like a high quality GearVR or Google Cardboard (but you don't need to put a phone in it) - it's great for 3d 360 video, but it's a very different experience to VR headsets like the Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, HTC Vive, etc. Be aware of what you're buying! If you're buying this as a gift for someone that's asked for a VR headset, this probably isn't what they meant :(
Nope. Free delivery. OCUK are doing that now on some items.
Waste of money. Get the Quest instead.
I’ve got the oculus Quest and would advise just save your money and go for that
I really like mine, nice easy to use alternative to my proper vr. Have found a few really fun, pick up n play games, all either very cheap or free. And some nice chill out apps. Worth it for me.

Haha - you think you said something good? How odd.
Yup you are as predictable as I thought. You got nothing good to say? Say nothing. Lesson learned. Good boy.
Don't know. Nice one.
I don't know - I'm not a retailer. But it is inevitable. With the Quest out these just don't cut it at all.
When?

True. There are two issues actually. Limited battery life and device heating up requiring a pause for several minutes. For battery life there is a workaround in the form of hooking upa battery pack (powerbank) but that's not ideal ofcourse. A number of YouTube videos available. As a media player and especially for 3D, this is absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, for a movie lasting more than 2 hours, the battery is a limitation. All in all, the Go is a limited gaming device but as a media player, very easily worth £140. For 3D, it beats the Quest hands down.
Watched a couple of teaser videos like the Sky Anthony Joshua fight, which I agree the resolution is low and the picture blurry. But then I’ve looked at stuff that looks much sharper too like the Disney Coco demo. So I think it depends on whether it’s live footage or programmed and also probable depends a lot on the cameras used and broadcasters presentation format. I didn’t take the comment too literally, I took it as read, like many would. It simply wasn’t a true statement, and I am knowledgable enough to call that out for people who aren’t. I’m not going to comment further as the deal has been voted up enough times to justify the stance it’s a worthwhile purchase at this price. Appreciate the debate and the fact you have tried to explain an alternative point of view (y) .
I picked up one of these in the end. Only tried Skybox really. For a movie buff like me the 3D effect in your own cinema on it is worth the money alone. The big problem though is battery life. I think I had the Go charged to 100% but after around 5 minutes of watching 3D Toy Story 4 from my NAS with Skybox I think it had dropped to 82%. Hopefully I'm wrong and it wasn't initially at 100% but I'll pay closer attention from now on. Such a shame about the battery life if true....
Maybe you just took it too literally. After all, it's impossible to say whether 144p on a 75" screen is comparable or not, since it depends what distance you are away from the TV. As the only way to compare with VR is when you take the field of view into account. Even 144p on a 75" TV becomes "retina" and the resolution indistinguishable at some distance away! I think they were simply saying it's quite blurry. But if you think it's not, that's fine, that's what the comments are for - people to present their views for and against.
I have no issue that the novelty wears off for some people, this is the same for many consumer electronics items. Personally at the point I stop using something it goes on eBay to raise cash towards the next piece of tech I want to try, but that’s just me. Also, the fact my kids haven’t had these devices for long has no bearing on my experience with VR or consumer electronics in general. And... I have no issue with people presenting a positive or negative case against a purchase. But I think the statement made should be a fair and honest reflection - not some made up garbage that massively exaggerates a point to dissuade others from buying something they might find perfectly suitable for their needs or of sufficient value add given the price paid. Like watching YouTube at 144p on a 75” screen was a complete exaggeration - I just wanted people to know.

Can anyone request a headset around 200 quid? Or is the go best at the price range?
Are the graphics on the Quest much better than the Go? And the resolution of games/media better also? Thanks
Thought was a professional comparison chart until I see the section titled 'graphics realism (caused by what runs it)' and then I'm confident Ali g knocked it up on paint.
Haha. Smother meeeee
Having had both I’d take a Quest any day. It’s absolutely amazing.

This will go brilliantly with https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/fleshlight-used-open-box-like-new-3656-at-amazon-warehouse-2668594
I have to agree, every individual I've met who hear I had a Gear VR immediately asked what the adult content is like. I don't use mine for this purpose but it seems to be the main purpose
As stated previouly. These things are very popular for VR porn. So in effect, you are probably buying a 2nd hand sex toy. Ewwwww
Guys this isn't a deal at all. The whole device has deep scratches, most likely including the headset lens
As others have said, this is for those in the market for smut screening only. And I totally recommend it.

some good youtube vids on it. depends what you like/want. about 1k aps ive heard
Any folk suggest any MUST HAVE apps / games for Oculus GO ?
Just currently trying the father in law's Go at the min. Doesn't feel too heavy on the ole boatrace. Tried a few dinosaur apps on there so far....all ok. Just streamed some 3d (Avatar) from WD my cloud (Dnla) & works seemless. Currently on charge again for s go @ games, but unsure what to expect .
available at the time of posting for 149 on amazon so it bought there
took my order, then send an email saying my details were wrong - they werent checked and online they are now out of stock. im guessing they took too many orders poor show

This product is pretty redundant.
It is easy to link to a reasonable PC (eg. an I3 7000 series) using Virtual Desktop. However if you try to stream something with DRM like NOW TV, it doesn't work. There are good native apps for Netflix and Amazon Prime that don't need a connection to a PC. You can also tuck a small powerbank into the top of the strap using a small USB extension lead, which also helps to minimize wear of the Micro USB socket on the device. 2 hours of watching a film on internal battery is probably enough though.
what games do you recommend? Besides Dead and Buried the rest of the free games I've tried aren't great.
That was one looooong sentence. My mind is out of breath.
Having owned PSVR, crappy mobile VRs and now this, I'd say this is the best for be video. Absolutely not a gaming platform though, and the fabric around the visor rubs my face red so the Mrs can literally see me red faced after I've snuck off for ten mins to play the role of the mute, perfectly still ripped dude in another poorly performed smut vid.

You wont get the cashback if you cancel the contract with O2
Not on the 5g model
Thanks to everyone. I have just brought one. And went through the top cashback and got £80 cashback as well (lol) (lol) . Super happy
Has anyone bought this and used with Three?
Yes they'll be unlocked. See: https://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-sims-and-devices/unlocking-an-o2-mobile-to-use-on-a-different-network

OOS now
From a few comments I think this is £50 credit towards your second purchase though. Thanks anyway (y)
Try this but I did not get a chance to try it out PAQ96 You might be able to use both codes at the same time. This i the link i found: https://www.hotukdeals.com/vouchers/50-off-100-3327249?page=4#thread-comments
What's the £50 off code? Never used Very before so would I be eligible to use it against the?
Why would you not use the £50 off code if it's your first credit order?

I think you have a very different idea of the meaning budget.
The big grey man hath spoken ;)
For anyone who wishes to do any VR gaming I'd highly recommend a Quest over the Go. If you're purchasing purely for watching media then the Go is the best bang for your buck.
Yeah I realised as soon as I posted it was same price as amazon. Noob mistake (highfive)
Who told you that nonsense? It's £150 because Oculus are running a Black Friday promotion. The Go still has a few advantages over the Quest/Rift or any other headset. It's cheap, extremely comfortable, fits anyone and is great for watching video. This is not a deal however as Scan (as usual) are taking the pee.

Hi Adam, I'm still lost. What can I do with it exactly? Stream movies from phone?
I just bought a quest - you need a phone to set up, but then it's totally wireless, nothing else required.
They are with Amazon (lol)
As a complete noob to VR, I understand there are 2 levels (Go & Quest), but what exactly can I use these for? Do I need a PC, Laptop?
This device is most likely not going to be supported for much longer.
No more apps for the go will be accepted after the 4th December 2020 on their store plus they will stop fully supporting 2022. Even Oculus have stopped selling the Go's
Great for watching movies however the brand new price of £249 is completely unreasonable. For £50 extra you can get a Quest 2 which is real VR. I would not pay more than £125 for a Go. Your experience will be really really limited compared to what full VR can do.
