Here's a cheeky Seamaster deal....
ezzer72

Bracelet/strap material has a tiny impact on the value of a watch - that really isn't what you are paying for;

Kratos69

I know what you mean, I think this and the speedy and definitely two of my favourite omega models. Some decent deals popping up on them lately too.

Mabbs

I've thought about the black dial version for a long time, buy the helium escape vial is what has stopped me going for it.

Kratos69

That’s a good deal. They’d scrap that shipping fee too if you asked and I bet you can get him to 3k!

Dominic_Tucker

Very good price and won’t depreciate, shame it just doesn’t suit me

I rest my case, m'lud.

Martin_W

No i dont... And drivel. Again i googled. I answered someone. And then a barrage of responses from people whose panties got twisted. The ppl on this app are toxic. Im sorry i can tap my phone screen and get pinpoint accurate synced time. Im sorry that this old tech feels relevant to you. Stinking up your wrists. Im sorry that you all took offense to the "perceived price" bit that came up in google. Im sorry that i at least looked for some information about the product while you decided to do what Trump would do. Attack me as a person. Genius...

spatter

I posted this watch and I wouldn't buy it! But someone else did and got a bargain.

Rickardo

I've had a mobile phone since 1998 - not the same one, of course, although it is the same number! However, I continue to wear a watch and always will (granted, not these types of watches).

I’d imagine this to be fine as it isn’t actually in a sale seen as the code dosent work on omega. It’s shoddy they do that with their sale watches, no excuse not to have a competent computer system to check stock.

LOL_is_stupid

Were you the guy that left a review saying pretty much the same on the page for an Aqua Terra? If so, nice one. They do this a lot.

Carpetbagger

I like the watch though.

kknight01

If you ordered this, dont expect it to arrive. Instead, expect a dent in your credit report (if you applied for the interest free finance) and an email (if your lucky) from good old Ernest, telling you it is not in stock (yet it is on their website, and now back at full price).

howbord

My insurance is due for renewal in 5 weeks so will see what they come up with this time, although i do tend to switch companies most years to get the best price.

spatter

I hate insurance and have none except the mandatory stuff. They NEVER lose.

SpeakEnglish

Well I pay £168 a year for buildings and contents with More Than, our house is worth around 300K and as you can see below the single article limit is a grand. Around this time last year I asked them how much extra it would cost to fully cover my two Seamasters worth £8000 and £4000 respectively, my platinum wedding band worth around £1200, the wife's Datejust worth £7000, her engagement + wedding rings worth around £7000 combined over the course of 12 months it would actually have more than quadrupled our premium (horror) I ended up going with some firm called Ripe Insurance who specialise in valuables, I think they're brokers and with them it worked out less than half of what More Than wanted.

howbord

You got me wondering so i have just checked and as you can see my watch is definitely listed on my policy, I cant tell exactly how much it cost but if i tell you the entire policy - building, contents and the watch was £148 you can see it couldnt have been much (£8 was what both me and mrs seem to remember)

I’ve been told by a couple of watch dealers now that if you watch doesn’t have an original Omega part or strap it can devalue your watch from a few hundred pounds to thousands depending on model. Each has a serial number that is traceable in what original spec it was sold. I know someone that changed the dial face an lost over a thousand pounds as it was now blue and not the original black...ce la vie...

Indeed they are and funnily enough I called the jewellers/AD yesterday. I ended up chatting to the manager for over half an hour, totally social rather than business, which shows I've built a decent relationship with him. I gave him my Seamaster 007 Commander watch before lockdown to raise most of the cost of the Planet Ocean and it would appear he's going to return me more than I paid for it so I'll more than happy with that. I used to like the Hestalite on my old one, I like the blue haze in certain lights. However I prefer to buy a watch I can wear day in day out and not worry about scratches.

Craccer

I get that. For me I want it as close as possible, even though it is a replica... Like a football shirt. For me the glass is part of that original story of passing the stringent tests where others failed. I get the not wearing it, it's quite an investment given its a manual wind... Not one you can just chuck on an leave the house. With that in mind, though, if you're seeing it as an everyday watch and you're prone to bumps and scratches then it may save you some emotional heartache getting the sapphire. As I said, I'd personally rather it scratched and polished it out or replaced, but I totally understand why someone might want to not have to worry about that

peter1969uk

Each to their own as you say, but personally unless you have the original Buzz Aldrins watch (first on the moon) then you only have a replica. I did have one, don't get me wrong it was an early one, but ended up selling because I never got around to wearing it.

peter1969uk

That's because they are independent of Omega. This list will help you find a local Horologist, prices will vary. https://bhi.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Accredited-Register-WATCHES-080620.pdf

Alansmithee

I think Omega don't bother because unless I'm misremembering they do not sell any quartz watches anymore (I do have a quartz Seamaster...)

coolio28

Yeah that’s odd, I thought if it’s auto they should have automatic on dial. Tbh I think they should get rid of auto wording. I mean any watch enthusiasts should be able to tell the difference by looking at quartz & auto movement.

jasee

But this one doesn't, I don't think. Aren't all watches nowadays automatic? They don't need winding :) What a pleb like me likes is a spring reserve hand. Now that needs to be explained to the unitiated :)

I like the white face for the fact it is quite low key and you can dress it up with a smart strap although my suit wearing days are long gone. I travel a lot so it fits in perfectly with my life & what I wanted. I tried on the Tudor BB & a couple more of there models. I know Tudor has a great name but the Omega's just felt & looked better quality to me anyway. I am really happy with my Omega & the fact is was only £2700 in the sale but I appreciate we all have different needs/tastes. Good luck with your choice

markelock

I fancy the bb gmt, although understand it had date changing issues up until this year. Tudors seem to hold value a little better in my very limited opinion. Having said that I have a globemaster and aqua terra from this site to view on Tuesday...

Rudz

I got my watch delivered today, I was a bit underwhelmed by the white dial, it doesn't scream luxury, In a bit of a quandry as to what to do, the price is excellent (no other jeweller could even come close), I got it on 0% for 60 months, so can't fault the deal At the sametime I got a call from my local AD saying they had the Tudor Black Bay 58 in bracelet available and asked me if I was interested ? it's the same price as this really or should I get another Aqua Terra in a different colour perhaps (Blue/Black) are on sale as well ? What are people's thoughts on BB58 vs Aqua Terra ?

hobbsie65

Yep it's 20mm - the Nato looks great as well especially this one

Rudz

looks lovely, I want to get a Nato or a canvas strap for the watch, I love the casual look Is it a 20mm strap that you've got on hobbsie ? I wasnt sure if the lug width was 19 or 20mm ?

Noo, why we don't just leave the communism apart? It was a fail, I know, but this is the best excuse for a system to survive, despite being as wrong as that. Unfortunately, you blame people in the UK, who work for their money. For the hardships in certain African states. I've travelled a lot with work and spent a lot of time working in Africa. The main reason Africa is poor is due to corruption. Yes 1st world companies have taken advantage of this, but a lot of money has gone into providing better living. Unfortunately the people who should receive the benefits don't because everyone above them is taking their share until nothing is left. I flew into Port Gentil, Gabon. My suitcase went missing and I was there for a month. One of the local guys took me to a charrity place, where clothes in the UK are donated. They actually sell them to the local shops, and profit the money. Sort corruption out in many countries, and the rest will start falling in place.

These look like good deals vs when I do a quick price check. Though to be fair, watchfinder is a Swatch Group subsidiary these days... https://www.watchfinder.co.uk/mens-watches?filterBrands=Omega&filterSeries=Speedmaster&orderby=BestMatch Does anyone know how Costco sources these watches? Is this a case of Swatch group flogging off excess inventory through Costco as an "unauthorised dealer"?

Adam131

I did it 3 weeks ago for a tudor pelagos. Offered to buy a tudor pelagos £3,440 and managed to get them down to £3000 over the phone as I was a cash buyer and bought same day no messing around. I belive I could have got more off the asking price as well in the end purchased with work vouchers saving an extra 8.5% so paid £2,775 some of these watches are selling more than that used on eBay. Dealers do want to make a deal but if you want 0% finance you will not be able to negotiate a price they don't have margins to do so.

FooM

This is a decent enough deal but as others have mentioned you should be able to get 20% discount at an AD if you shop around. If the BB58 is the best watch under £3000 then this is surely the best under £4000. I'm also sure it won't be long before Omega upgrades the basic moonwatch model with the 3861 and raises prices accordingly, so don't hang about if you want one at this price!

Moley_

You can add the odd Baume & Mercier and U Boat to that list.

W77

That makes a difference, Omega give 5 years on new watches so losing that is a big factor. Still a great price for a great watch.
