Just seen this on Amazon! Never tried these bars before but at this price I took the jump for my kids lunchboxes. looks like there’s other flavours at this price too
Shinoke

They're still high in sugar because they're around half dates, but yeah, cretainly a better alternative to traditional snack bars and I agree with the rest.

aau1

49p in home bargains 2 for £1 in Asda and Tesco I'd rather get a variety from these other places than bulk buy one flavour

hearts22

Heat added. They're not protein bars and don't try to be so voting cold because of that is (annoyed) They're actually a good alternative to sugar-laden bars for when you want something sweet. They have no added sugar or dodgy stuff. That's all they are and they do the job IMO.

aMagicalPotato

That's even worse value... 70p a bar with the delivery charge Did you even check the price before posting your comment???

Shinoke

These aren't protein bars - so that's a moot point. They're very tasty But you can often get these for 50 pence in the supermarket, and it's a ridiculous quantity.

Can't get the Aldi one .

misterleoni

I was thinking that. Don’t personally care all that much about palm oil but surely paying more for less peanut is just daft.

misterleoni

Probably better off buying the Aldi 100% whole peanut variety. Pretty sure it’s only £1.25 and it is literally just peanuts blended up and chucked in a jar.

lozmeister

Same price at Co-Op

abhijitdash123

Yada yada yada. Has palm oil. So cold. Even morrisons own ones have 100% peanut these days. Why buy this?

It’s a big brand of peanut butter in Holland and at £1 for 700g, it’s a great bargain Spotted in Hull
greendayadam

We just got the standard kernel king not the kernel king + It's actually the bottle next to the one you took a picture of for 50p The + must stand for "we add lots of shite you don't want or need"

SaverSaver

Read it on the label. Perhaps they make various blends, always read the label!

greendayadam

It is against the law to mislabel a product. It only mentions peanuts as the ingredients, I'm not sure where you supposedly seen these other mystery ingredients

SaverSaver

When I checked this in B+M recently it had palm oil listed as an ingredient. Also, it has 77% peanuts, peanut flour and peanut oil. Seemed an odd mix, I never tried it so can't comment on taste.

greendayadam

I recommend Kernel King peanut butter, it's less then £1 a jar from B&M and it only contains peanuts, no oil

Jayo

Thanks. I'll give that a go! Here's my breakfast shake: Buy a Lock and Lock cereal tub. Blend your oats into a fine flour. 1. Put in 300 - 350ml of milk (or water) 2. Put 1 to 2 teaspoons of honey (more or less to taste) 3. Put in a slab of peanut butter (Meridian or other good quality, but allow the tub to settle and pour off the oils before using it) 4. Put in two scoops of protein powder 5. Put in 100g of oats 6. Put in a banana. Blend and enjoy. (It tastes better without the banana, but when I'm in a rush I don't have time to eat it separately). It comes out at around 700 calories if I remember correctly and sets you up for the day perfectly.

Franky1971

Yeah, I always have it with skimmed milk. Mixing with water just isn't the same. Here's exactly what I do for a sumptuous milkshake......... 1 scoop of whey powder 250-300ml of skimmed milk 2 heaped tablespoons of lancashire farm low-medium fat yogurt (the one with 80 calories per 100 grams), although any yoghurt that you like the taste of will do. 2 tablespoons of sucralose sweetener. You can add more OR less to taste. Mix that in the blender for 15 seconds and pour it out into a pint glass (it'll be frothing like crazy). Cover it up with some clingfilm and leave in the fridge overnight. The next day, the froth will have disappeared and taste matured. Just give it a stir with a spoon and that's it...... the taste is better than any milkshake out there, no kidding (y)

Jayo

I think I'll try Salted Caramel next time. I got my first My Protein order a few days ago, I'm liking the Smooth Chocolate Whey Isolate. I also find it tastes better with milk instead of water, I'll try your overnight fridge idea.

JoshuaWilliamson

Yes, I can see how it would be obviously much more time and cost efficient to simply cook a meal, bring it to the gym, and immediately eat it post-workout.4 times a week +.

Franky1971

Good price compared to how much it normally costs, with the normal price being a total **** take. Apparently, guys buy this as much for the taste as they do for the protein. Myself, I always buy Myprotein impact whey Salted Caramel flavour as it's on offer regularly at £38-£40 for 5kg delivered and tastes absolutely amazing, not to mention it's one of the top rated proteins on labdoor. A tip....... after mixing, leave the protein shake in the fridge overnight for the froth to disappear and taste to mature, after which it's an absolute treat!!

Skippy Peanut Butter Smooth 1.13kg at Costco Leicester. Can't see this online. Attaching reciept.
Hilazing

That article states that pain oil is bad, but other oils are worse. Buying the meridian peanut butter solves that conundrum, as it is made from 100% peanuts, so no oil at all is required (except the natural peanut oil).

Niz

any palm oil experts have an opinion on this? http://thegreenvegans.com/why-palm-oil-is-bad-but-boycotting-it-even-worse/

Hilazing

Peanut butter is not the greatest product in general. Packed full of unnecessary salt, sugar and/or palm oil. Meridian do a very nice peanut butter made with nothing but peanuts. Having said that, if you want the salty/sugary/palm oily ones, this is a good price, so have some heat.

Dragon32

Hot. Just bought 10 to smear over my naked flesh.

Beccah25

Utterly agree. This was a a favourite and I still buy it for cooking..a dollap added to a stir-fry gives it a delicious savoury edge

It's good stuff identical to meridian perhaps a little less oil separation. They do smaller jars of almond nut butter for £1.99 also , it's around the same area as the crap stuff in our aldi not in the middle aisles .

heather_laurie

Don't stock it in any stores near me . Only have the one with palm oil

plodging

You remember wrongly and probably tried the ordinary standard PB. Aldi 100% contains nothing but peanuts and is in a jar almost identical to meridian stuff . No difference except the price

yourmam84

I tried Aldi’s PB when someone highlighted it on here. Decent but I prefer the taste of meridian, and if I remember rightly it had palm oil.

B&M who own Heron Foods (Since August 2017) are in the process of building a new warehouse in Bedford which will have freezer and chiller facilities. Once it is complete they are planning to role out the Heron Foods layout into 300 B&M stores in the south as they will have enough warehouse capacity to offer this. They have opened 70 Heron Food outlets within B&M stores however these are only in the north as the Heron Foods warehouse is based in Hull and can't cope with the demand that supplying southern B&M stores would cause.

maddogb

lol how many people just keep peanut butter in the cupboard just as it is stored in supermarkets etc non refrigerated? and what a nice spell of warm humid weather we have at the minute, but then again many family kitchens are kept warm even in winter and there is no avoiding humidity in a kitchen....

timmy900

Well yes and no, it requires particular conditions that are inadvisable for keeping any food really: "The species of molds that combine to form aflatoxin grow in soils when conditions are just right, including when decaying food, plants, hay and grains are piled together to decompose in areas with high moisture and high temperatures" It seems to be a problem in Asia and Africa primarily.

maddogb

it sure does go off, bigtime, google peanut mould aflatoxins, most interesting case was the experiment to use peanuts as cattle feed in the states.

timmy900

It says best before 5/4/2019. Also peanut butter doesnt go off..there isn't exactly any water for bacteria to survive...a bit like honey!
