Do you get charged import duty and tax from buying from Gearbest?

Sorry if dumb question but is this the same phone as this ?

It depends on what they want to do as the Mi series Is flagship level, so one would expect it will not be exactly the same as the K20 Pro. The specs will be inline with the Mi9 Same lenses as the MI9 or improved.( Mi9 Battle Angel uses a 1.4 aperture lens) Qi 27 watt charging across the board. IR They may even remove the 3.5mm phone back, as this seems to be what's happening at the top end and Mi users are already used to not having it.

So it's possible that the Mi9T Pro if and when it does arrive, will have the same hardware as the Mi9 and not the K20 Pro..?

Mi9 has better len's and a CLM system , i haven't seen this confirmed on the K20/Pro. The camera department would be where Redmi would make cuts, when something is cheaper and made by the same company there is always a reason why.

Bought Cubot P20 last November and its excellent, best phone ive had.Hot.

I've had cubot for some time I've just ordered a new one. Bit plasticky but other than that all good. Bought new coz screen cracked

Got this on the launch coupon, brilliant bit of kit for the price and I paid more than £120 for it, user is extremely happy with it and it's still going strong and used everyday for everything!!

Bought the x9 some years ago, very cheap and regretted it, pretty sure I'll regret buying this if I do.

@Mrswitch it's been a few days, have you found this one cheaper yet? ;) A shame about the limited battery life (I'm used to a couple of days on easy use) but this seems pretty damn capable for a compact phone on the £200 mark....The Notes are too big for my pocket me thinks!

It doesn't support SD card expansion, so I would go for 128gb, just to be a bit future proof :)

Thanks for the tip. Much appreciated Plus I'm sure with you around we'll all be kept well informed of any good deals :D

Mine is already in processing, so expect it to be around 15 working days in total, depending on which warehouse / shed / utility room (not @Mrswitch one of course!) / hub its shipped via (y)

I don't even care about wireless charging. Im nearly always using my phone when it's charging.

Why is charging your phone wirelessly a gimmick? The MI9 Qi system charges faster than the majority of charge systems on the market, that's not sounding very gimmicky to me. ;) A 90 hz screen is a gimmick when nearly every app does not support it.😁 It's quite strange how people.always callsomething a gimmick when they don't have it on their device, you dont need to read minds to realise that. Every leading OEM leading has wireless charging bar OP and you call it a gimmick, I'd be more inclined to call it a flagship specification. (y)

Why didn't anyone tell me there was a mind reader present? You know nothing about me stop talking as you do... I'm not a OP fan for the record just stating facts it's a gimmick

Thanks Mrs Witch.

I'd probably go for this for the uprated specs, the fact it will last you longer is a massive bonus. The camera on this is rated just as good as the Samsung, battery life will be around the same, the only thing "better" maybe for you will be one ui over miui, thoigh miui in my opinion is great

Hey guys, if you had to choose between this phone (brand new) and a Galaxy s9 (mint condition) for the same price, which would you go for? Also, how does the camera and screen compare between this and the Galaxy s9? @Mrswitch Mrs Witch, do you have a view? Thanks.

Haha, all prices will go up now though :(

Faux (& failed) flagship is what G6 turned out to be, at least with G7 line they didn't try to disguise that: flagship ThinQ + two very good midrangers (better One than Fit, probably just One was enough - little in mid-market to challenge it) But they didn't get pricing right, as usual, so no success in the end

Exactly, a snappy 675 would have given it a good go, ut putting an old flagship in a phone spells disaster sales wise.

Yeah that falls into the "weird offshoot" category I was talking about, Christ knows what possessed them to release that phone! Presumably they still had buckets of 821s leftover from when the G6 tanked, but if they'd had the sense to throw them into a compelling midranger rather than a faux flagship it could have done a lot better. Either way it's hardly indicative of wider industry trends.

...and you're right to do so. With Samsung phones it's a different story, depending on model/where you buy it. This thread is about a smartphone, I think it'd be misleading to suggest there's no software support by Samsung for its smartphones. Were I on your shoes, I'd probably do the same regarding the brand. Plenty of great phones around...

When Samsung failed to provide a single Android upgrade for an extremely expensive tablet I bought a few years ago, I vowed never to buy Samsung again and so far I've stuck to my guns.

Oh I agree; I think anyone with a bit of intelligence can read between the lines ;-) I think that Trump will work his way round as many Chinese manufacturers he can get away with annoying. After all it has nothing to do with products or I.P. and everything to do with the China <=> USA trade war going on.... But if all that is true then it's all ( as they say in America ) a "crap shoot" anyhow

OLB ? Not following you, sorry and before you ask I am very tech literate, just not on phones and ROM's

Have you (or anyone) heard any reliable information about the MiA3? I'm going to have to make a choice between the A3 and the Poco F2...

Who said they were, I am commenting on HOW the start of the bans, will worm their way into other elements of the global bans still to come... the ban you are referring to, is jack to do with the officially cancelled eNDA contracts with ANY supplier or manufatouer of goods or components, connected to any of the suppliers in them, do not forget, that a lot of them are protected under eF embargo terms, there is a lot more c.rap to hit the fans yet, so do not be fooled into thinking that none of it is connected to what their total plan encompasses while Trump is up to what he is up to! To put that into a real world prespective, 13 of the "suppliers" reliant on various phone manufactoers, including apple, will not be present at the next Imd expo in China... that is why "other" phone manufacteruers will increase prices, the more this goes on (not including old stock of course) and on, the same as it did with Dimms & Simms, the last time this happened. This is of course, just my researched opinion and you have your own :{

Shame about the small battery

I saw this in the MI shop the other day. Really nice phone, feels good in the hand, screen looks great. Definietly an option if you hate larger phones.

The battery life will be better than the mAh size, the in screen won't be anywhere near as good as xiaomi's lightening fast physical sensor. One for the "manufacturers don't make compact phones anymore" though this isn't tiny by no means, it's a lot smaller than most other new phones around this price!

True , and those suggesting to use a microSD card for extra storage should be aware that Miui does NOT let you set up a microSD as internal storage even though its been part of android since version 6. So you can use a microSD for music, photos etc, but not for apps.

2gb ram / 16gb interna is a joke! Why do they even do phones like that? It should Even be banned on programmed obsolescence. Environmental grounds. If it was 3/32 it'd start to be usable.

Yep miui is a continuous work-in-progress full of bugs, each time they fix one thing, they break 3 other things . I have been saying this for a while but have been shouted down by 1 or 2 xiaomi fan boys / so called pepper expert program personel

I could, but why should I? Plus I can't be ars*d to fart about doing this.

Honestly, it's a shame but it's not a deal breaker. The picture still looks great and I had it side by side with my full hd Fire 10 and the difference was miniscule. This is a great tablet honestly. If you must have full hd for Netflix then the Fire 10 is your best bet on a budget. It's not as fast as this tablet but it's decent enough and getting the Play Store on it is easy. Just don't weigh it down with to many Google apps as I found that hit performance. I added Chrome, Gmail and YouTube and that was it. For the money it's a good tablet.

Do a search for apk called Netflixpro

:( If only if played Netflix in HD. :( Does anyone know of anything similar which does play Netflix in HD?

Does the T20 come with a screen protector already fitted or do I need to invest in one? Most of the tables/phones I've bought recently seem to have one on out of the box.

You can tell it not to optimise the battery for specific apps and even lock the apps in recent app lists so theyre not removed from memory, but even that is hit and miss. As an example, ive locked my eBay app and sometimes when I kill all my apps it kills the eBay app even though it's been locked :D Theres quite a big thread on it on XDA with fixes which involve sending ADB commands (connect to your pc/laptop, configure drivers and send some "instructions") but I personally haven't tried those.

you can disable this for apps , look under battery settings. i turn it off for some social apps and alarm clock etc.

Cant you turn it off

Puts most, if not all apps into deep sleep due to its very efficient battery saving features which is kind of a double edge sword as I've learnt the hard way. The eBay app at times will not alert me to ending auctions in time due to this feature. Hope this helps clarify.

The Redmi Note 7? Yes, that looks good!! thank you!

Yeah the redmi not 7 gets great reviews for an under £300 phone, especially in the camera department. Or you could go with an older flagship like the pixel line, guaranteed good quality cameras.

Thank you very much. I'm really looking for a good video/pic camera more than anything (plus big screen and at least matching specs of this s5 I have). Is there anything £200 or sub that is highly recommended in this sense? Thank you again for your help.

Mine arrived yesterday, so 2 weeks from ordering with Gearbest. Would have been 12 days had Yodel not kept hold of it for 2 days No import taxes to be paid. I was a little apprehensive ordering a fairly expensive product from Gearbest but everything went fine, just don't expect any tracking until it lands in UK. Paid by Credit Card and get warranty cover with bank account so would recommend them really The phone itself is brilliant. Unbelievable for £300. Not a massive fan of miui coming from a Galaxy s7 edge but using nova launcher for now

If these are all coming via Yodel, does anyone know if Yodel charge any import tax before delivery (like Royal Mail and Parcelforce) or if they invoice several weeks after delivery (like DHL and TNT)? Not trying to scare anyone but I've had far better luck avoiding import charges with the former than the latter and don't know which method Yodel use.

2GB isnt the end of the world, for the money can't think of much better

Define smooth multi tasking? Used numerous 2gb phones with no issue. Would say 2gb is minimum to get a smooth ish experience

I meant more 2GB RAM. I'm not 100% sure but not every app can be transferred from phone memory to sd card. It is good first phone for children who not allowed to play games on it. Anyway yes I agree that it is good price for its value.

Can't you use an SD card as adaptable storage? If you can't then you'd have to go careful with your apps but it's doable for non heavy users.
