Have Xiaomi phones solved the audio recording problems yet with their new models? My 4a still sounds awful when recording video or audio because of the Active Noise Cancellation and that's running the latest version of Miui etc?

Mrswitch

Oh I know, but I couldn't be bothered to go in to mega detail, so just pointed out the one obvious difference.

There is a new redmi 6 pro being launched on Monday 25th could be 5.5" they launched the redmi 6 and 6A just over a week ago and they were 5.45" with MTK processors 720p screen and 3000 mAh battery. All that's known of this pro version is it will have a Snapdragon 625 and AI with a 4000 mAh battery and 19:9 ratio so could have a notch. If it follows the previous pro version of the redmi 4 it could be 1080 screen. So could be worth you waiting till monday and see full specs it may give you another option

mattygc2004

Always worth checking kilmovil website for the specs the note is quite a bit better than the plus. This is actually the redmi note pro in some markets and the redmi plus is the redmi note in some markets

Well I wouldn't say 2 years is "old", but agree that it's a mid-low end chip personally as there are plenty of lesser chips out there, especially from mediatek. I'd say that the 625 is perfect for this price point, being still fairly fast, and a very good chip for battery life. I previously had a mediatek octa-core 1.7Ghz, and the difference between them is night and day, for both performance and battery life. Yeah, if I had a choice of better CPU I would take it, but can't name anything where I have actually seen it acting "slow" either. It'd be nice if they suddenly dropped the price on the 835 to mid-range, now that the 845 is around, but that's not likely. I can't justify the expense personally of a higher end model, even a mi mix2 or something when this phone does everything I ask of it and still get 3-4 days battery life on moderate use days.

Benjimaestro_

It's worse. The SD625 is old now, and while not slow it's def. not fast. At this point it's a low end chip/budget chip.

PhilK

:) Probably blasted out of their minds for 10 days before they look at it never mind post ! (flirt)

finnmaccool

They have a smoke and a pancake before they post it.

paddy.stone

What's "slow" about an octacore 2.0Ghz phone? just interested as my phone with a 625 in is anything but slow?

You mean you'd rather take someones opinioin than actually see physical proof? Sounds like the pics gave you your answer... My opinion (not that it counts) is that it has a thin black border. I admire your gratitude nonetheless. About 44 seconds in.....

tawse57

I don't think the orange sensitivity is that good.

tawse57

Yes, there is a thin black border - pretty obvious in every youtube video of the white, gold and blue ones which have a white front. Here's a thought - buy the black one. If you decide that the thin black border is something that you cannot live with, even on the black one, I can suggest the Samsung 9+ as an alternative. I don't think that has a black border. Think it is a bit more expensive though.

After 2 weeks i sent them an e-mail asking where's the phone and they told me that they don't sell this item anymore... Horrible customer service... The good part is that i've got a Xiaomi Mi A1 for 150 quid! A million times better than this one!

put in my order now out of stock? first and last order i will give them. complete waste of time. getting a refund, anyone else have problems?

brettytopbanana

One thing I will say, is that the first thing you notice will be the weight of it. I was surprised, especially when I held it with my Huawei p10. However, you are talking a few hundred grams in your hand which is not a lot really, so once you get used to it, you forget about the difference. For some reason, many people get fixated on the weight...are we incapable of holding something that weighs a few hundred grams?!?!?!?!

brettytopbanana

The phone doesn't have a notification LED. My last phone did and I found it useful but I don't need it! I paid £158 back in December from Amazon. It was the 4GB/64GB and works so well. I think it is an amazing phone. My heart sinks when I see the price of these expensive phones such as apple and samsung when I think what people are paying and what they really get for it. I mean the last iPhone advert I saw was promoting those strange face detection emoji things....I mean....wow.... :/

This may be a big assumption, but if it's anything like the Mi Mix 2 I'd say it will be pretty good. I have Bluetooth (connected to a smart watch), WiFi, GPS on all the time and push email plus notifications. I take the phone off charge around 6am and usually have in excess of 60% when I go to bed at 10pm. The quick charge is also phenomenally fast, so even when I do run the battery down more it tops up in no time.

liquidtmd

What's the battery life realistically like on this?

jimborae

Have to say I've never been disappointed by a Xiaomi phone yet, I've had a Redmi Note 3, Note 4 and Mi A1. All have been superb performers and fantastic value for money.

daesimps

No, mine has 6gb RAM and a metal frame.

MysticalUndies

If it's got 8gb ram and there's no metal frame and antenna bands near the charging port it's the special edition.

If you really want the cheapest tab possible, Chinese models tend to go around 35 quid on eBay with a similar spec to this.

Archos products are really bad quality wise and Archos don't support their devices at all well, I know it's only £50 but IMO it's not worth it, I would rather buy a second hand device from a better brand at least the user experience will be better.

Not sure if it makes a difference but I've purchased a lot over the last few years and never returned anything to them. I've also contacted them creating a message ticket. Mention the dates you had seen when ordering and ask when they'll be shipping. I find being nice, understanding and patient pays off with GearBest. I stack up my points and Quidco. Keep the language simple too and don't write lengthy paragraphs. I find they are mostly helpful. Perhaps too ask to be put at highest priority for next shipment at warehouse, it may mean nothing but it could mean everything. I've had my gold one delayed but my black is showing on Royal Mail tracking hopefully it will arrive next week. I find the Quidco always pays early.

Where can I find glad protective film for this?

Blurigard

I've bought a bunch of Chuwi tablets and they've all been very reliable. Good screens with responsive touch and average batteries. Not much to not like with Chuwi tbh - one of the better budget brands. I've also owned Voyo and found them to be less well made than Chuwi, with issues like noisy touch screens when you're connected to AC, static over the headphone line and such-like. However, I've been generally happy with them all for the prices I paid at the time.

Yep, the GearBest site is a bit pants for phone specs info these day's of late I've noticed (no idea why?, as they never used to be like that?), reminds me a bit now of AliExpress too, who too are also very thin on the ground when it comes to spelling out what's what where their phone's are concerned - which is also very bad (I've no idea if the AliExpress thing like that is only a more recent thing whereby they started to go it like that or whatever?, but that's how I've personally noticed it in the last year at least anyway ... ) Version's of such Phone's (in the UK) these day's, tend to pretty much all have NFC embedded within them ... Another phone that Network Three did last Year on both Pay & Go, and on Contract also, was the Lenovo P2 phone (which I bought last Year). But in Eastern Asia, there was also a Lenovo P2 equivalent phone out there, 'P2' the same (but different 'version' in some way?). Either way, the UK version (hand on heart) blatantly has the NFC technology built-in to it. :-) Whereas the Eastern Asia equivalents of the same phone blatantly didn't - much like that of the OP's above (which 'isn't a thing' if you don't require such anyway?). The other Lenovo P2 Eastern Asia version was posted on here last Year at some point ... Around July/August time, I'd I recall well?. The irony of it at the time was this, it has 4gb RAM, and 64gb of Internal Storage space ( + further storage capabilities via microsd). And was significantly cheaper than that of the then current UK offering of the phone (which despite being so expandable via microsd card, it only had 32gb of internal storage space, for more money in the UK). But yet, despite all that obvious, many people on that previous thread still complained ... Simply because it lacked the NFC capabilities to which they craved in a phone at the time, or whatever?. It is what it is I guess?, lol.
